No Bill!

Mr. Sullivan is a great lawyer. He got my son's case no billed after a false charge. I knew my son was innocent & Mr. Sullivan proved that in his packet, to the Grand Jury! Thank you Mr. Sullivan for all your hard work & dedication to the case!

Outstanding Attorney

I hired Jim Sullivan for my daughters felony evading arrest and theft case. I could not be any happier with my decision. He is an amazing attorney and a very compassionate and understanding human being. Both of my daughters cases were dismissed! I would highly reccomend Jim Sullivan to anyone needing... a criminal defense attorney.

A very good attorney, a good man and a true blessing.

As an attorney, Jim Sullivan is low profile, down to earth, insightful, and most importantly, effective. I had met with other attorneys that presented a tough and flashy image and claimed to be the best in town, but I chose Jim because I trusted his integrity, capability and sincerity to do his best ...in representing me in the criminal case (theft) that was charged against me. I was proven to have made a sound judgment - Jim had my case totally dismissed without a trial setting, two months after the charge was made against me. From what I have observed, Jim does not just apply a standard formula to a case and then proceed in the legal system’s “production line.” Instead, he thinks outside the box and he catches details that are critical to properly define the nature of an event and he goes on to break through a seemingly impossible situation. Jim is a very good attorney, a good man and a true blessing.

Domestic violence

On May 6,2016 i was arrested for domestic violence, soon as the cops came to my house they handcuff me,put me in the patrol car to investigate. On that night,my wife for hours, hours nag me to the point i jumped on top of her to tell her stop it.The cops said my wife said that i tried to chock her, that ...they seen burse marks on her neck. The police took me to jail and this was my first time going to jail at the age of 45.I hired Mr.Sullivan to be my attorney and when he requested the pictures of my wife neck,911 call the state did not have it at all so there wasn't enough evidence to build a package for the grand jury to get a no bill. The day i went to court the prosecutor didnt want to drop the charges but he didnt want to do a trial by jury because there wasn't enough evidence to get a conviction but the deal was that if i pled guilty the state would lower the charge from a felony to a class A misdemeanor because i never been in any trouble before so i took that deal to avoid a trial by jury and sometime the jury dont get it right by me being a black man.I explain to Mr.Sullivan that i cant have a felony on my record to keep my job so he worked hard to get the charge lowered to a misdemeanor and it worked so i can maintain my work status at my job that i worked for 25 years. If anyone gets in trouble Mr.James Sullivan would be the man i would want in cases like this.

Dissatisfied very Upset

Originally called for Mr. Sullivan and Nancy Botts answered told me he wasn't available and she decided to take my case I actually thought she was his secretary and I'm sorry I hired her and wish I would have spoken with Mr. Sullivan instead. I had a case of Assault - Bodily Injury (never been in tr...ouble a day in my life) and Nancy Botts who handled my case did absolutely NOTHING in court for the amount of money I paid her. I paid a cash bond to get a court date which was the arraignment and when the date came, I seen a BIG red flag about Nancy who lied and withheld information from me. I should have walked away then but me always trying to see good in people I decided to go forth. Second court date came court began at 9:30, Nancy called me while still in the uber at 9:32 stating I am just going to sign paperwork and do an online course, and my case will be dismissed. Not realizing until I started reading the agreement it was a pretrial intervention not what I wanted or was looking forward too and Nancy never explained that it was a PTI, just baited me to sign paperwork for easy money. I feel like I was scammed. I arrived at court 15 minutes late because of uber. Nancy tells lies for a living, so she lied to her client and didn't inform me of nothing that happened while I wasn't there in court. Nancy never showed me any video evidence , she never spoke to me about my options, never fought for me as her client and just settled for easy money and made a poor decision on my behalf while I was not yet in court. She began to become very rude with and spoke to me very harsh. Had I would have known she was a court appointed attorney I would have never hired her. Please stay away from hiring Nancy, she will not go the extra mile for a dismissal and I regret I hired her and would have paid Mr. Sullivan whatever he asked for a dismissal which is the reason I called him in the first place because of the awesome reviews. Sorry this wasn't a review for Mr. Sullivan and my success story I would have had with him. :-(

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
