Bankruptcy is a stressful time for anybody but John walked me through the whole thing so I knew what to expect and what pitfalls to avoid. And believe me you want a guy with decades of experience to help you avoid those pitfalls! My house was involved and he went over the consequences of loan modific...ation vs short sale vs foreclosure so I could choose the best option for my situation. The initial free consultation took over an hour (!!) and John answered all my questions and some points I hadn't even thought of. He is far more personable and caring than a lot of attorneys who rush you along and have attitudes that exacerbate the painful situation. He would respond to follow-up questions within a day or so and I always got what I needed to know. Everything went smoothly after filing and I emerged debt free and in better shape than I've been for years!

I chose Mr Vos as he was local and we were satisfied after 1st meeting he would handle our case in a professional way. Was asked to drop off tax returns, profit & loss, and income ytd along with a $500 retainer. When I arrived at office Mr Vos's secretary said he would move quicker on case if I left ...a larger retainer & I left check for $1,200 with understanding I would receive documents to start bankrupcy proceedings in 5-7 days. When 10 days elapsed I called his office on a Monday & was told package had been sent previous Thursday. When package did not arrive by Wednesday I stopped by his office & secretary couldn't understand why I hadn't received docs. She then excused herself & said she would be back in a few minutes. I heard her talking to Mr Vos & also heard printing machine running from his office. She returned with stack of documents & asked me to sit in conference room to go over with me. There was a cover sheet with 15 items that needed to be brought back. I noticed that 4 out of 15 had already been given to them, and realized at that moment that Mr Vos had done nothing on our case & this was a generic form given to all clients. Then I noticed the header of document had the wrong clients name on it. At that point I said I was completely unsatisfied with how he was handling this case & asked for a complete refund as nothing had been done. Mr Vos then came out of his office & told another secretary in the back room to scan my tax returns before giving them back to me. I yelled out to please return all my documents & do not make copies. They continued to scan them & then was handed them back. Ten days later I received package of documents & a $700 check which was $500 short from $1,200 deposit. It was quite clear that he used my scanned returns after I had told him I wouldn't be using his services to bill me for work after the fact. I have called & emailed my displeasure & have asked for complete refund, but have had no response from his office. I am in the process of filing small claims court paperwork. I was also never provided with a legal services agreement.

The review with header "Beware" is bogus. I was sitting in conference with Mr. Vos when that man showed up and started making a loud commotion. I overhead everything, as he wanted to BARGE IN on our meeting. Mr. Vos graciously asked me if he could be excused and Mr. Vos then went out to speak with th...e man. The man said that he was leaving his wife and needed funds. Mr. Vos and he discussed that he first contacted the office in January of 2011, had a follow-up interview with Mr. Vos in May, yet waited until the END OF OCTOBER to retain Mr. Vos and pay him anything. When the man complained that his wife took his mail and he did not receive what had been sent to him, Mr. Vos came back into his private office and then Mr. Vos printed-out from the computer in his office the complete set of draft documents which had been prepared for the man A MERE THREE DAYS after he retained Mr. Vos. Mr. Vos then handed the 'replacement' set to this man. It's ludicrious to complain about delay and service when the man himself is rude, unreasonable, and just plain wrong. Under difficult circumstances of this man's own making, I heard Mr. Vos calmly and thoroughly explain that he gave to the man everything needed to file the case, that he would prepare an accounting of his time, and refund to the man promptly what portion of the retainer was NOT used up. I also heard them discuss that the man had not fully paid the retainer and that his first check bounced. Bonus - the man threatened to extort money from Mr. Vos if Mr. Vos did not stop my interview with him then and there an pay him 100% back. Sounds to me like Mr. Vos did prepare an accounting and did refund to the man MORE THAN 50% of what was paid. As to Mr. Vos - my observation of him handling this joker was that he was prompt, gracious and more than fair. As to this Man - can you say scammer? Turns out he claims to be a paralegal but actually sells used cars.

I would definitely recommend John Vos to anyone in need of his expertise. John Vos helped me through my bankruptcy in a very efficient and responsive manner. He also helped me clearly undestand the benefits and consequenses of filing for chapter 7 and made sure to tell me that chapter 7 is not the en...d of the world, but actually the beginning of a new and more fulfilling life.

I cannot even express the depth of gratitude I owe John and his office team! I had seen a few lawyers before meeting with John, but I immediately felt at ease with John, like he was already an old friend, and that is why I felt good about hiring him to help me. His frank honesty gave me the courage t...o pursue a Ch. 7 bankruptcy, and it was the best decision I ever made! His assistant Brooke was also very patient with me and all my questions and fears about the whole process -- because I had a lot of anxiety and stress about the whole process. John and the staff worked very hard and quickly on my case. I was actually amazed how quickly it went. They were FANTASTIC and allowed me to put this chapter of my life behind me. Words cannot express my gratitude in choosing John. He is by far the best attorney for bankruptcy in the area, with the experience and results to prove it. He catches things others might miss and makes sure you are taken well care of. He gives honest answers and lets you decide what you want to do with his advice. You control how quickly your case is filed, but he works lightning fast for you once you decide to file. I HIGHLY recommend John and his office if you are thinking about bankruptcy. I only wish I'd found him sooner.
