John Addison Vos

The review with header "Beware" is bogus. I was sitting in conference with Mr. Vos when that man showed up and started making a loud commotion. I overhead everything, as he wanted to BARGE IN on our meeting. Mr. Vos graciously asked me if he could be excused and Mr. Vos then went out to speak with th...e man. The man said that he was leaving his wife and needed funds. Mr. Vos and he discussed that he first contacted the office in January of 2011, had a follow-up interview with Mr. Vos in May, yet waited until the END OF OCTOBER to retain Mr. Vos and pay him anything. When the man complained that his wife took his mail and he did not receive what had been sent to him, Mr. Vos came back into his private office and then Mr. Vos printed-out from the computer in his office the complete set of draft documents which had been prepared for the man A MERE THREE DAYS after he retained Mr. Vos. Mr. Vos then handed the 'replacement' set to this man. It's ludicrious to complain about delay and service when the man himself is rude, unreasonable, and just plain wrong. Under difficult circumstances of this man's own making, I heard Mr. Vos calmly and thoroughly explain that he gave to the man everything needed to file the case, that he would prepare an accounting of his time, and refund to the man promptly what portion of the retainer was NOT used up. I also heard them discuss that the man had not fully paid the retainer and that his first check bounced. Bonus - the man threatened to extort money from Mr. Vos if Mr. Vos did not stop my interview with him then and there an pay him 100% back. Sounds to me like Mr. Vos did prepare an accounting and did refund to the man MORE THAN 50% of what was paid. As to Mr. Vos - my observation of him handling this joker was that he was prompt, gracious and more than fair. As to this Man - can you say scammer? Turns out he claims to be a paralegal but actually sells used cars.

we had an excellent outcome on our chapter 7 bankruptcy. everything john told us would happen happened. he was very real with us. he is very knowlegeable, yet you have to understand him, as he expects you to get it fast, so just understand that about john. i did tons of my own work, as he is very ver...y busy.....i wanted to get our bankruptcy info just right, and not depend on them or the computer, so i checked everything, and had him fix things from the computer and all. everything went great. needed him after the chapter 7 re: our foreclosure, and he was always right there..no extra charge..a great guy...you've gotta help yourself too with john though...be proactive, call back, email back...dont wait for them!! also, john is very direct, and so am i, so be prepared for very real personal communications, but this attorney is tops for bankruptcy and foreclosure.

I used Mr. Vos for a BK recently. He was recommended to me by a close friend who went through the same thing. Although I think Mr. Vos himself is a consummate professional, his office staff is extremely lacking in organization, professionalism and response time. I'm surprised that in the end it worke...d out. I went into the office a few times because my phone calls and e mails were not being returned in a fashion that I desired. When I arrived at the location I was appalled at the appearance of his front secretary's desk. It looked like a paper bomb went off on it. There were stacks and stacks of paper all over her desk, on the floor and stacked on the front counter. She had to thumb through them in order to get to my information. What further set me off is that she then she took two personal calls on her cell phone while she was answering questions. I did get a little huffy with her because of some things that I was upset about the way it was being handled and she became very adversarial with me to the point where I was going to request that they destroy my file and refund my money. She had the gall to say "Don't start with me! I've had a bad day..." I couldn't care less. A professional leaves that kind of thing at the door and preforms their job. She also has a knack for handing out legal advice to which I say don't follow. She's not an attorney and shouldn't be giving any advice on anything. As far as response times go, I had called in and talked to said secretary recently who took my name and information and promised to call me back. 3 weeks later no call. E mails are responded to in about 2-10 business days depending on how many follow up phone calls you make. I hesitate to recommend anyone I know to Mr. Vos expressly because of the less than professional office staff. Which is truly sad because I know he is fantastic and extremely knowledgeable. I would love to hand out 4 or even 5 stars, but for the amount of dollars it costs to have this service performed (which is the same amount almost anywhere) the office should appear more professional and organized.
