Our office focuses exclusively on maritime injury claims of injured offshore workers. Seamen perform work that is extremely specialized. Rigs, drillships, vessels, barges and others aren't like land businesses or workplaces. It's a different culture and language when someone works on the water. Maritime cases are unique and can dramatically affect the future of maritime workers. They deserve the utmost attention, care, and focus, which is why we limit our practice. It's that important to us.

    31 years

Our practice focuses on Jones Act and maritime cases primarily throughout the Gulf Coast region and the rest of the country. Call us today for any questions you have about maritime injury law or your potential case:. We work exclusively for injured maritime workers; we do NOT handle any other types of claims. Many offices try to handle some cases against companies and insurance companies, and others on behalf of insurance companies and companies. We prefer to limit our practice to just representing the injured offshore worker. You always know where we stand in regard to helping you, not the insurance or oil company.

Offshore work and vessel work is specialized work. That means that your maritime case is also very specialized. Because we understand this, our office fights exclusively for injured maritime workers. Unfortunately, many attorneys spread themselves too thin; they practice many types of law from criminal to divorce to bankruptcy, and then they also accept maritime cases. Our belief is that injured seamen should have a law firm that serves exclusively them.

Best of The Best
When I was first injured I had no thoughts of hiring an Attorney. As time went on I realized I would have to hire an attorney. I visited with a few attorneys before I met Tim Young. The minute my wife and I met him all of our fears were gone. Tim and his whole staff made us feel like family. He made us feel like that for the whole 5 years and still feel the same way a year later. If all law firms were like the Young firm it would bring honesty back to the industry.

Exceptional Intelligence, Honest, 1st Class
Tim Young does not take any short cuts. From the first email then meeting he over achieved my expectations. His Staff around him are of the best of the best. From all of my dealings with Tim Young & THE YOUNG FIRM I can assure you you won't be mislead and there is a great chance this guy will exceed the initial case evaluation given as more times passes. They will walk you through every step & understand how to handle clients who are in an injured state of pain & suffering. Making the process smooth and leaves you feeling confident when things go just as him & his staff describe.

Maritime injury 70 miles offshore, Gulf of Mexico
From the first inquiry online, to the very positive outcome of my case, the entire staff of the Young Firm treated me with respect and dignity every time we spoke. I must have sent 200 emails to the Young Firm over the coarse of my case and every one was responded to. My rambling messages and constant inquiries never fell on deaf ears. Everything Tim told me that was going to happen, did. Not once was I lost in the system of what I quickly discovered was going to be a lengthy process. The knowledge and reputation Tim Young and The Young Firm have was confirmed to me one day while I was in Physical Therapy. I live a fair distance away from New Orleans but found myself in a conversation with a guy who I soon discovered was an injured seaman like me. He told me about his accident and stated he wished he had hired Tim Young because he heard he was the best. I knew I made the right choice with The Young Firm when all the promises from my employer turn out to be empty. I honestly wanted to believe that the company I had given 110% to every hitch would take care of me after I was hurt, but they had other plans and Tim knew it all along. I can't thank Tim, Jason, Rebecca, Lea and the entire staff at The Young Firm enough for all that they have done for me and my family. If you are considering a Law Firm that puts you first your only choice should be The Young Firm.

jones act/ maritime law
I suffered an injury working offshore on a drilling rig which required surgery. I was sent home with no income and almost became homeless. I researched different attorneys online, but wasnt sure who to hire. Then I came across Tim of the Young Firm. He offered tons of free, helpful info which also included what to look for when hiring a maritime attorney. This was the only attorney I seen who did this, which to me showed he had the confidence and knowledge to handle my case. I was stressed and driving myself crazy wondering how I was going to survive while recovering from surgery. Tim cosigned a loan for me to cover my living expenses until my case was settled. Everything I worried about was taken care of by the young firm. My case settled in less than a year, which is very fast for a maritime case. From what I understand, these cases sometime drag out for a couple of years. Mr young has a team of knowledgeable staff, but had no problems answering my questions directly, quickly, and it really was like he read my mind. I have no regrets hiring the young firm, and highly recommend them. If you are in a similar situation, and are worried what youre going to do with your life, just give them a call. You have nothing to worry about.

Response from Timothy Young September 7, 2021
Hello-- I am sorry about the outcome but once a person files for bankruptcy, all assets including law suit claims become a part of that bankruptcy. We are legally bound to work with the bankruptcy court which we always do when clients have to file bankruptcy. It may feel unfair but that is one of the trade-offs with a bankruptcy. We will reach out to you again and explain this again to you. We successfully helped more than 400 oilfield workers who were exposed to asbestos drilling mud and I am sorry your experience with your claim was not good due to the bankruptcy complication.

"Maritime and personal injury attorney Tim Young is a strong advocate for Louisiana injury victims and has gone out of his way to provide quality information for both current and prospective clients. He has authored books on both maritime law as well as motor vehicle accidents and he seeks to help people understand what they are up against if they've suffered injuries as a result of someone else's negligence. Better yet, Mr. Young offers the books for free to Lousiana residents who request them. He's even put together a Maritime Injury Law Toolkit that contains a book as well as two dvds. If you've suffered a maritime-related injury or if you've been hurt in a car or truck accident in the New Orleans area, or anywhere in Louisiana for that matter, I highly recommend that you contact Tim Young to discuss your potential case."

"Tim Young is the best maritime lawyer I know. In fact, there is no other attorney my office refers maritime cases to, no matter where they are. Representing injured workers in maritime cases is in his blood. Tim’s dad founded their law firm and learned the trade and how to treat clients from his famous father. His father also passed down all his contacts and winning tactics. As an attorney in his own right, Tim is very effective for his clients and well respected by the legal community. He cares deeply for his clients and treats them like family. I highly recommend calling Tim if you have been injured and are in need of an experienced maritime accident lawyer."
