Bankruptcy is a scary word, plus the stigma attached to it is a blow to one's self worth, but working with the lawyers and staff at the Pew Law Center allowed us to get grounded and see where our financial needs would be best addressed. They just didn't break into a sell for Bankruptcy, the lawyers and legal assistants took the time to go over our complete financial history then suggested which direction would be the most feasible. The day of the hearing in bankruptcy court (341 hearing) . Our lawyer was there on time met with us prior to seeing trustee and then walked us out reassuring us that we were fine. You can't beat the treatment you recieve from the members of the PLC, for a breif moment my lawyer felt like my very own family. We trusted him completely.

I retired in 2003 and had been trying to pay off my bills by myself. My pension was decreased (company went bankrupt) My health got worse, three surgeries in four years! Do not believe that once you retire that creditors cannot come after you. My reason for filing was one creditor decided to add the income (that I owed them) to my income. This put me in another tax bracket. Needless to say, I owe both state and local taxes due to this. I filed to keep other creditors from doing the same thing! Yes, I was nervous about the procedure, but I knew I was in good hands when I found Pew Law! They were comforting, knowledgeable, professional and made the entire process very much worthwhile. I even enjoyed the debtor education classes. I was so relieved! Thank you, Pew Law!

My experience was one worth writing about! Everyone that I came in contact with for assistance went above and beyond to address my questions and concerns from the first day until the last. I had so many questions and whether I placed a phone call, went in to the office or sent an email I always received a quick response. When you're told by Robin or Mr. Macleod (if they are a part of your team) not to worry they will take care of it...you can believe it!! I had been trying to pay off all my bills and debt on my own. Unfortunatly I couldn't afford much because there were so many. My insurance at my prior job was lacking, and I ended up owing my dentist, my stomach doc after a proceedure, my general physician and while there were quite a few other companies I owed, the straw that finally broke me was a company who baught a credit card debt and first time i heard from them is when they served me saying they were going to sue me. I just couldn't handle it anymore. One night I saw a brief promo on TV about a free book about bankruptcy, So I figured why not. I made an appointment and sat down with one of the people of Pew. They were very helpful with answering all the questions I had. I was very nervous and had no idea what I was doing, but they gave me very specific instructions, steps to follow, and was very quick to respond to answer or explain about anything I was curious about. When it was time for my hearing, The Pew People again made sure all my questions were answered and even helped calm my nervousness down as we were about to go into the hearing. Throughout this entire process, the Pew People stayed in communication with me via phone and email. There was not one time were I felt forgotten about. Now I get a chance for a fresh start. While I had an overall good experience for my bankruptcy thanks to The Pew Law Center, it is still not something I would like to go through again. So this fresh start will not be taken lightly.

After consulting with 2 other law firms Pew Law Center was able to stand out during our initial consultation because of their clear understanding of the process and their ability to answer questions thoroughly. After setting up a payment plan that met our needs we were able to get through the process flawlessly because of the staff's responsiveness and resources like a video where the courthouse is located, what to expect, etc. I first saw them on a TV appearance and called in to make an appointment. I'm glad I did and I highly recommend Pew Law Center to anyone considering Bankruptcy.

I was very apprehensive about filing bankruptcy until I went to Pew Law Center. My experience was wonderful from beginning to end. Everyone I met with was helpful and reassuring. Mr. Macleod was kind enough to respond to my question, at which point I contacted him to discuss the questions he posed to me. We set up a telephone conference for the following day and Mr. Macleod called when he said he would. He listened carefully and was patient while I explained my situation. He gave a thorough explanation as to what would happen next and what to expect as a resolution. He was very knowledgeable and, by the end of the call, I felt reassured and relieved. He seemed as though he genuinely wanted to help and that he actually did care.

It's been 2 years since we received our discharge papers on our bankruptcy. I called Pew Law and asked for some help, I was getting calls and ast due stmts from a collection agency that our mortgage company sold ouraccount to. Even tho Pew Law did not have to do anything for us due to the fact it' been over 2 years since our case closed, Scott still sent a letter to the creditor to stop contacting us.
