This means that the attorney's misconduct in another state, or jurisdiction, also violated the rules for practicing law in Minnesota. Stayed suspension means an attorney did something wrong but may still practice law. The suspension is placed on hold (and ultimately removed) if the attorney complies with certain requirements. The State also monitors the lawyer's activities for a period of time in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior.

Christopher's comment: “This was the exact same situation as the Colorado incident and needed to be reported to the State of Minnesota, even though I am INACTIVE in MN. As such, it is NOT another ethical violation whatsoever. MN simply adopted the 2 years of probation ordered by Colorado and did NOT suspend my license. This is NOT an additional ethical violation. I have practiced for 22 years with no violations. I lectured a woman on road rage and the Ethics Committee in CO said I should have called the police instead.”

Suspension stayed means the attorney has been disciplined, but that the suspension is placed on hold (and ultimately removed) if the attorney complies with probation requirements.

Christopher's comment: “This incident was based on activity that had nothing to do with the practice of law. A woman was endangering people in our local community by engaging in dangerous driving and "road rage" behavior. At a traffic light, I lectured her on the dangers of road rage. She then said that "road rage" simply does not exist. I brought up "road rage" cases that I was personally involved in as a pubic defender, judge, prosecutor, and private attorney. The attorney regulation counsel said such was improper.”
