Best lawyer I have ever worked with!

Several months ago my husband was arrested at our home. I was present before, during, and after the incident (which didn't involve me). Despite his asking the police wouldn't let my husband make any calls so, as they were taking him away, he asked me to call Michael Haber. I found the number, cal...led and Mr. Haber answered. I admit that I was a bit panicked but Mr. Haber was patient. He listened, helped me to calm down, and explain to him what had happened. He told me that he was going to call the police himself to try to get more information and that he'd call me right back, which he did. Mr. Haber instructed me how to appear for my husband's bond hearing and the very next morning we were all on Zoom. Mr. Haber appeared, made his argument for bond, and for reasons I really didn't understand the Judge reset the bond hearing for the following morning. The next day we had another Zoom hearing and Mr. Haber was so thorough, knowledgeable and persuasive that the Judge actually released my husband with out any bond at all. I didn't understand the process at all but Mr. Haber took the time to explain everything to me, after which I definitely understood. Mr. Haber answered all of my questions and assured me that everything would be okay. He was always available and polite and respectful and generous and caring to me and my family. It took about a month for Mr. Haber to get my husband's case to trial and when he did the Judge dismissed the case. I am so grateful that Mr. Haber was there for my family because I don't know what I would have done without him.

Dear Susy, Thank you very much for sharing your experience with #HaberPA with the folks. Yours is the second time in recent history that the spouse of a client has taken the time to author and submit a review (in your case #HaberPA's 219th Client Review) so I must be doing something exceptionally correct. That observed, I am well-aware of just how daunting the criminal justice system can be, especially for the uninitiated, and so it's an important part of my job to explain the mechanics to those who need to know, your husband's case being an excellent example. In those initial moments at your home, when your husband was first detained then "cuffed and stuffed", the hands-down most critical thing that you possibly could have done was to call me (a lawyer). You were able to provide me with real time information which I was able to parlay into both a greater understanding of the situation (not only for myself but also so as to be able to explain things to you) as well as into effective, persuasive argument for our impending bond hearing. Your husband had multiple issues. He had picked up a new violent domestic felony, which, on it's own is a significant problem, but, dovetailing it with the fact that he was serving felony probation at the time, the situation was dire. First, anyone on felony probation in FL who gets arrested for a new case is subject to a "No Bond" hold on the prior probation case. While Judges have the discretion to authorize bond for such folks (either at the prosecutor's request or sua sponte) they often deny the same for a variety of reasons (e.g. to sweat the probationer, to make a later plea more likely, to send a message to other probationers, etc.). Still, and although one can theoretically sit in jail for months on end while awaiting a PVH the Judge may, should s/he wish, grant a "Probation Bond". But, when, as was the case with your husband, one is designated as a "VFOSC" (a Violent Felony Offender of Special Concern - which happened in your husband's case simply because he was charged with a felony crime of violence while serving felony probation) then the Judge has no discretion, s/he is statutorily prohibited from granting a bond on the new case and that renders a probation bond meaningless. Fortunately you and I were able to speak and enjoyed free communication over the next 36 hours. My investigative team was able to secure surveillance footage of the actual incident (which was something that the cops either neglected to do or intentionally chose to avoid), you were able to provide me with significant historical context as well as incredible documentary evidence which plainly demonstrated malicious intent on behalf of the "alleged victim" and while your husband had to spend two (2) evenings in jail we were able to convince the Judge to deny VFOSC status and ROR (release on recognizance) your husband. After that the rest was relatively smooth sailing. Even though the prosecutor bought the complaining witness' BS story and filed the bogus new felony domestic charge we had an experienced Judge who gave us the courtesy of a quick "Stand Your Ground" Hearing and within about 6 weeks time your husband was granted statutory immunity, the new case was dismissed and your husband was reinstated to probation. Please believe me when I say to you that I could not possibly have accomplished my job without your generous effort and assistance. In truth your husband has you to thank every nit as much as myself, and I too must thank you (both for your generous client review and for helping me to help your family). Wising you and yours all the best this holiday season and beyond. Earnestly, MAH/Esq.

