Making the decision to file for bankruptcy was hard but Jeff Curl of JC Law Group was so helpful, patient, and always there to answer my questions. It made the process less scary. Anyone having to go through this should have him as their attorney.

First of all, I would LOVE to say that Jeff Curl of JC Law Group is the best bankruptcy attorney and BEST attorney I’ve ever met and did business with over all! He is VERY professional, understanding, helpful, and very responsive to issues. My husband and I did a search on yelp.com for a bankruptcy attorney for my mother and found his link to his site the most attractive and his website was just well done, organized, and prepared! Very “professional” looking and clean and the website did NOT look generic at all. I like the fact you get a password to log directly onto the website to assist with all the steps that the entire process entails! Super ORGANIZED and my mother and I were able to follow EVERYTHING on the website “clear and concise.” When I initially met Jeff, he was very professional, super friendly, understanding, and explained everything to us in full content, extent, and detail. Every time my mom and I had a question, he got back to us within a 24 hour period, sometimes even less! Bankruptcy is never a fun process. The first attorney with whom we met made it substantially worse, letting my wife and I know that we would never qualify for chapter 7 -- even though he couldn't even be bothered to look at the documentation we brought with us to our initial consultation -- and that he would not take us on as clients if we didn't accept that simple fact. We then met with Jeff, who listened to every detail of our situation. He also patiently listened to and addressed our concerns, one by one, and at no point was he ever dismissive or impatient with us. We knew from the moment we met with him that he would handle our case like a true professional. Because our income was well above the median, and because my wife and I own and operate two separate businesses, ours could not have been a simple open-and-shut chapter 7 case. But Jeff's attention to detail and his level of preparation certainly made everything run smoothly. At no point did my wife and I feel unprepared for any situation we encountered during the process. I simply could not have been happier with the way Jeff represented us, and our debt was discharged without debate 60 days after our 341 hearing.

Let me start by saying something I believe we can all agree...life doesn't come with a user manual with easy to follow instructions, especially with money. We grow-up, are never really taught anything about how money is meant to be saved as well as spent and because most of us forget about the passbook savings account we typically are all taught to start out with (beyond the piggy-bank that is), it’s clear that we don't even know how to use money. When we have to take a crash course, is typically when we find ourselves drowning in debt; and not always due to our own inability to save but our lack of knowledge of things like "interest rates" or "taxes" or "repayment terms of a student loan". What I can say is that I’m not responsible for what I haven’t been taught, that the banks charge you lots of money to use credit cards and just not tell you up-front how much it really costs you to use that plastic card and that if you lose your job, no one really cares how you’re going to make ends meet; you’ll just have to be smart enough to know and live in a manner that is below your means of supporting yourself (Suze Orman’s advice of “live on ½ your income and save ½ your income is the mantra, but difficult for anyone who is single, especially). But, when it came time for me to learn was when I found myself in 3x’s my annual salary in DEBT and interest compounding on this debt by the day, and banks not willing to work with me on payment plans, even when I considered debt management. After reviewing all of my options, I decided to file bankruptcy. And although I could have gone it alone, I decided to look at an attorney who, depending on cost and intellect, might make the painful decision, less so. And believe me I shopped for counsel and I didn’t hire the first 2 people I met with who appeared on paper to be capable and smart. When I decided to file bankruptcy was when I hired Jeff Curl and his firm, JC Law Group. This was the single-most best decision I’ve made as an adult and makes up for every dumb decision I made up until then. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING that I never learned growing up about money management, fiscal responsibility and living on a budget became clear, without the feeling of being scolded or unintelligent. Jeff Curl’s ability as a bankruptcy attorney made my experience almost painless (the only pain being what I should have learned but didn’t about money and how to use it). From the initial consultation to the document gathering to the court appearances, Jeff Curl represented me with professionalism and comfort. I couldn’t believe how easy this was and kept asking myself over and over “is that all there is?” After witnessing a man who was in court without counsel (most likely representing himself without an attorney during his bankruptcy proceeding) and the difference in how the Trustee spoke to him versus me was clear that I’m glad I had Jeff on my side during this process, because it was clearly the presence of great counsel that made my experience what it was in reality. All of the misconceptions of filing bankruptcy became clear to me, but what was the most clear is that unless you have an attorney like Jeff Curl working with you on this very carefully, you won’t feel the benefits of filing and get on with your life in a way that you were meant to live…debt-free and able to restart your life taking deep breaths, knowing that filing bankruptcy if right for you, can be the best decision you can make as an adult. Jeff and his firm worked with me, cost me barely what I was paying in interest and fees to the creditors each month, allowed me to keep my house that I’d recently purchased, as well as a vacation timeshare that I thought I’d for sure have to give up (that thinking was based on what I thought I KNEW about the bankruptcy filing process).
