A defense attorney that will even the odds

I'm an active duty Army 1LT and I was wrongfully charged with two counts of Sexual Assault on a fellow Officer. I knew the odds were seriously stacked against me and the situation seemed truly hopeless. At first, I was hesitant to retain the Waddingtons given the cost of their representation but I ul...timately decided on hiring Alexandra and her husband Michael for their legal services. This decision proved to be the best I have ever made. I was found not guilty of both charges and was fully acquitted. It is clear that both Alexandra and her husband truly care about their clients and will take the time to ensure you are prepared for your court-marshal. I believe their experience and professionalism made the difference in my case and I am confident I wouldn't be writing this review had I solely went with TDS alone. They truly gave me a second chance at life and I would recommend them to anyone facing felony charges in the military. Don't gamble with your future. You don't want to look back on this decision wondering if things would have been different had you hired this team.

The Money Collector / Fearmonger

I wanted to wait to write this review until my case was complete. Today it finally is, and it was an uphill battle because of her husband, Mr. Michaelr Waddington, who felt "pity for me" in his response to my review, but the real wolf clothed as sheep was Mrs. Waddington. Today, a Board of Inquiry fo...und no basis for misconduct. Today, I resigned on top of that, and I would be discharged with an Honorable Discharge. I did all this with the evidence they assured me would convict me and make me a sexual offender. The same evidence, plus the one I pointed them to look, got the opposite outcome. While she and her husband drafted a contract that would collect a fee was long as they went to trial, they did nothing to stop the process. The facts: The NJP was closed door, and later retracted. The co-counsel of her, was investigated by the IG and recuses from the case. The evidence was found, and no basis as well. They declined a refund, declined to represent me at any board and collected 30,000 for just a few e-mails. Fearmongering and high fees are what people are in store for. Today, I am a free man, with no record, Honorable Discharge, and clean, thanks to a different attorney who took the time to fight my case and only charged... 5K!!!!! I do feel pity, like her husband says, for hiring them! I also feel pity for whoever hires them too! Stay away from this "big brand, aggressive representation". They are just there for the money! I so regret falling into the trap of her smooth talking!

This review is absolutely false and is somewhat surprising to me, especially since I personally spent so many hours working with this Officer towards his defense. In 2022, he was kicked out of the Navy as a result of an administrative Separation Board with no criminal conviction on his record as a result of my efforts. In 2021, my Law Firm saved this Naval officer from being a convicted sex offender and a convicted felon. He knows the UCMJ well and was trained as a legal officer, and he willingly went to NJP/Mast to avoid a criminal conviction. He was accused of multiple crimes, including: sexual assault, physical assault of an enlisted sailor, and sexual harassment of various subordinates while aboard a US naval destroyer. There were multiple victims, of different ranks, including two female Naval officers, and he outranked all of them. In fact, there were even recordings of him harassing one of them by asking her to kiss him while in his room on the ship. Of course, he was also married and had children back home. After months of hands on dealing with the prosecution, and preparing for trial, the government agreed to drop the two Article 120 sexual assaults, the Article 128 assault, and the Article 92 violations of a lawful general order charges, effectively removing the case from a criminal setting, if he agreed to go to a Captain’s Mast for only having violated a lawful general order. This would avoid sex offender registration, federal felony convictions, jail time, and a Dismissal from the Navy. As a result, the officer has NO criminal record. He willingly accepted the deal and was most certainly informed of his rights and the pros and cons of facing a criminal trial vs an NJP when he chose to do so. Afterwards, he sent us a personalized “Thank you” gift and letter, thanking us for helping him and then he continued to text me to ask for legal advice because he knew he might be facing a Board down the line. I informed him that we could not represent him at the board because part of his negotiated NJP deal was that he would submit a board waiver. And I advised him to hire other legal counsel if he wanted to fight that. Almost a year later, after he got the benefit of the deal, he posted this negative review. I should have known, but despite all of the signs I suppose I still wanted to see the best in him. This false review is extremely disappointing. Shame on you Jorge.