Outstanding Attorney

Mr. Haber was GOD sent ( I purposefully wanted to make this as my first statement in his review, as that is ABSOULTELY ( intentional CAPS) true!). I don’t think I can do any justice as I write this review on how grateful I am that I hired him for my legal case. It was in October 2020 when I was wrong...fully arrested for an act that I couldn’t have imagined to do even in my grave. The allegations and accusations that were described by the off-duty officer (who arrested me) were so horrific that he made it impossible for me to assure anyone anything that was said was so away from the truth/reality. He not only misunderstood my situation but then fabricated the event and perjured on the affidavit. It is depressing to see those who are actually responsible to safe guard you, turn around and become a threat to you. I have been a law abiding individual throughout my life and this wrongful arrest took a toll on me. As many are aware that there are vast options of selecting an attorney in this greater Miami- Dade area, it is so difficult to assess who is competent and skilled that you can trust for your life. I on the other hand was not very fortunate to select Mr. Haber immediately after my arrest ( as I didn’t know him). Upon searching for so-called well known attorneys, I selected and appointed my previous counsel ( whose name I am not going to purposefully mention, as that will be inappropriate) as my first choice. It was an absolute wrong choice. Nine months went by with no real progress on my case, and after spending pretty penny on him I was frustrated, nervous and doubtful on a successful outcome. I kept researching online regarding Criminal Justice System and came across avvo and found Mr. Haber. Reviewing all of the fantastic (and more importantly genuine) comments made by his past clients, I decided to give him a call ( to which I am sooo glad I did). It was a 45 minute initial call with him where he not only proposed a plan (with confidence) to achieve my primary litigation objective ( obtaining diversion) but he also eased my mind as I was hopeful that may be I will be able to someday see “light in the tunnel”. He was very thorough in laying out the plan and assisting with reaching my primary litigation objective- Diversion. After nine frustrating months and no progress on the case with my previous counsel, I was switched over to Mr. Haber. As soon he was appointed as my counsel, he immediately started working on the next steps as outlined in the plan. His communication skills were impeccable! He always kept me informed along way as we worked upon our plan. In addition, he made himself always available to answer any questions I had either via text, call or email. Five weeks from retaining him, he was able to successfully execute the plan and secure diversion (think about the happiness and relief he provided, it is like getting a second life). The time line is important to note, because on my initial call he had indicated that within 4-6 weeks from retaining him he would be able to provide a definitive answer if he would be able to secure diversion from the State. He stuck with his indicated turn-around time. Because of working in healthcare industry and having a professional license, I did not want to risk a loss at trial, hence was seeking diversion ( as a best alternative). As I enroll in diversion, I hope that my day nears where I successfully complete and graduate from the program so that we can subsequently follow with expungement. Mr. Haber’s professionalism, skill set, thorough follow -up and follow -through are commendable. I am confident that he can take on any complicated case, craft and execute an excellent plan and achieve a successful outcome. I wish and pray that no one gets entangled with the legal system, as the process is very frustrating and extremely nerve wracking, but if anyone does have to face this oppressive system then be assured that Mr. Haber would be the BEST and RIGHT attorney to defend your c

