Hi. I'd been dealing with federal loan issues since 2000. I'd written to State reps (FL), have spoken with an unknown number of FL DOE staff, enlisted a federal Ombudsman; and have experienced garnishment and default. I have a graduate degree and dedicated the first 20 years of my career to non-for-p...rofit work; all I expected from the State was a reasonable monthly payment. Fast forward...6 years ago I consulted an attorney who told me to go see him when I had $75K in cash; clearly that never happened. I was referred to Joshua and figured the consultation fee was worth the potential guidance; I wasn't wrong, because it was. He answered my very specific questions (and while some of the answers were not what I'd wanted to hear), he did assure me that my kids would not inherit my debt (one of my greatest concerns); that my S.S. benefits would not be garnished (hoping to retire in the next 5-6 years); and recommended a program which became fully available in 2015. It had become available in 2009, with some iterations and should have been recommend to me by the state's DOE. This program will allow me to pay a reasonable monthly amount (less than what I pay now); and afford me to continue to build my 401K and savings. Most importantly it's income based, so whenever my current income is affected by retirement or inability to work, the monthly payment will be determined by what I bring in. That said and pretty important to me, Joshua came across as knowledgeable, was engaged and mostly...he listened. He was empathic and provided me the choice of applying to the program on my own, or through him-- I never felt any pressure. Atty Cohen was well prepared prior to our talk. He had solutions ready but wanted to first make sure I understood all that had and was happening with my loans. He was able to present all the information and at the end provide solution that no one else could. The loan holder was not willing to help... in any way.
