Withholding Refunds for Bad Reviews

I got a quote from Susan in October, and I thought she stated the price was $2,200 over the phone. I waited a few months to save up some money, and got money from my father to help me out. I reached out to Susan again once I could pay for it, and she said prices was $2,500 but is now $2,400 - mayb...e I just misremembered so not a big deal. I wire her the money, and we schedule a call. I go over all my finances - income, expenses, assets, etc. Then I mention how I got a monetary gift from my father, and she stated this would be counted as income (I’ve heard mixed things on the validity of this). This means I would have to wait 6 months to file for bankruptcy, and to sign a retainer. She sends over the retainer that said her services cost $2,200 after I paid $2,400. Six months go by, and I send her all the documents, but she says I’m sending them to her in a ZIP file when I’m not (she is probably just clicking download all which automatically puts it into a zip). This back and forth between files takes weeks as sometimes she takes TWO WEEKS to respond to an email after I bump up the email three separate times in her inbox. She says it’s fine, and she’ll do it and she’ll get a proof to me by the end of the day. End of the day comes - nothing. I keep asking about it, but I get silence in return. Two weeks later I call her as it’s almost the last of the month, and I get no answer. She finally returns my call and says she’ll work on it. She calls me back shortly and says she’ll actually already worked on it, and my expenses aren’t enough to pass the means test… This is after she knew what my expenses were for 6 months!!! After this I send her an email asking if my psychiatrist appointments would count as an expense and why she didn’t bring up my low expenses 6 months ago. She replied with the following: “You told me to wait on your file until you got a job this semester, teaching. Everything would have been evaluated then. Maybe you just need another lawyer — but you will NOT get a full refund. I have waited months & worked the entire file.” None of this is a true, I’m not a teacher and didn’t have plans to teach. She told me I had to wait to file because my gift would be counted as income. After saying she’d give me an invoice and a refund she didn’t give me an invoice or a refund until a month later when I had to reach out again. She then said she will only refund $600. So she got a payday of $2,138 from me (because $338 would’ve went to the court anyway for the filing fee) because she “worked my file”. Idk what she worked because I told her my expenses when I first talked to her. She is severely unorganized, unresponsive, rude, and condescending. She will make some snide reply acting like she’s in the right as she does with every other one star review. This is a big part of your life, so I’d recommend going to an attorney that is competent She is threatening to withold my refund that she already agreed to if I do not take down my reviews :)

Best Bk Lawyer in Texas

There are times when even the most prepared of us need a little help in reorganizing our lives, and Susan Taylor is the place to go in Austin for bankruptcy. Susan is kind, helpful and expeditious, and will go the extra Texas mile for her clients. My experience was exceptional after needing her ser...vices from a lot of unwise financial decisions, and she and her staff are on top of the latest rules and protocols. Navigating the ins and outs of bankruptcy can be a daunting task, and it is nice to know there there are law firms like Susan's to help her clients through a difficult process.

Best bankruptcy attorney ever!

Susan Taylor was an amazing Austin and San Antonio area bankruptcy lawyer. She and Melissa Luna helped me with my chapter 7 when I truly felt hopeless and terrified that I had no options and would lose everything. They patiently answered my MANY phone calls and emails which is saying something becaus...e I can be a pest and someone who needs to know every detail of everything. The debt relief she helped provide along with preventing foreclosure was more than I could ask for. Covid crushed my small business just when we were expanding and having had to personally guarantee much of the debt I incured with that was almost too much to bear when the business finally ended. I was drowning in debt that most people couldnt imagine and felt like there was no hope. After talking to many other attorneys, I was sure they would take my house and everything I owned and still leave me with 7 figure debt to pay. But Susan calmed me down and worked with me while explaining the process and how she could help me. Which was a ray of sunshine I must admit. Because I had zero hope. And after it was all done, I was EXTREMELY satisfied with the results. I cant recommend her and her team enough. If you are considering bankruptcy, please, please PLEASE do yourself a favor and just call her!

Work with people who know what they are doing!

Susan is a seasoned professional with extensive knowledge of Bankruptcy law. I have spoken to other attorneys who overcomplicated, make assumptions, and just downright gave me the incorrect information. She took the time to answer my questions simply and plainly.
