When you need a fighter

If you want someone who cuts through the BS, is professional but a bulldog defending you, honest through and through, Michael is your guy. He defended me for an attempted murder case, he told me what to realistically expect. He is very pragmatic, not an idealist, which is what you want in an attor...ney. He educated me on the guidelines which helped me truly understand the predicament I was in, and how to move forward considering the circumstances. The case ended in a no pros. I could not recommend Michael highly enough. This is the guy I want doing surgical operations on my case. He pointed me to a great family lawyer as well. I could not be more satisfied with Michael. You can't go wrong retaining Haber.

Dear Don, Thank you for your succinct and sincere Client Review (#HaberPA's 220th on AVVO). Yours was an incredible and unique case and as you have not identified yourself I am going to share it with the folks. A third party called 911 and said he was with a stabbing victim who was bleeding badly. The police and Fire Rescue promptly arrived, the victim was transported to the hospital, the third party was debriefed, shortly thereafter you were located just a few blocks away and were taken into custody. Although the third party put you and the victim in the same location prior to the stabbing he did not witness the incident and accordingly he could not offer any explanation as to the "what, why or how" of it. Police responded to the hospital but could not speak to the victim as he was in surgery; meantime you wisely invoked and made no statements. Inexplicably, the police left, never returned to the hospital and therefore they never took a statement from the victim, even more insanely no one from the State Attorney's Office ever ("ever") spoke to the victim and, if it were not so serious then it'd be comical that 3 weeks later the State had the temerity to charge you with attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. After his discharge from the hospital the victim left town to convalesce with family. We know that as my investigator located him in the Orlando area, reached out, with permission he drove up and secured a sworn statement which was exculpatory in nature. Again, astonishingly, this was not done by anyone from either the MDPD or the SAO; in fact the only correspondence / contact that the alleged victim ever had with the State was our filing of his affidavit, yet they continued to announce "ready" for trial, as did we, and why not? The State had no victim contact, they knew it, we knew it and even if they did locate him he had all but exonerated you, yet, again, an Assistant State Attorney stood in front of a Circuit Court Judge and announced "ready". Well we called their bluff and on the day of trial (after the Judge had finally tired of granting State continuances and finally opened his eyes and ears to the facts that I've stated herein and which were proffered to the Court on multiple occasions) the State dropped the charges. In 30+ years this was the worst example of prosecutorial malfeasance that I have ever seen. You were literally facing life in prison and the government literally had neither any evidence of your guilt (much less proof beyond a reasonable doubt) nor even a witness, much less a victim. This was simply atrocious. Yes it worked out, and yes we were on top of it but when something this outrageous happens the words "nolle pros" offer some but no where near enough comfort. Meantime, I can't even imagine being you through that, and to you, how you comported yourself, I tip my hat. You listened, you maintained your cool, you you followed instructions and you asked appropriate questions... in short (and particularly in light of the charges) you were a model client. I have no explanation for the unprecedented acts by the police and the prosecution in your case but I am glad that you took the leap of faith by literally entrusting me with your life. I also appreciate your having taken the time to share your experience with #HaberPA with the folks. Hopefully we won't meet again professionally, but, as is the case with most former clients you are now part of the #HaberPA family and as such my hope is that we'll enjoy an adult beverage together one day soon. With my fondest regards. MAH/Esq.

I was arrested on my B-day people! And I walked out of court with a dismissal without any hassle!

Unbelievably Amazing! My Boyfriend and myself were arrested on my Birthday at La poderosa Wynwood... if you can avoid this place please do. I went to la poderosa to celebrate my birthday and when we came out of the club we were arrested and charged with battery (to a cop when it was the other way a...round) and intoxication... And Michael did the impossible since I had been previously arrested with a felony grand theft and I did the Pre trial program this second time around I couldn’t do this program and he was going to try and get me into the program but instead he got our charges dismissed on the first try. I will forever be thankful and if I ever get in trouble again I would have him represent me again. Super happy with the outcome.

Dear Ali, Thank you so very much for your kind words (in the form of #HaberPA's 182nd Client Review). When I consult with a potential client I do my best to come up with both a realistic goal (a "litigation objective") and a fair price to accomplish the mission. I get there by initially examining any and all available police reports (affidavits, etc.) - so as to understand law enforcement's probable cause for having made the arrest - and afterward (I always want to know the cops' version of events first) I thoroughly vet the "worst case scenario" with the potential client. I also learn as much as I can about the client, especially any prior criminal history and any potentially relevant unique circumstances (i.e. health, medical, psychological, etc.). When I have a client who's particularities suggest that I may need more than one litigation objective (such as you) then I contemplate secondary and even tertiary goals, just as we did in your case. I took a global view of the case and the client (you), considering and planning for the reasonably foreseeable possibilities. Louis Pasteur (and Travis Dane) said that "chance favors the prepared mind", and that is an operating principal at #HaberPA (along with quoting and honoring fair fees, always being available & responsive, keeping the client fully informed and by doing so earning positive client reviews at the conclusion of the case). We plan, as best we can, for everything, including expecting the unexpected... and we always welcome a dismissal. I'm happy that you're happy and while I'm tickled to know that "[you] will forever be thankful and if [you] ever get in trouble again [you] would have [me] represent [you] again", I also hope that you don't find yourself in that situation. Again, thank you. I very much appreciate your sharing these kind words with the folks. Wishing you all the best! Fondly, MAH/Esq

