Peace of Mind!

In the midst of what, for our family was a truly troubling time, I hired Michael to represent my sister to fight a serious felony charge, that if convicted would impact her life forever, specifically diminish her relationship with her 8 month old baby because of jail time and end her career that she ...has worked so hard for. Without hesitation, Michael took on her case, was clear and honest from the beginning about the challenges we faced, but at the same time gave me a sense of hope. Michael is an expert at what he does. He is strategic, concise, aggressive and most importantly a CREATIVE defense attorney. I have worked as a paralegal in law firms for over 10 years and I have a Doctorate in Human Resources Development. Based on his work in our case, I can tell you that he is not only an excellent attorney but a leader who takes command of a situation, evaluates the various possible outcomes, and shines a light allowing the Client to put his/her best foot forward. In short, my sister's case is being "No Actioned" and what that means is that the Michael has convinced the State to dismiss her case prior to the arraignment, which is the formal commencement of the criminal process. How did he do this you may ask? Well, he and his team quickly secured sufficient evidence to package and present to the State Attorney to prove that the facts underlying my sister's arrest were manufactured by the alleged victim (alleged victim being the father of her child who broke into my mother's home, beat my sister in front of my mother and kidnapped her child, then drove to another city and made a false police report causing my sister to be arrested two days later - even after having an Order from a Judge awarding her FULL custody of her child and a restraining order against the boyfriend). There could not have been a better outcome. We won, my sister won and our family has peace now. We can all breathe now and that's because of the work Michael and Carlos (the investigator) did. I will also share with you all who read this that even after delivering the news to me last night by phone, Michael shared with me his personal advice as to what he thinks should happen next outside of his representation. That simple action tells me and anyone who reads this that he cares and his care goes well beyond the case at hand. Michael performs with what many experts in the ethics community call a "duty of care" - and you can't ask for anything else. His humanistic perspective is critical to the work he does and many legal practitioners could learn from him. If your contemplating hiring him but have some personal reservations, trust that he will bat for you and he is the best batter in the league!

“Dear Anonymous, Thank you very much for your incredible and comprehensive summary (i.e. #HaberPA's AVVO Client Review #172). Until today I had thought that #170 was our apogee but then you posted this and, well, I guess that I'm either on a run of representing highly literate clients or I've stepped up my game. :-) In all seriousness, thank you, truly and humbly, but please give yourself (and your mom) credit as well, for I could not possibly have accomplished what I did for your sister without the two of you being actively involved. You came to me the day after arrest / booking and told me that the cops had falsely arrested your sister. Our goal was to convince the State NOT to file charges, and we had a 3 week window before Arraignment to do so (ultimately, working with the State Attorney we extended that window an additional 2 weeks). After arming me with facts that were not contained in the Arrest Affidavit (the arresting officers were operating on partial - about 25% - and entirely -100% - one-sided information) you then equipped me with the tools that I needed (you retained my PI and cooperated by providing sworn affidavits) so as to gather the proof requisite to achieving our objective... and so we did... but it was a group effort. Those 2 beautiful words "No Action" (meaning that the case is dismissed before it is formally filed) will echo for a while. I cannot - no one can - undo the fact that your sister was arrested but, thanks to her family, substantial justice was achieved on her behalf. I don't know that my words are quite as eloquent or meaningful as yours, but I truly and wholeheartedly thank you for your leap of faith, your steadfast assistance and also for #HaberPA's AVVO Client Review #172. I shopped around for a lawyer but the first time i called Mike Haber and we spoke on the phone for 50 minutes i figured he would be the best choice and i'm glad i found him. In the initial phone conversation he was able to tell me off the top of his head everything i needed to know where 2 other firm...s said they need to check and to call them back. He knows his stuff and how it works. He cc'd me on emails with the state attorney's representative and his negotiation was a one way road, in our favor. He helped me close the case quickly without a trial and just a small fine. Thank you very much

Dear Anonymous, Thank you for sharing your experience with #HaberPA with the folks, especially in regard to our commitment to communication (both initially and throughout the course of the case) and our command over the law and procedure. Just to give some context, your case was a BUI (Boating Under the Influence). You were stopped for "plowing" outside of the channel (an infraction) and rather than helping you a rookie FWC officer proceeded to use his authority to give you a hard time, and then his inexperience to arrest you for a crime with no proof (because it did not occur). We relentlessly pounded the State with discovery demands and with reciprocal discovery (including listing defense witnesses, tendering proof of contemporaneous repairs on your vessel that comported with the basis for the stop and certified NWS weather reports corroborating your version of events as to how and why you flagged down FWC for help), we never took a continuance, because the State couldn't keep up and comply in a timely fashion we were able to run out the speedy trial clock and just days before trial the State offered you a breakdown to "careless boating" (an infraction), with a conviction, DUI school, a fine and court costs. The kicker: When we told the State to pound sand and asked the Court to get our jury panel the State made you an offer that you couldn't, and didn't refuse (a withhold to careless boating and a $500 contribution to "The Everglades Project"). This is what happens when #HaberPA aggressively, relentlessly, tenacious and zealously advocates for you (it also helps that you made yourself available to assist by arming me with the information that I needed, like the proof of trim tab repairs and paying for the NWS weather reports). Your plea was akin to a DUI being broken down to careless driving, with a withhold and a fine... no other penalties (which is a virtually unheard of result). We could have tried this case and clobbered the State (and not doing so cost me trial fees), but I respect your decision to take that deal at my expense (Hell, I would have taken that deal or even counseled my own kid to take it), because it's not about me it's about you. I am glad that you are happy and I am grateful for you authoring #HaberPA's AVVO Client Review #168. Wising you all the best and thanking you again. Oh, and by the way, Anonymous was not lying when he titled his Client Review... his Judge (who will remain nameless) did in fact state on the record in open court that in his case there was "Some damn good Lawyering here"! --> Fondly, MAH/Esq

NO OTHER ATTORNEY LIKE MIKE!