Dear Anonymous, Apart from a general and heartfelt "thank you so very much" for your incredibly kind and detailed Client Review (#216 for #HaberPA on AVVO) I want to take a moment to comment upon what I consider to be the most salient things that you mentioned. First, you hired me only after having already been thoroughly disappointed by a prior privately retained attorney, and for that I am both sorry (sorry for you in that you wasted time and money, you expended unnecessary worry and incurred needless stress for yourself and your family) and grateful (grateful that after such a horrific experience - with an otherwise and seeming competent lawyer - you took a leap of faith in choosing to retain #HaberPA to competently clean up the mess). Sadly, about 40% of my caseload includes clients such as you, to wit: Victims of what can most aptly be described as "p*ss poor lawyering". Second (although most importantly to my mind), you found and chose to speak with me because of other Client Reviews (Client Reviews which are not unlike this one / yours), which is a tribute not only to my competence, dedication and proven abilities but also to those literally hundreds of folks who, like you, so generously offered their time to express their experience and satisfaction with #HaberPA's legal services. Just as is the case with all who came before you, I am humbled, grateful and indebted to you for doing so here and now. Third, you retained me based upon our detailed discussions which culminated in a realistic, achievable and affordable plan of action, but this did not come to be either flippantly or free. Rather, it came from both a deep and detailed dive into the facts and circumstances of your case (e.g. an exhaustive review of all police reports, victim statements, nearly 2 hours of body-cam footage, your version of events and your supporting documents, including medical records, discussions with supporting and potential defense witnesses, etcetera), which culminated in our agreed strategy and which necessarily included tactics designed to undo the damage that your prior lawyer had inflicted upon your cause (be it intentionally or negligently, it was bad). Fourth, I truly appreciate your acknowledgement of my consistency with regard to availability and communication in general, but even more so as regards both my steadfast commitment to and my unwavering belief in achieving our agreed litigation objective (noting that if I do not believe then how are you to do so, much less how are we to expect either the State, the Judge or a Jury to believe?). Finally, while it is always ("always") crucial for to me to both be entirely honest and transparent with my clients (be it in regard to identifying realistic and achievable litigation objectives or otherwise), I also always ("always") remain attentive to the Client's wishes. In your case you wanted diversion. Period. You made this clear to both your first attorney and to myself. While I can't speak to discussions between you and your initial attorney in my case you maintained your desire for admission into diversion (which was something that the State absolutely refused to offer to you) despite my earnest belief that we would secure an acquittal at trial. Not withstanding our difference of opinion as to the best resolution, you were the client, you wanted what you wanted, it was neither illegal nor unethical and so I steeled myself with determination to make your wish a reality. All of this observed I want to take a moment to remind you of the Golden Rules of diversion (e.g. Do what you are supposed to do, when and how you are expected to do so and do not do anything that you are not supposed to do) and to say that I'm eager to expunge it for you. Thank you again for your most sincere and illustrative client review, congratulations on the successful resolution of your case and please accept my best wishes you and your family all of the best in happiness, health, luck and success. Fondly, MAH/Esq

Return of 36 firearms after police raided home

The police came to my house, arrested me and they confiscated all 36 of my guns. The case was such complete BS that even with a Public Defender it got dropped, but the police wouldn't return my firearms. I found Mike Haber on Google after I watched his video on getting guns back from the police and... then I called him. We spoke that same day and Mike assured me that if what I told him was true then he'd get me all of my guns back, and quickly. Of course it was all true, as was Mike's word because less than 3 weeks later Mike handed me a Court Order directing the police department to return all of my guns (and the cases, boxes, magazines, sights... everything but the ammo, which Mike told me to forfeit). I know that some people can't wrap their brain around why anyone has so many guns but, honestly, I don't care what they think. What I do care about is that Mike Haber didn't ask me, he didn't judge me and he didn't BS me. What he did for me was precisely what he said he would do, and quickly, just as he promised. If all lawyers were like Mike Haber then they'd have a better reputation. Thank you Mike!

