My review

I am very grateful to Attorney Sullivan for his work on my case. He is very professional and I have the utmost respect for him. He helped me in a time of need and he worked diligently on my case. When I was struggling, he was understanding and compassionate to what I was going through. Any time I cal...led he was quick to return my calls and answer any questions that I had. I am so grateful to have him as my lawyer. His fees are reasonable, his results superb. I highly recommend Mr. James Sullivan. He went above and beyond to help me through this rough time in my life.

He cares

I'm in the process of hiring him now. After countless other attorneys so called consultations, he was the ONLY one who took the time to answer my questions, and actually took the time to listen to our concerns. He also advised me on things I wasn't even aware of. I honestly felt he genuinely cared. ... I am confident that I am making the absolute best decision.

He was an answer to our prayers!

I want to express my sincere appreciation to Mr. Sullivan, for the care, consideration and respect he showed my family and son, he is truly an answer to our prayers. A few months ago, our 14 yr old son who is kind, funny, caring and who had never been in any trouble EVER, made a poor decision that re...sulted in him being arrested at school and sent to ALC for 30 days awaiting a court date. Our son heard of some other boys at his school going into the girls bathroom on a dare to see if they could get in and out without getting caught. Due to immaturity and curiosity our son decided he’d try it and was caught by a female student. He had his cell phone out and was accused of trying to film a girl in a stall, a serious invasion of her privacy. Our sons cell phone was taken away, searched and no recordings were found, however the officer scared our son into saying he was trying to film her. The parents of the girl pressed felony Invasive Recording charges against our son. This was a very scary and stressful time for our family, we felt like we were in a nightmare, we were frantic to help our son. Mr. Sullivan has a great reputation working with juveniles, so we met with him. He spent over 2 hours talking to us, getting to know us and our son, asking the why’s, when’s, and how’s of my son’s actions that day. I appreciated the personal stories he had to offer and love the fact that he is a strong Christian man. I remember his advice to our son about having a strong “moral compass”, how every decision in life is a choice and that a moral compass would guide him to make the right decisions. Mr. Sullivan explained the wisdom of learning from mistakes and staying on the right path in life, and that the wrong path can easily become a “slippery slope” of one bad decision after another leading to painful consequences and a difficult life. Mr. Sullivan is kind, understanding and non-judgmental and gave our son some powerful words. He calmed our fears by telling us we needed to take care of our son and ourselves and he’d be working hard to get us through this with the best possible outcome. My husband and I tried hard not to worry, but our son’s future was at stake. Mr. Sullivan made us feel confident and gave us wonderful words of wisdom to help us through. Fast forward to our court date, our son had the real possibility of being convicted of a felony, which would have hurt our son’s life. Mr. Sullivan felt strongly that our son wasn’t a bad or deviant kid but a teenage boy who is immature, didn’t think his decision through and acted impulsively. Being in the juvenile courthouse and standing with our son in front of the judge was a very overwhelming experience and which I don’t ever want to do again. Mr. Sullivan’s argument to the judge was strong, precise and valid and resulted in an outcome that was better than we could have hoped. Our son received a pretrial diversion, an alternative to prosecution, where our son remains under our supervision with some restrictions and after 6 months results in the felony being dismissed and the opportunity to get his record sealed. Mr. Sullivan then had a very heartfelt conversation with our son explaining the importance of taking the pretrial diversion seriously and successfully completing it and also the dire consequences should he not do so. As a parent of two great sons, I NEVER imagined that we would ever be dealing with anything like this. I want to thank Mr. Sullivan for not only defending our son in such a professional and kind manner but also how he put himself in our shoes by looking at our situation as if he were the teen in trouble and also the anxious parent! I truly believe this could have gone very bad, but thanks to this brilliant man our son has his future back! With the deepest respect and appreciation, DT

Best Defense Possible

I have had epilepsy since 2010. In July 2017 I had a seizure and while in a postictal statefollowing the seizure I lit a gasoline fire on the garage’s concrete floor of a rental house. It was an irrational attempt to defend my wife from a former friend and tenant who wasattacking her. During the attac...k, he accidentally knocked over a gas can that spilled gas.The fire stopped the attack but also spread to the gas can, which my wife immediatelythrew into the front yard and was extinguished by the police that arrived a few momentslater. My wife had called the police a few minutes before because the former friend hadthreatened to get his gun. He is also a drug user and violent, but his father is a policeofficer. As a result, even though my wife’s parents witnessed what happened, I was theone arrested by the police and charged with arson after the fire marshal’s office gotinvolved.Attorney Jim Sullivan was highly recommended to me by an associate that works at a lawfirm in Houston. I gave Mr. Sullivan a call that day and spoke with his associate NancyBotts, who took thorough notes on the case, and passed the word onto Jim who thenreturned my call within hours. We spoke about 45 minutes about my incident and what alltook place. He agreed to accept my first degree felony case that day for a very reasonableamount of money. Shortly after that we all met in person for a few hours to discuss theentire story, my medical problem and the erratic behavior that took place. After askingmy wife and her parents detailed questions about their observations that day and the next,he believed that my condition played a role in the event. He believed strongly from dayone that the charges were wrong and unjust. Jim always represented himself to beconfident in our ability to have my case dismissed from court, long before ever having togo to trial. Jim said that it is exceedingly rare for an epilepsy defense to work, but he wasconfident he could do it.Hurricane Harvey caused a delay in my case due to the courthouse flooding. Jim Sullivanalways represented me in timely, professional, and caring fashion. He spent immenseamounts of time researching epilepsy, learning what it is, the various types of seizure, how it affects a person, along with tons of man hours putting together an incredibledefense packet to present to the grand jury. He also asked my neurologist detailedquestions about whether a simple partial seizure could explain my erratic behavior, mymemory recall two hours later when I was questioned by the police and other pertinentdetails of the case. The neurologist agreed that a simple partial seizure was entirelyplausible and possible, that my behavior would have been non-volitional and agreed towrite a letter explaining why. Once the grand jury read over the lengthy defense packet, the week after Thanksgiving, my case was no billed.Throughout this entire process, I had two brain surgeries and am now seizure free. JimSullivan and his practice were amazing and I would highly recommend him to friends, family, and everyone. Lord forbid if I am ever again in a situation that would involve hisexpertise, I will certainly call Jim Sullivan and seek his counsel before ever trying anyoneelse

Loves the Law

Jim Sullivan is honest and hard-working. He loves the law and knows it well. Every interaction I have had with him has been positive and I will continue to use Jim as my legal representation in the future. All communication was timely, professional and directly from him. Jim promptly responded to que...stions via phone or email. Fees for services were reasonable and he was able to get court fees reduced significantly. Jim was able to take on my case and prepare with just 3 days notification. I felt confident by his side and he accomplished everything he set out to do in regards to helping me. Jim took the time to get to know me and listen to what was important to me. I will not hesitate to refer friends or family to Jim Sullivan, knowing they too will be in capable hands.
