I was feeling overwhelmed about my student loans. Having just filed bankruptcy, I didn't know how to handle the $168K+ in outstanding student loan debt. Jay offered wonderful guidance.
Jay is extremely knowledgeable, articulate and caring. However, I was most impressed with his unique approach to sharing legal advice which manifests a conscious and obvious effort not to waste your time or resources. Contrast that to the more typical approach which is oblivious to draining your wallet. Both ethically sound, but which would you prefer.
In one consultation Atty. Fleishman gave me explanations of all the options to defer my school loan payments until I get a job. The option I selected allows me to make no payments until I start work . It has been such a relief that I now sleep well for the first time since I graduated.
My wife co-signed on a student loan which her son defaulted on and she received a summons on the amount owed. We learned of Jay's services and made an appointment to talk with him. He called exactly when he said he would and answered all of our questions. He is tremendously knowledgeable and an excellent listener. He gave us excellent advice. I would highly recommend Jay.
I was suspicious of a lawyer who wanted $100 in advance just to talk with me, but the advice Jay Fleischman gave me was worth several times that in the amount it will probably save me. Jay was very clear about the alternatives available to resolve my long-ago student loan, and he answered my questions in detail. I am not out of the woods yet—I need to do research along lines Jay suggested—but the paths out of the woods are now clear to me.
Student debt (really any debt) is not a comfortable subject to discuss with anyone (regardless of whether or not that person you’re speaking to is trying to help you). In the case of Jay Fleischman, I immediately felt at easy. Our conversation was focus on options and facts. No it was not a brutal type of meeting. On the contrary, Jay brings a certain candor that makes you feel empowered. He helped me to open my eyes a little wider to see there is a light at the end of my tunnel. Meeting with Jay (and Beth) was of significant value … I wished I had done this year ago!
After contacting Mr. Fleischman’s email through this website (because I was being pursued for a false debt) I was sent a phone number for scheduling a fifty-dollar telephone consultation. I waited five days for the appointment and then planned my day around the mid-afternoon call. The call never came. I left a message with his office, and received no response. Not the qualities I would look for in a lawyer.
Jay handled my bankruptcy in 2004 and was fabulous. He explained everything to me in an understandable fashion and prepared me for what to expect. After my bankruptcy was finalized, he continued to be on top of my credit reports, making sure that all information was correct. He's totally on top of things.
Mr. Fleischman represented me in my bankruptcy case.
During free consultation he explained me all my rights. Everything turned out exactly as he estimated: the bankruptcy was granted to me, and I was even able to keep my car - the only valuable thing I have.
I am not American born, English is not my first language. However, I had no problem communicating with him.
My job keeps me on the move. So, there was a good chance for me to miss an important letter (from the court or from a creditor) coming in my home mailbox. Mr. Fleischman kept me informed by email - my preferred method of contact, the only sure way to reach me.
After the conclusion of the case, after bankruptcy was granted to me, one of my former creditors kept on trying to get their (already discharged) debt. Mr. Fleischman helped me reach a fair settlement with that creditor without extra out of pocket expenses.
If you have problem with your creditors and live in or around New York City, I definitely recommend Mr. Fleischman to you.
