Jeremy represented me with getting an order of protection from family court against my ex, my ex went later fabricated a story that was demonstrably false and had me arrested. With time and effort, Jeremy was able to convince the prosecutor to dismiss the case on the merits despite my ex and her coun...sel aggressively pursuing the false allegations. Unfortunately, there is an assumption because I was the man that I was culpable for wrongdoing when I was always the victim. It is that much harder to exonerate yourself when the lies are pursued so vigorously by the other side and the prosecutor’s first instinct is to believe the accuser. Nevertheless, Jeremy was relentless yet calm in his efforts to see that true justice was served, the DA dismissed my case on the merits because I had done absolutely nothing wrong, and to keep my family court order of protection against my ex in place so she could no longer abuse me.

Dealing with the legal side of having false allegations made against you is a living nightmare. Having someone you love do it makes the pain twice as bad. Jeremy and Liz could not have been more helpful during a time in my life where an ex became aggressive and frightening. Not only did my ex stalk and threaten me, but he tried to humiliate me with intimate images we previously shared. After meeting with Liz to explore our options, Jeremy then ran with... my case and arranged for an order of protection in Manhattan’s Family Court. In fact, Jeremy drafted the petition and took the steps to reach an agreement with my abuser’s lawyer. Instead of a drawn out process where I would have to have him served and return to court, Jeremy got my ex to come to court the same day we applied for an order and he agreed to accept the restraining order on my terms. This included the destruction of any images my ex might still have. Unfortunately, my ex reached out to me directly and through a friend in violation of the order of protection. Jeremy immediately returned to court with a violation petition and again arranged for a resolution with my ex prior to filing. Saving me time, limiting the need for me to have to see my ex, and keeping costs down. My ex appeared the same day we filed and agreed to extend the order of protection to five years. Jeremy’s and Liz’s advice and clear expertise in protection orders was clear and the efforts to prioritize my safety sincere. In the midst of my divorce proceedings my husband accused me of assaulting him in front of my children. When the police came they arrested me because the law mandates arrests in domestic violence allegations even though my husband lied. My matrimonial attorney got ahold of Jeremy and he was immedi...ately available to move me through the system and get me out. One of his colleagues even convinced the judge to issue a limited order of protection to allow me back home despite the DA's request. Jeremy ultimately got me in front the the ADA and her supervisor to tell them what really happened. After our meeting and other work by Jeremy the DA dismissed the entire case even over my husband's objection. Jeremy was kind and considerate. He not only got the case dismissed but he was supportive and communicative the entire time.

From Devastation to Exoneration... This is literally the transition that Jeremy Saland brought to my life when he grabbed the judicial reigns that my daughter's father sought to restrict me with when he falsely accused me of assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Making matters worse, he was... able to obtain two orders of protection restraining me from him (which was not really an issue) as well as my baby. My daughter's father had entered into the emergency room where I was caring for my ailing child who is less than a year old. He pushed me, spilled my child's medicine and became very aggressive. Defending myself, I pushed him back. Unfortunately, no staff members were present. After the "incident" my child's father went to the police station to file charges against me. As a full time working parent with a daughter who has frequent hospitalizations due to a rare congenital disease, I was distraught. Furthermore, I was upset because any allegation of assault was unquestionably false. After speaking to Jeremy, I recall that I was cautiously optimistic. He came across as an experienced and knowledgeable lawyer, but also as a compassionate person. Jeremy managed the situation with the right mix of finesse and aggression. He arranged for me to surrender myself to the detective, expedited the time I was in the holding cell (as its a mandatory arrest for domestic situations) and ensured that I was released on my own recognizance without bail. He also worked to reduce the Order of Protection against my daughter to a limited one over the objection of prosecutors. Sadly, my child's father had little involvement in caring for our child and I was the primary caregiver who juggled work with frequent trips to the doctor and hospital. In the final analysis, Jeremy actively pursued the case so that it was dismissed in its entirety and sealed. I am grateful that the false claim did not lead to any criminal record. I can now proceed to family court without worrying about false criminal allegations being used as a smoke screen in the custody/visitation battle that my daughter's father has since commenced.
