Excellent Services from James M. Milligan

Jay was essential in getting my DUI case dismissed within a year of my arrest. He was always available, timely, and flexible. He and his staff were so helpful and friendly. I highly recommend anyone in this sort of trouble to seek him out.

Great DUI Lawyer

I have never been in trouble with the law or arrested before so when I got my DUI it was pretty devastating especially since my career as a mechanic involves driving cars all day. I complied with everything the officer asked of me and answered with yes sir and no sir. I stepped off the line a few tim...es and could not stand on one foot for more than 15 seconds however I did successfully count backwards from 66-33. The officer placed me under arrest and put me in the cruiser. On the way back to the station the officer advised me "off the record" to define the breathalyzer due to my career situation. Once I got to the station and was handed the paperwork with my charges I realized that the penalty for refusal was a license suspension for 180 days but if I took the breathalyzer and failed I would only lose it for 30 days. Not even thinking about court and just wanting to be able to work I took it and failed with a .12bac. I did some research online and contacted Mr. Milligan who was eager to help me as if I had already known him for years and was very knowledgeable about the information and steps that I needed to proceed. After many continued court dates, Mr. Milligan got the breathalyzer evidence to be withheld from the court room and got the jury waived so only the judge would be deciding my case. While interrogating the trooper he pointed out everything I did right that night in comparison to what I had not and the final outcome was that I was not guilty. I would highly recommend James Milligan to anyone who is thinking of fighting their DUI.

I would recommend James Milligan to anyone. Amazing attorney.

I can't put into words how grateful I am for the outcome of my OUI case and for all Jay did for me during the whole process. I called him the day after I was charged with OUI first offence and was immediately impressed with his knowledge, confidence, willingness to listen to my case and his calm inst...ructions and advice. I never even made a call to another attorney. I hired Jay and he never made any promises or guarantees, which meant a lot to me because that showed he was being genuine. Knowing I had him on my side was very comforting and he was able to have the court work in his favor a few times. When it was finally time for trial Jay was able again to put me at ease, even though I knew this trial was going to be very difficult for me emotionally. He was prepared with all the documents he had obtained. I chose to have a bench trial and Jay was very supportive and made me feel like I made the right choice. He did an amazing job cross examining the officer, he was able to break down her testimony, break down the field sobriety tests, and make the case against me look very weak. I testified in my trial and Jay asked me all the right questions to build my defense. I feel like he truly believed in my innocence and was able to speak to that in the closing statement to the judge. Jay was able to get me a NOT GUILTY finding at the conclusion of my trial. Knowledge, confidence, passion and honesty are all qualities people should look for when hiring an attorney. Jay has all those qualities and more, I would not change my decision to hire him and would recommend him to anyone. Thank you so much Jay!

Exceptional !

Mr. Milligan immediately put me at ease. I needed a hardship license for a 2nd DUI within 10 years per MA DMV ruling. I was unaware of Melanie's Law and the lifetime look back. My previous citation was 8 years ago and so I initially thought this new citation was a 1st offense since my previous s...tate of residence looks back 5 years. When the reality of this fiasco became clear I was more than distraught. Mr. Milligan answered and/or promptly returned all my calls which were many. He answered many of my same questions each time in a calm and professional manner. I never felt I was annoying him or being judged by him. Something I took note of was Mr. Milligan always referred to himself as "Jay" which I liked and did not feel intimidated. I then met Mr. Milligan (who I now call "Jay") in person at his office. Jay clearly explained the steps and required documents to go before the DMV Board of Appeals as well as the various outcomes. The outcome I needed was a hardship license and yes I was granted one!! Kudos to Jay!! Jay is extremely knowledgeable, articulate, polite, courteous and a competent attorney. No arrogance noted. I am happy to endorse/recommend Jay .

Excellent Attorney!!!

James Milligan was my attorney for my OUI. He and his staff are very professional and courteous, they kept me informed of everything that was going on with my case. He found time in his busy schedule to help me when the court system had a clerical error in my date of being there, which caused me to... be incarcerated. He dropped what he was doing and came immediately to the court house to prove to the court system their mistake in the dating of my trial. He proved my innocence against the commonwealth of Massachusetts. I would highly recommend him.