Top Quality Attoney

On November 27th, 2017 my life turned for the worse my boyfriend of five years got arrested for armed robbery. The victim claimed it was an “armed robbery” but, I knew something wasn’t right. To make a long story short, Mike Haber and his partner, Marc Morris gave us the best legal service through ed...ucating us about the law. Since, I didn’t know nothing about criminal cases. Also, they gives us the best advice on, what options to take for his very complex case. They were flexible for all meet ups (after hours and weekends). The line of communication was impeccable. They were able to turn our case of a violation of probation (VOP) and new charges of armed robbery to a three day speedy trial. Mike and Morris argumentative delivery in the courtroom was very honorable to have on my side to defend my boyfriend. They exposed all the flaw details on the victim’s testimony and the detective lack of investigating protocols. Plus, brought the light of truth on the surveillance evidence. There was no gun, no theft, and no force! Words can’t explain the level of satisfaction I have been feeling since April 11th, 2018. Mike and Marc closed our case with a jury verdict of NOT GUILTY. P.S: Once my boyfriend was release Mike hand delivered my precious cargo (boyfriend) to me. That was the icing on the cake....EXCEPTIONAL customer service!!! Phenomenal ATTORNEYS!!!

Dear Natalie, I cannot tell you how happy I am for you and your Beau (our client). As a criminal defense lawyer there is nothing that is more satisfying than hearing the Clerk read the words "not guilty" off of a verdict form (not even reading such a flattering after-the-fact client review - #HaberPA's 159th on AVVO, although the look on your face when he unexpectedly walked up behind you as you and I were chatting was priceless...). This was a BS case from the start. In this case the cops got it dead wrong (pathetically piss poor police work coupled with an "easy way out" arrest of a guy who was on felony probation) and the victim was a lying POS (both absolute facts) and if your Beau had not been on felony probation at the time of his arrest then he would not have spent any pre-trial time in jail. But he was on felony probation and so he was held without bond. Also, because it was an armed robbery arrest (which was ultimately filed by the State as a strong armed robbery - the difference being possible life in prison vs. 5 years of exposure), it took some time to gear the case up and get it to trial and a concurrent VOP hearing. But in the end justice was served, your beau was acquitted and now he's home, a free man who is no longer on probation. One unique thing that I have not seen in my career was the unbelievable speed with which your Beau was released from custody. After the verdict (and when the family had left) I was in the courthouse for about 10 minutes speaking with court personnel (feedback from Clerks, Corrections and Court Reporters is invaluable, even after 27 years it always helps me to be a better and more effective litigator) and as I was walking out of the building there he was, walking toward me. At first I didn't even recognize him (he was strutting through the lobby in shorts and a white t-shirt and was the last person that I expected to see - processing and release usually takes a little while, not inside of 15 minutes) but when I did we decided that it would be the most wonderful surprise ever for me to arrange to meet you and occupy your attention while he stealthily approached from behind (... nailed it). I wish I could have video taped that moment (which was impossible without cluing you in), but I'm satisfied to have it burned into my memory. Thank you again for your kind review, and mostly for your leap of faith in affording #HaberPA the privilege of securing your loved one's freedom. Congratulations and best wishes for a happy future! Elatedly --> MAH/Esq

Satisfied

I have the opportunity to hire Michael for a DV/Resistant w/Violence . He was a great attorney from the beginning always available and very prompt in answering emails and returning phone calls. He had a great knowledge of how things worked and what to do. He is brilliant when advising his clients on... what may or may not work and is only concerned about their best interest. He does his due diligence on research needed, promptly returns phone calls and emails and keeps clients advised on status of their case. He is one amazing Lawyer and I will recommend him

"I endorse this lawyer. I first met Mike about 20 years ago when I was a Special Prosecutor in the Narcotics Unit at the Miami Dade State Attorney's Office. He was and still is a hard working and knowledgable attorney, who fought for his client then and still does today. He has always been honest, fair and ethical. He is always fighting to achieve the best possible results for his clients. When I left the Miami Dade State Attorney's Office to start my private practice, I maintained my relationship with him and he and I would consult each other on some of our individual cases. He is a wealth of information and our friendship has grown over the years. Currently we co-host a podcast on Mondays at 2p.m. on Miami's Community Newspapers on Facebook Live titled "At Your Service with Haber and Martinez.""

"I endorse this lawyer. Attorney Haber in my opinion is an attorney that is truly for the people. I have followed him for a few years now, and remain inestimably impressed with both the amount of knowledge he has in criminal law and also the amount of knowledge he gives to anyone in need of legal guidance. Attorney Haber has a way of breaking down complex legal concepts into very understandable pieces that can be easily digested by someone not so familiar with legal phrases and wording. To have the career he has and the number of years he has dedicated to this craft and still be willing to help out the community at large at a second's notice is what I feel makes him a continual asset and resource to both the legal community and the state of Florida."
