Thomas W. Toolis was born and raised in Chicago and is a graduate of Brother Rice High School and the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he majored in accounting. After passing the C.P.A. exam, Thomas worked as an accountant at Rush University prior to earning a Juris Doctor from Kent College of Law in Chicago. Since starting his legal career, Thomas has focused his practice on bankruptcy, corporate law, and real estate law.

Thomas believes in providing excellent service for each client, no matter what the circumstances and time involved. As a father of two, he understands the stress many families face when confronted with difficult situations. Thomas strives to work closely with his clients to resolve those issues, so that the clients can feel confident and trusting in the process. He also recognizes that the law can be intimidating to those without his specialized training. He has also aided over 50 corporations with incorporation and transactional disputes. Thomas also believes strongly in planning for families for the long term. He is also skilled at drafting wills and trusts to help families provide for their loved ones. Thomas specializes in special needs trusts, life insurance trusts, and estate planning for business owners.

Thomas has also dedicated much of his time over the past thirteen years supporting the local business community. He has served as the President of the Orland Park Area Chamber of Commerce, which boasts over 650 members due in part to Thomas’s leadership.

Gets the job done!

Bankruptcy - Excellent Attorney

I had to file a chapter 7 bankruptcy and choose Tom Toolis to be my lawyer. He is very knowledgeable about all the laws and walks you through the entire process. I was very impressed with how smooth the process went with him on my side. I was also being sued by a collector before the bankruptcy was filed and he went to court for me and took care of everything. I highly recommend him for your bankruptcy needs.

Bankruptcy Chapter 7

Thanks to Tom and his team this is now behind me. I appreciate their diligent efforts to protect my rights. I have heard nightmare stories from acquaintances that have had other representation and was expecting my situation to be the same. Having gone through a business failure, where I had substantial financial exposure, combined with a divorce, I expected the worst. From the first meeting, I was assured that someone is there for me. Real Estate Closing

Tom came highly recommended by my father who has also used him for a real estate deals. I did not actually go to the closing but there was a hold up at closing because of the buyer trying to get yet another credit. Thankfully Tom was amazing and simply told the buyer another credit wasnt happening. This allowed for the closing to go through and not have to be delayed till the following week. Also would like to mention his paralegal Nancy was beyond sweet and helpful as well through this process. The team kept me updated and were prompt with responding to my emails.

Mr. Toolis is an excellent attorney. He explained, thoroughly, the pros and cons of my filing. He explained the timeline, and stuck to it. He or an associate were always available via phone or email. His fee was reasonable, especially for the quality of work.

My Bankruptcy Attorney

Mr. Toolis represented me in a bankruptcy and in a fair debt collection case. Not only did he get a creditor to pay for my bankruptcy, he also got $1,000.00 for me. Everything went exactly as he said it would. He is now my personal attorney, i will use him for anything legal in the future. He was hard to get ahold of by phone but I could always reach him by email.

Best Real Estate Attorney

Unethical lawyer

I consulted with Mr. Toolis about filing a bankruptcy during my divorce. Due to the status of my divorce, he indicated that I needed to file a Chapter 7 right away, and took a deposit from me. When I called back a few weeks later, he had not done any work on my case. During that time there were some new issues with my divorce, and once I informed Mr. Toolis of these issues he tried to intimidate me into filing a Chapter 13 instead. He insisted that I give him my credit card number over the phone. I got upset and told him that I needed to think about it. Once I consulted a different bankruptcy attorney, I found that I was able to file a Chapter 7 and did so successfully. I then called Mr. Toolis again and informed him of my situation, and requested a refund of my deposit which he denied. Even though he seems to be very knowledgeable about bankruptcy law, it's a disgrace that he tried to take advantage of me while I was going through such a difficult time and needed a professional to help me.

I have never in my 15 years of representing a bankruptcy client intimidated a client into filing for Chapter 13 when they should have filed for Chapter7. Additionally, I never take a credit card from a bankruptcy client as the credit card processor will reverse the charge if I accept a credit card and then within 90 days file a bankruptcy for that client. I do have a feeling that I know who this client is, although she fails to identify herself. She did end up filing a chapter 7 with another attorney, however, she intentionally concealed the assets I told her she had to disclose on her bk petition, which is why she was able to file a chapter 7. I can only assume she did not tell her next attorney the true value of the assets she disclosed to me. I always do an exceptional job for my clients. You can see the other reviews in this section. I am disappointed with this review and if this person would contact me, i am sure we could do something resolve the misunderstanding.