My girlfriend already knew Mike and what she calls the (Miracle work attorney or 5 star service on call attorney). I was being charged for the first time in my life with two felonies. I had no idea what was about to happen and frankly although my girlfriend spoke so highly of him; Reality was that i ...was not in complete belief and was afraid to trust someone with my life, my future, my record.. On our initial phone call Mike broke everything down. The possible outcome, good and worst case scenario. He asked me if there was something we expected from him in this process what would it be? I quickly said I did not want to be a felon and i did not want to do jail time. He said very confidently that I could trust him to fight and do his very best to meet my needs.. Less than 3 months with a lot of communication and reassurance on his end; we got the call that my case was dismissed. There are no words to express the gratitude I have for Mike. Cases don't always work out in the end as well as yours did, but what is consistent is my honest assessment and discussion of the facts and circumstances with the client, which result in an agreed and realistic "litigation objective", and then painstaking effort at realizing our goal. Whether it's by trial (a "not guilty" verdict), motion (suppression of evidence, outright dismissal or a departure), fortune / luck (missing witnesses, lost evidence, time deadlines, etc) or, as in your case, through basic, hard fought pre-Arraignment discussions with the State, I will take the win on my client's behalf however I can lawfully earn it (including taking advantage of loopholes and exploiting technicalities to the client's benefit, provided that it is ethical to do so). You say that "There are no words to express the gratitude I have for Mike" (and I thank you), but there are, you have written and posted them for the cyber-world to see and I am as grateful to you as you are to me. What an AMAZING attorney!

Michael Haber was contracted by my family to help my brother in his case. Michael from the moment of connecting made sure to explain answers thoroughly and made sure to always answer his calls and text. Not to mention he picked up the phone on a Sunday afternoon!!! Michael always made sure to keep us... inform with the status of the case and made sure to give us the options that were available. Excellent attorney

Hi. My husband was convicted of drug trafficking in FL in 2012. After he got out of prison we moved to a different State. He got his driver license and we were all fine up until a few weeks ago when they wouldn't renew his license because Fl had a $38,000 hold against him from fines and costs from... his old FL case. I called the court and the DMV and then started looking for a Miami, FL lawyer to help. I found Michael Haber on google. I called him because we needed an attorney whom could do excactly just like his reviews said he would do, sure enough Mr. Haber immediately took my call. I told Mr. Haber that my husband needed his driver license now so while we were on the phone he looked up my husband's driver license and court case information and then he told me how long it would take and what it would cost to try to get it done. In just a few days Mr. Haber got the court's file (he emailed me copies of everything that he needed from the file), that same day he wrote a motion (he sent me a copy of that too) and then he was in front of the Judge 3 days later. Because of Mr. Haber the Judge removed the case from collections and reduced the money from $38,000 to the original $27,000 that was court ordered back in 2012. That very same day Mr. Haber not only got my husband on a $50 per month payment plan and got paperwork from the Clerk to clear the FL driver license suspension but he also went to DMV and reinstated my husband's FL driver license (and he emailed us copies of all of that paperwork too). So, in less than 2 weeks time my husband now has his driver license in our home State and we never even had to step foot in FL. Let me tell you that Michael Haber is an honest, fair, responsible and trustworthy lawyer. We appreciate him and we recommend him greatly. Thank you Mr. Haber!

Dear Anonymous, Thank you so much for your detailed and heartfelt Client Review (#HaberPA's 158th on AVVO). I don't pat myself on the back too often but as it turned out your husband's was a challenging case that wound up with an excellent result. It was difficult in that you had a dead line (needing immediate relief) and that I therefore had to rely upon my ability to juggle, work with and to some degree manipulate 3 separate entities: A) the Clerk of Court's Office - which I needed to be amenable, competent and cooperative, B) the Court - which I needed to display good will by invoking and using it's discretionary power for rapid equitable relief and C) FL-DMV - a traditionally impersonal and rigid entity with an unfriendly maze of endless bureaucracy. In the end (which was less than 2 weeks from the time of your initial contact) we were successful. Your family saved nearly 30%, your husband got his driver license back and my faith in the system "doing the right thing" was reinvigorated (believe me, when you do what I do daily, sadly you don't see this sort of result often enough). In this case Harvey Ruvin's Office (our Clerk of Court) was spectacular in it's assistance and efficiency, Judge Martin Zilber was exceptional in his understanding and willingness to ease your family's suffering and even DMV cut us great slack in letting me sneak into a line without an appointment to clear your hold and reinstate your driving privilege (so that your home State could be notified that FL was satisfied and you could get the DL that you sought). When my son was younger he used to watch a cartoon called "The Wonder Pets" and their theme was "what's gonna work... teamwork"; well that's what happened here. And as you now know there's plenty of thanks to go around, the greatest of which come from me to you; first for your leap of faith in hiring #HaberPA and permitting me the privilege of being of service and second for your awesome review.
