Genuine and Caring

Even though Matthew is no longer practicing military law he still took around half an hour to recommend several attorneys and ensure that I understood the situation for clearing up an NCIC report. I can't imagine how hard this man would fight for you in the court room!

Immediate Hire

Looking back I regret having not secured the legal advice and representation of Matt T. Smith sooner; nevertheless, upon securing the services of Matt, he represented case to the most senior judicial representatives, JAG officers, and offices with-in the Department of the Navy and Marine Corps. Ple...ase see nots I would trust him and seek him out IMMEDIATELY for private, personal, and service related matters as it relates to Military Discharges, Military Legal Representation, Civilian Law representation for injury and or accident in public or military life. Contact Matt immediately, your well-being is at jeopardy and he will ensure to legally do all that is possible to fight for your case and a positive outcome. I know this because he represented me and I could not have been more happy with his schedule flexibility, constant communication, affordability, and the reputation he earned while serving our Nation, the community, and before taking my legal case. You won' regret teaming up with the Law Office of Matt T. Smith, turn your case over to him TODAY!

Marine Raider Defense

I met Matt when I was enlisted in the Marine Special Operations unit known as Marine Raiders. I had served 8 years at this time from 2004 - 2012 all with either Marine Recon or the Raiders with multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Our paths crossed when I found myself in civilian trouble for... an almost bar fight in Tempe, AZ that didn't escalate to a fight but led to overreaching Police involvement. The fight almost broke out but didn't, we were asked to leave as Tempe PD was also in the area they approached us for our ID's. We refused to give them as there was no crime, but they pushed the issue anyway. We continued to refuse, which led to our detainment. The next day, we were released and all charges dropped by the DA due to it not being legal for the PD to demand ID without a crime or investigating a crime. My command pushed the issue of punishment, I refused NJP and demanded a Court Martial. The Court Martial process started and as the investigation found, they had no grounds to press charges. This was not good enough for the command. They wanted to make an example of us and retaliate for our refuels to their initial NJP attempts. So the commanding officer filed for an admin separation. During the course of all this, the command would file a non-rank every month to build a paper trail to support the ad sep. Every month I refused to sign the papers and demanded my promotion. Eventually the ad sep board convened of officers handpicked by the commanding officer. The finding was to separate from service with an “other than honorable” OTH rating. This was expected as the board had been stacked to ensure this was the outcome. Matt represented me during this process. After the hearing, Matt filled papers and request masts to the Commanding General of Marine Special Operations Command. He also initiated a congressional inquiry of investigation and an IG investigation. To say the least, the findings of the investigations and the request mast to the General were so compelling not only did I get my promotion, it was back dated to the original date, the commanding officer was relieved and the General personally apologized to me and offered his direct line if anyone from the command tried to retaliate in any way to call him direct. Could not have been happier with the due diligence and strategy Matt put in place. It really was a breath of fresh air to have a JAG that could stand up for the enlisted and ensure the laws were applied fairly and justly to all involved!

Excellent Attorney

Mr. Smith was very professional, articulate, and responsive during a few life changing investigations I was under for sexual assault, and other serious offenses stemming from allegations by my ex-wife I was extremely impressed with the way he handled standing up to Army CID Investigators and my ...military command team while still fostering a good relationship for me with my unit. In the end he managed to secure a favorable result for me, while protecting my innocence and my career through all the cases involved.

U.S. Air Force Civilian and Reserve Client

Matt did an outstanding job representing me as my defense attorney!!!! I was accused of sexual harassment and was being investigated by the OSI and ultimately found innocent. Being the accused of a crime like this was a shock to me and my family. I learned a lot during this process like the accused ...does not have a lot of rights and Matt did an awesome job launching an aggressive defense and bypassed the OSI and conducted his own investigation to provide to the command that I believe ultimately saved my career. He is very responsive when you need to get a hold of him whether on the phone, text, or e-mails. I hope that I never need this kind of help in the future, but if I do I will be using Matt Smith!! – U.S. Air Force Civilian Employee and Air Force Reservist Client

"Attorney Matthew T. Smith is one of the most knowledgeable, professional, and hard-working Judge Advocates I worked with during my active duty military career. As a civilian attorney, he is the kind of lawyer I would want representing me if I ever needed help: A creative, tenacious fighter who has no fear in the courtroom. Matt and I defended a Sailor at a contested GCM together, and those qualities helped us win a great result against the odds. I would want him on my team in any kind of case! If you have Matt Smith in your corner, you have the kind of legal advocate who can make a true difference. He has my strongest personal endorsement."
