Charged a lot of money but did nothing to resolve my situation
I came to this lawyer with a complicated divorce case. She charged a lot of money upfront and promised to help me. After that she started being sketchy with her advice and changing her proposed course of action almost every time we spoke. After I tried to clarify what she was going to do she yelled a...
This may be a fake review. I can't think of any divorces I have had in the 1 - 3 year period prior to 2013, that fit the facts of what this person is saying, especially one where a client went over to a different attorney before the case was over. That would have involved filing a substitution of attorney with the court where the divorce case was pending and I don't believe I have had any cases where that happened around the time of this 2013 post. Also, you can't "postpone" a divorce once it is filed in the court. The court has a definite time line that they push attorneys to meet on active cases. If a case hadn't been filed I wouldn't have been charging a client for more than a single consultation - I don't normally get money up front for a case that is not going forward in the court. In fact, around 2013 and just prior to that, I was working on Personal Injury cases and related appeals so I would have handled very few divorce cases during this time. None of what this person has written makes any sense. This may be a false review from someone that was never truly a client of mine. Perhaps it was someone that came in to speak to me once about their case, paid for that consultation and we never moved forward with the case so they went to another attorney. I would be happy to address this persons concerns if they want to post more specific information so I can more accurately respond.
"While not having the opportunity to personally meet Ms. Reisman, I thoroughly enjoy reading her answers on AVVO. She is very thorough and very kind. I would recommend her in a heartbeat."
"I endorse Joanne Reisman. I have had the pleasure of reading her responses on Avvo. Her answers are complete and include all the details one expects from a competent attorney. She also sees the forest from the trees and thinks about a fact pattern before rendering an option."
"I enthusiastically endorse Attorney Reisman. She is an experienced, seasoned and thoroughly knowledgeable practitioner. Her many years at the lawyer's craft have allowed her to become a walking encyclopedia of Oregon substantive law, as her many fine Avvo contributions, among other things, demonstrate. She is a credit to her state, and its bar."
