A Godsend!

I was charged with Identity Theft in the First and Grand Larceny in the Third Degree. Both are "D" felonies punishable by up to seven years in prison. I was also charged with Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree, which is an "E" felony, punishable by up to four years in prison. The all...egations involved the spending of $25,000 through the use of a fraudulently opened credit card with another person's credit. The falsification of records involved the application for the credit card and a loan on top of that. One felony will ruin anybody's life and future prospects, let alone 3. As dumb as my crime was, I am currently pursuing a profession where even a misdemeanor can bar entry. Any kind of criminal record would have end my career before it even started. Jeremy worked a deal with the D.A. and at the end, 2 of the charges were dismissed, and the last dropped to Disorderly Conduct with no conditions. Disorderly Conduct is a violation, not a crime and will not produce a criminal record. I did not serve probation nor was I ordered to do community service. Any case resolved in the defendant's favor (meaning no criminal convictions) will ultimately be sealed in New York State. Sealed records are not accessible by the public, which includes employers. In short, I DO NOT HAVE A CRIMINAL RECORD, did no probation or community service. Jeremy Saland is truly a Godsend and I will never regret choosing him to represent me. He got me my future back. I had a public defender at first and I KNOW FOR A FACT, that if I had stuck with the public defender, I would have a record. Jeremy is extremely professional, will not fool you, will let you know well in advance what you stand against and will advise and guide you properly through your ordeal. Additionally, he's understanding and very kind with his business practices. If you're reading this review and are in a similar situation or worse, you need to choose Jeremy right now because he will save you in more ways than one. Just call him and work something out.

From Devastation to Exoneration... Criminal Case Dismissed

From Devastation to Exoneration... This is literally the transition that Jeremy Saland brought to my life when he grabbed the judicial reigns that my daughter's father sought to restrict me with when he falsely accused me of assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Making matters worse, he was... able to obtain two orders of protection restraining me from him (which was not really an issue) as well as my baby. My daughter's father had entered into the emergency room where I was caring for my ailing child who is less than a year old. He pushed me, spilled my child's medicine and became very aggressive. Defending myself, I pushed him back. Unfortunately, no staff members were present. After the "incident" my child's father went to the police station to file charges against me. As a full time working parent with a daughter who has frequent hospitalizations due to a rare congenital disease, I was distraught. Furthermore, I was upset because any allegation of assault was unquestionably false. After speaking to Jeremy, I recall that I was cautiously optimistic. He came across as an experienced and knowledgeable lawyer, but also as a compassionate person. Jeremy managed the situation with the right mix of finesse and aggression. He arranged for me to surrender myself to the detective, expedited the time I was in the holding cell (as its a mandatory arrest for domestic situations) and ensured that I was released on my own recognizance without bail. He also worked to reduce the Order of Protection against my daughter to a limited one over the objection of prosecutors. Sadly, my child's father had little involvement in caring for our child and I was the primary caregiver who juggled work with frequent trips to the doctor and hospital. In the final analysis, Jeremy actively pursued the case so that it was dismissed in its entirety and sealed. I am grateful that the false claim did not lead to any criminal record. I can now proceed to family court without worrying about false criminal allegations being used as a smoke screen in the custody/visitation battle that my daughter's father has since commenced.

Recent Client Review

I retained Jeremy Saland after I was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor. Although I reached out to multiple attorneys, Jeremy was was responsive, confident and supportive. More importantly, Jeremy knew the law and walked me through the entire process. During the course of my case I became increa...singly nervous because I work and finance and I am working on obtaining my citizenship. To make matter's worse, the DA's Office was not making the offer we wanted. Jeremy even dug up paperwork that contradicted what the prosecutor said, but she still refused to make the offer we wanted. Ultimately, we took the case to trial and we went before a judge for that purpose. Jeremy told me to stay calm even though we were about to begin the trial. Before the trial started, Jeremy went back to the prosecutor. I don't know how he did it, but at that point the DA's Office gave in and we got more than I hoped for. Instead of risking the misdemeanor or taking their original offer, I pleaded to violation and paid a $150 fine. Upon paying the fine, which I did minutes later, I came back to court and the DA's Office and the judge agreed to let me vacate my plea (withdraw it!). The judge then dismissed the case and sealed it. I really could not be happier. I avoided a criminal record and the case was dismissed. This was better than an ACD! Jeremy went to court with me a half a dozen times and each time told me to stay calm. Even if one approach didn't work he tried something new and NEVER GAVE UP! Jeremy was outstanding and honest as well as responsive and knowledgeable. I recommend him 100%!

"There are few criminal lawyers in New York City who are as skilled, aggressive, and compassionate as Jeremy Saland. I regularly refer him clients in New York City and Westchester and I am always pleased with the outcomes. He fights aggressively for his clients, even if it ruffles the feathers of the District Attorney's office. And as a former DA himself, Jeremy seems like he has their playbook in hand. He is always a step ahead of his adversary."

"I have known Jeremy since our days as fellow prosecutors in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, where Jeremy was highly respected for his courtroom skills and knowledge of the criminal law. Since bringing those skills and knowledge to private practice, he has obtained outstanding results for his clients. In fact, when one of my civil litigation clients was arrested, and I was prevented from representing him due to a conflict of interests, I referred the case to Jeremy. Jeremy did a fantastic job and got all of the charges against my client case dismissed. Needless to say, my client and I were both very pleased and impressed with Jeremy's abilities, work ethic, and integrity throughout the entire process. Should a similar situation arise in the future, I would not hesitate to refer my client to Jeremy."