Dear Anonymous, No one can accuse you of not knowing what time it is (or of not being prepared for a zombie apocalypse). That observed, I want to make a few comments about your situation and incredibly well-written and succinct review, but before I do I want to thank you most sincerely for having taken the time to author and publish #HaberPA's 214th Client Review on AVVO. First, little makes me happier than knowing that you located and hired me by way of a #HaberPA VideoFAQ (in this case # 281) How can I get my Gun back from the Police? - https://youtu.be/sRP_PLegJCo ). "MichaelHaberLaw" (#HaberPA's VideoFAQ / YouTube Channel - which can be accessed at the following link, presently has 375 short, creative and informative Criminal Defense, Criminal Law & Criminal Procedure, DUI, BUI, Domestic Violence, Crime Victim's Rights, Evidence and Seal & Expunge Webisodes with more than 600,000 views, just shy of 2,000 subscribers and to which I hope that anyone and everyone will subscribe - www.youtube.com/c/michaelhaberlaw ). Second, while I am grateful for your props as to my work ethic and work product I want to give a shout out to my PD colleagues who, despite being underpaid, underappreciated and over worked, are almost universally excellent lawyers, dedicated to their careers and clients even if they oftentimes drown under the weight of their caseloads. Finally, I want to highlight your comment that "he didn't judge me and he didn't BS me", as those are two things in which I also take great pride. It is not my job to judge my clients; however, depending upon the case it is my job to assess credibility, be it of persons or items evidence, and then to give my client honest advise based upon my experience. That said, given the nature of your case (a post-disposition return of property which had neither an evidentiary nor a forfeiture hold, to a person who has not been legally "disqualified" by any criteria) there was no basis for me to assess anything; rather, in this instance my job was to gather the necessary facts and documents so as to be able to prepare a legally sufficient motion, electronically file it, serve it on all relevant parties, calendar it for hearing (with sufficient time for all other parties to respond and appear) and then litigate the heck out of it... which we did, successfully. That said, my gratitude for your Client Review knows no bounds. Be safe, be good and let's hope that this was your first and last foray with the criminal justice system. Earnestly, MAH/Esq.

Criminal Defense

Mike Haber represented me a few years ago on my first felony arrest. He got the charges dropped and I figured that was that, but I got myself arrested again, and this time it was far more serious. Not only was I staring at a loss of liberty but because of my actions I was also facing the loss of my... family. If I did not know Mike then I would be more surprised but I do know him, and so, in hindsight it's no surprise at all that he was tough with me. Mike demanded that I do things that I definitely did not want to do and also that I not do things that I definitely wanted to do, but in hindsight I know that he made these demands with purpose... in fact with multiple purposes. Mike's plan was to save both my life and my family by forcing me to confront and change myself. He made me enter individual and group therapy. He made me enroll in a 26 week anger management course. He made me avoid certain people and situations. He put together a team to assist me in every way and he was on top of me every few days, holding me to account, checking in and checking up, but also offering encouragement and support. In the end I know that I did all the heavy lifting, but if I'm being honest I would not have known where to start, much less whether I would have followed-though without Mike's steadfast support. Mike Haber is a great lawyer but he is an even better friend. Thank you Mike.

Dear Anonymous, Thank you very much for your most eloquent expression (in the form of #HaberPA's 213th Client Review on AVVO). Once a criminal case is closed I consider my former client to be a friend, and so, as in your situation, it's always bitter-sweet when a current friend returns as a repeat client (bitter in that the last place where I'd like to see you is again involved with the criminal justice system yet sweet in that a) by hiring me again you have exhibited your complete confidence in my ability and desire to help you and b) as such, I am ever-honored to have earned that privilege). Still, in this existence one of the few certain existential observations is that life is full of unpredictable events (or, more simply put, "sh*t happens"), and so it came to pass that you became a repeat client. Apart from expressing my gratitude (for both re-hiring #HaberPA and for your current Client Review) the only comment that I am compelled to make about your kind review is that I did neither "made" (in terms of applying any force) nor did I "demand" that you do anything; rather, with your input I established and you agreed to commit to a multi-tiered plan which was designed to levy an effective challenge the charges while also paving the path for responsible, objective mitigation, should the same ever be required. But the true beauty of the plan which I set in place was that it had the added benefits of providing a support system which effectively reduced your risk during the process (which, largely due to CoVid, took a full year to resolve) while both educating you as to how to adopt and incorporate more balanced management and coping skills into your life while concurrently taking proactive measures which indisputably demonstrated your earnest and most heartfelt desire to save your family. You are 1,000% correct when you observe that "In the end I know that I did all the heavy lifting", because you did; moreover, you did so in a completely steadfast, determined and unwavering fashion, and you should be incredibly proud of yourself for your total accomplishments and complete success. Had you failed, on any level at any time in any capacity (noting that there were limitless possibilities for any such breakdown) then we likely would not be having this pleasant discourse. All of that said, I am gratified that you are (once again) pleased with both my services and the outcome and I am both proud of you and happy that we are back in "friend" (as opposed to "client") status. Now all you have to do is to stay the course! Fondly, MAH/Esq.