Top Notch Lawyer with a Heart

I consulted with Alexandra about an ongoing CID investigation that I had been dealing with for over a year. In my situation, I had an affair with a woman that became my stalker after I stopped returning her calls and texts. Given the current victim SHARP climate in the Army, I should have hired a la...wyer much earlier instead of going with TDS. After my first conversation with Alexandra I decided to hire her firm. I am glad that I did. She gave me very realistic advice and listened to my side. Other lawyers I talked to we negative and judgmental. Alexandra gave me a sense of hope during a dark period of my life. Alexandra put together a plan of action for the court martial that was coming. We were able to do a cell phone extraction using Mr Roloff a digital expert that she recommended. Thankfully, we recovered a lot of helpful information, like photos and text messages from the woman falsely accusing me of sexual assault. Her advice and the info we got off of my cell phone were enough to get my false accuser to back down before charges were filed. I was able to continue with my life and career thanks to Alexandra. I recommend her for anyone that is falsely accused of a sex crime in the Army.

Read before hiring this lawyer!!

You are not alone. Many of us were where you are now. An accusation of sexual assault or rape is a major life-changing event for any military service member. Like me, you will be ignored, marginalized, and shuffled between nameless and swamped DoD-provided defense lawyers; you'll be told to "just ...wait" or "stand by" until things get to the worst possible point; your former friends and co-workers will look at you with doubt and talk about you behind your back - the next few years will be a defining point in your life, and to make it out intact I highly recommend you hire a dedicated professional like Alexandra Waddington. My case took nearly two years to clear, during which time I was shuffled between four TDS DoD-supplied defense attorneys. It was a nightmare repeatedly having to explain the intricacies of the case, especially as my ex-partner continued to harass me. This harassment was completely ignored by DoD, as I was the accused. The military defense didn't even answer their phones much of the time. The process of locating a civilian lawyer is also not intuitive, as many of the websites are misleading or confusing. Again, consider what your life is worth to you. Consider the lifelong repercussions of a dishonorable or other-than-honorable discharge, and realize that you will not be able to fight the vast resources of the U.S. Government alone. The Waddington team actually answers their phones. They text back in a timely manner. They will review all the evidence, even as it continues to change and grow over time, and they will construct the best possible case to save your life. I know it seems like a lot of money, but I feel to this day that it's some of the best money I have ever spent. Do yourself a favor; before talking to anyone, hire Alexandra.

Great Expectations – Exceeded

What’s your life’s work worth? I believe many of Alexandra and Michael’s clients are junior in time/grade in the military. That being the case, many of the posted reviews are from the perspective of younger Service Members or their parents. As a more ‘seasoned’ Service Member, I have spent over tw...o decades in uniform. That’s when I found my family and my life’s work under attack by false accusations. Highly competent legal representation by Gonzalez & Waddington, LLC was the only way we succeeded in saving both. Bottom line, “NOT GUILTY on all counts” was the truth and it is what the judge read from a panel of my peers at the conclusion of my trial. The alternative: unthinkable – incarcerated for over 30 years, sex offender registration for life, a dishonorable discharge, and a family destroyed…by lies and a system heavily weighted in favor of the alleged victim. Candidly, I did have Great Expectations of Alexandra and Michael. My expectations were exceeded! Is it expensive? – only if you mistakenly frame the cost as anything other than an investment…in you. Give yourself permission – YOU are worth it! The great people of Gonzalez & Waddington – Alexandra, Michael, and Sandra – were phenomenal through the entire process. Over a 14-month ordeal from first being notified by CID of an impending investigation until the end of a 3-day trial. All of this turmoil stemming from sexual assault allegations dating back years. The circumstances of the allegation and the actions of the alleged victim across the years until the trial are incredible and near beyond belief. I give you that insight to say that Alexandra, Michael, and our assigned Trial Defense Service (TDS) attorney had a very complex case to manage. Professional, smart, and caring accurately describe how they aided my family and me in preparing and fighting for our present lives and future dreams. We did our part to gather information/facts, submit our character witness list, and follow careful protocols of avoiding social media and not making statements or discussing our case with ANYONE outside of our legal team. Our level of input was matched or exceeded at every turn. Military law is complex; don’t fight it alone. You need the best legal representation to successfully work yourself out of the maze. You need Alexandra and Michael on your Team. Make the investment! I am forever indebted to them and happily recommend their services to anyone facing serious UCMJ charges. What’s your life’s work worth? Don’t squander another minute!
