About Alexandra

Biography

Alexandra is a founding partner of the González & Waddington Law Firm, and a Georgia registered mediator. She has represented and defended hundreds of defendants charged with sexual assault and has worked on some of the most notorious war crime cases stemming from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Alexandra & her law partner, Michael, wrote three of the leading textbooks on cross-examination, Pattern Cross-Examination for Sexual Assault Cases: A Trial Strategy & Resource Guide, Pattern Cross-Examination for DNA and Biological Evidence, and Pattern Cross-Examination of Expert Witnesses, published by the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL). These books are used by criminal defense lawyers across the United States.

Many of Alexandra’s cases have been reported on by hundreds of major media sources worldwide, to include 60 Minutes, ABC’s Nightline, The Rolling Stone, the BBC, Fox News, German Public Television, CNN, CBS, and various other international media outlets.

At the 2017 National Trial Lawyers Summit, Alexandra lectured to hundreds of the top trial lawyers from across the United States (click here to read more). Her lecture, Appealing to Diverse Juries Without Building Walls, taught trial lawyers how to effectively select and communicate with diverse juries in criminal and civil cases. Relying on the firm’s jury trial experience and academic studies, Alexandra demonstrated how picking a jury based on stereotypes can lose cases, while excellent Voir Dire can help win cases. The Summit took place at the Loews Miami Beach in South Beach, Florida.

Alexandra was one of the first lawyers to serve as a Public Defender for the Augusta Judicial Circuit. During that time, she worked on various types of cases, including rape, sexual assault, larceny, violent crimes, and domestic violence. She graduated from Temple Beasley School of Law in Philadelphia, PA, where she successfully completed Templeʼs nationally ranked Integrated Trial Advocacy Program.

In 2015-2021, she wrote chapters in the American Bar Association (ABA) books, “The State of Criminal Justice.” This annual publication examines major issues, trends and significant changes in the criminal justice system, and is one of the cornerstones of the ABAʼs Criminal Justice Sectionʼs work. Additionally, this publication serves as an invaluable resource for policy-makers, academics, and students of the criminal justice system.

Alexandra was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She graduated from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Lt Col w/23 years facing felony drug charges at a General Court Martial. Not Guilty!

I was facing 2 counts of UCMJ 112a, being a convicted felon, up to 10 years in prison and a dismissal. When I was arrested, I was completely shocked and knew that I needed counsel and not to say anything, but that was the extent of my knowledge. I had never been in trouble and now I am being told, ...I will lose everything. I called the Waddington Firm and my first contact was with Alexandra, it was refreshing to hear someone interested in how you are doing and trying to get every detail to help shape your case. What I did not know, is that when you hire one, you get both. The Waddington’s are a powerhouse. I am a single parent, facing not only losing my retirement, but my VA benefits, even my house. I did my research, took a long look at everything I could find, I didn’t want a good lawyer, I wanted the very best lawyer there is. When comparing up to $4 million in retirement benefits and paying up to $50,000 to have your life back, you do not “skimp” on getting good enough. You get the absolute most experienced, best trial council there is, that is Michael Waddington. The bonus is, you also get Alexandra, they work together are married and really you don’t want one without the other. The government only needs probably cause to take you to a general court martial, a positive urinalysis is that probable cause. I did not hire Mr. Waddington to find me a plea deal, I hired Mr. Waddington because he is the very best trial defense lawyer there is. There was not a close second that I found. He is routinely ranked in the top 100 lawyers in the country, he has defended more federal cases, actually fought it out in court, than anyone I could find. Do not take being charged by the government lightly. The government has unlimited resources and time. Do not try to beat the government alone, get someone who will fight for you, someone who does this job only for service members, get someone with honor and integrity, get Michael Waddington. Everyone wants to win, I was more concerned about that than how, but Michael and Alexandra are honest, with integrity and defended me in a way that impressed the prosecution, the judge and the 8 Colonels on the panel. I cannot say enough about how these two fine Americans, operate like a well-oiled machine, they are both excellent lawyers, and you will never regret hiring them. They are the good guys, trust them completely, and follow their expert advice. After 24 years of service, the words, “we find the accused on all charges and specifications, not guilty” is something I can never repay the Waddington’s for. They secured my children’s future, saved my life and now I am retiring with honor, thanks to them.
