Don’t give up, keep fighting.

My son was taken the week he was born. I had a messy case to start with. No support from family, a very abusive and vindictive father of my child. He purposely had me arrested to “make me look like bad mom they would take my son” Domestic violence and unwillingness to leave the situation lead to my s...on being detained. I found Evelyn Cox I knew from our first meeting she would represent me. Evelyn said to me they are not going to give you your baby back. I hired her because she obviously wasn’t giving me a fantasy. This was the reality I knew these people wanted to adopt my newborn without giving me a fighting chance. I told Evelyn I will do the work, and give her the material to fight with. That’s what we have done. Along the way I had some major turning points that were ugly and bad some of these are part my own personal spiritual journey with God. But these events we worked with and my son returned home for family Maintance. A week before my case was set to be closed, I had a new incident with a new boyfriend I’m really upset with myself because my son is back in the foster home. This time instead of Evelyn telling me there not giving you your baby back she telling me there is hope for my son to return home. The most recent incident doesn’t look good but it’s also not domestic violence I trusted someone with a criminal background because “he mad me feel loved” Parents reading this considering or have hired Evelyn. LISTEN TO HER she told me no boyfriends when I do date tell my therapist about him. Guess what I didn’t do! I didn’t tell my therapist and only told people that wouldn’t tell me straight up don’t date inside your home. Now I’m back fighting for my son again. Lessen learned HARD way... again. Seriously when it comes to our children we have to have and listen to the support that’s the truth and Evelyn tells you how it is not sugar coating. I believe Evelyn knows the ins and outs of the laws for dependency court tremendously well. Even though she has explained to me that the law has run out of time for this child to be reunified there is still hope it’s always up to the judge. I hope to write an ending review that my son is home and our case is closed. If that’s not the case it will have been own fault. Evelyn has fought for me hard she has used he knowledge to get things done in my case that otherwise wouldn’t have happened without her. Evelyn even responds to emails on Sundays! I wrote her knowing I would forget Monday morning, assuming she would respond Monday. She promptly responded! Evelyn has met with me on Saturday’s and office meetings are not billed. These meetings have focused my mindset and prepared us for court. Helpful to me because I have to work toward reunification Monday -Friday and I hired her from out of town. Evelyn truly cares about her work. Children are innocent in the matters of what the adults do that brings family’s before the judge. Evelyn truly cares about the best interest of the children involved in these cases. It shows through her work ethic, her honesty, and her no BS attitude. She tells you how it is, if you listen and work hard yourself she can and will help you.

Thank you very much Eve

When my adolescent son first went to court he had a public defender. I thought she did her job (my ignorance), but realized how uneducated I was of the law and court procedures. I called Eve for help and help me she did. She was all of the above, in addition to being a very kind attorney with re...asonable rates. She gave her opinions (which she did have) but supported what my son and his family wanted to do and took it to the judge. The judge usually agreed with her. That I found quite amazing as I didn't didn't think judges could be that agreeable. Since then I have realized what skill Eve has in working with with the court. Eve answered question after question when I called or emailed or saw her in person. She was quite wiling to educate the novice parent about the court room the law, She was paaionate in offering me education about the court, passionate in her representation of my son. Today my son is 18. He is not in jail. He goes to school He manages to abide by the rules to live at home. I credit Eve's talent, experience, passion for her work and professionalism for this happening.. Thank you very much, Eve.

Most Knowledgeable Person in the Court

We hired Eve to represent my juvenile son. Without counsel he had accepted a deferred entry of judgement. When he failed to meet the terms, he was brought back into court for "stealing" a police bait car. Actually, on a dare (and for $40), he drove down the lane of a parking lot, turned around, and p...arked the car two spaces from where it had been parked. He was in and out so quickly, that the police had no time to react. He was identified later by use of the tape. Eve recommended that my son admit his guilt and take the work furlough weekends that would likely come his way. Well, for the next 4 years, Zack continued to have issues with probation and the juvenile justice system. In each subsequent court appearance Eve kept my son and us fully advised as to what was going to happen. Before every appearance she met privately with the judge and the prosecutor to work out the best plan of action in my son's best interest. Recommend her highly

Evelyn Ann Cox

I highly recommend attorney Evelyn Cox. I hired Ms. Evelyn Cox to represent me a year ago in Juvenile Dependency Court hearings. I had been a trained certified foster parent for my child under CPS for 3 years, and I had already independently applied for and was granted De Facto Parent status by the... Court. However, I realized at a crucial point of the process that even though I researched the Court website to try to understand the procedures, I still had absolutely no knowledge of how to formally address the Juvenile Dependency Court. After contacting the Juvenile Dependency Court for a private attorney referral list, I obtained the name of attorney Evelyn Cox and I am glad I scheduled a consultation with her. Ms. Cox possesses many years of experience and expertise working as both Court appointed and private counsel in Juvenile Dependency Court Hearings. She is straight forward and does not waste time, and her fees are very reasonable. I was highly pleased with her work and representation for me. I would definitely recommend Evelyn Cox to every one who takes juvenile dependency matters seriously and is in need of counsel.

CPS Battle

Evelyn Cox was a very helpful, responsive attorney who from day one had a grasp on my situation. She basically told me everything I would need to do in order to get my child back; and from my understanding, I got my daughter back a lot sooner than many other cases. She did not sugar coat the issues... (which I greatly appreciated) and really explained the way the system works so I had a better understanding of this entire court/CPS process. I firmly believe that even with all the hard work I put in trying to get my child back and all the hoops I jumped through, if it weren't for Evelyn, I probably still would not have her back to this day!