Returning Property (firearm) from POLICE

I used to work with another lawyer who promised me to return my firearm without any problems from HOMESTEAD POLICE DEPARTMENT and since that past almost one year and nothing. I was very sad. I start surfing YouTube trying find any help and BIG THANK YOU to the Michael Adam Haber PA, he having the ...YouTube channel where he was explaining how you can return your property from whoever impound your gun! I hired mr. Haber PA in to weeks I had hearing where Judge granted my motion of returning my property from HPD. My experience with Haber PA are fantastic He was clear always when explaining things to me! He always respond to my email and text messages OTHER lawyers don’t do that! I will be recommending him to all my friends who need a criminal lawyer! Thank you once again from everything!

Dear Hernando, Thank you so very much for your kind words and for authoring #HaberPA's 210th Client Review on AVVO. The number of people who come to me with 100% legitimate complaints about their lawyers never ceases to amaze me, and while I'd prefer to be the guy who gets the job done right in the first instance I'm also always happy to come in and clean up some other sub-standard lawyer's mess. I am also particularly grateful to you for explaining to the folks how you met me (to wit: by watching one of #HaberPA's VideoFAQs on our YouTube channel "MichaelHaberLaw" - in this instance # 281 - How can I get my Gun back from the Police? @ https://youtu.be/sRP_PLegJCo ). #HaberPA's VideoFAQ started as an experiment but has evolved into a significant source of information and business, with all of our 375 short, creative and informative Criminal Defense, Criminal Law & Criminal Procedure, DUI, BUI, Domestic Violence, Crime Victim's Rights, Evidence and Seal & Expunge Webisodes being available through my AVVO attorney profile (of course I welcome anyone to view them via AVVO's platform but I will be especially grateful for a subscription to: www.youtube.com/c/michaelhaberlaw ). That said, it took 2 weeks from the day that you and I first spoke for me to secure (in hand) a certified Court Order requiring the HPD to return your firearm to you, but I also secured and provided you with the protocol from HPD (including HPD's "Firearm's Claim Form", without which you could not regain possession of your gun) and connected you with the Record's Custodian who was CC'd with all documents (the Motion, the Notice of Hearing and the Court Order) in real time. It matters not whether I am tasked with a filing a procedural motion such as yours or a jury trial or anything in between, as no matter what the objective #HaberPA will always pay attention to the client and the client's needs, field your questions, ease your concerns and otherwise keep you in the loop until such time as we have provided the precise service for which we were retained. It is only by serving our clients in this boutique fashion that we can hope to earn your positive client review at the conclusion of your case. I am thrilled that you are happy and that "My experience with Haber PA are fantastic" and more I could not possibly ask. Take care, be safe and well and welcome to the #HaberPA family. Gratefully, MAH/Esq.

"I endorse this lawyer. I first met Mike about 20 years ago when I was a Special Prosecutor in the Narcotics Unit at the Miami Dade State Attorney's Office. He was and still is a hard working and knowledgable attorney, who fought for his client then and still does today. He has always been honest, fair and ethical. He is always fighting to achieve the best possible results for his clients. When I left the Miami Dade State Attorney's Office to start my private practice, I maintained my relationship with him and he and I would consult each other on some of our individual cases. He is a wealth of information and our friendship has grown over the years. "I endorse this lawyer. Attorney Haber in my opinion is an attorney that is truly for the people. I have followed him for a few years now, and remain inestimably impressed with both the amount of knowledge he has in criminal law and also the amount of knowledge he gives to anyone in need of legal guidance. Attorney Haber has a way of breaking down complex legal concepts into very understandable pieces that can be easily digested by someone not so familiar with legal phrases and wording. To have the career he has and the number of years he has dedicated to this craft and still be willing to help out the community at large at a second's notice is what I feel makes him a continual asset and resource to both the legal community and the state of Florida."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
