Hiring Mr. Brian Sommers was the best decision I ever made.

I met Mr. Brian Sommers by accident, but it turned to be incredibly lucky. My case regarding post-divorce kids' visitation modification started in Oct. 2010. Because of my ex-husband's two continuances, it lasted more than 1.5 years. My previous attorney was very passionate about my kids' situation a...t first, but she totally changed her tone 2-3 weeks before the court trial. She used to compare my ex-husband to Hitler and assured me we would have no problem - shortening the summer visitation in accordance with Greene County standard. Although we had the support of my children’s psychologist and strong evidence against my ex-husband, my previous attorney wanted to agree to my ex-husband’s demands. She claimed that how my ex-husband treated my children was not that bad as long as he did not starve them and physically abuse them. Two weeks before my trial, I started looking for another attorney as I was very disappointed with my old one. I met an attorney whose office was in the same building as Mr. Sommers’. Because he had no time available on my court date, he recommended I ask Mr. Sommers to represent me. He told me Mr. Sommers represented one of his relatives before. It turned out to be one of the best things that happened to me. Mr. Brian Sommers happened to be available on my court date. He was very passionate about my case, and I could tell he cared about my children. He talked about strategy and the probability of winning the case. I can tell that he was very familiar with family law and the court system. I decided to hire Mr. Sommers that afternoon although I was not sure whether it was a wise choice to change attorney at the last minute. However, I felt I would have a chance to win my case, and my children would have their chance to live more peaceful lives with less negative influence. With my old attorney, there was zero chance. I wanted to try working with Mr. Sommers and I am glad I trusted my instinct. He and his staff started working on my case right away. During the next 10 days, we met at least four times to review my case in detail, so he would be familiar with every detail. We reviewed my lists of bullet points and discussed my ex’s possible counter-arguments in order to get Mr. Sommers as well prepared as possible. Mr. Sommers did a fantastic job in court. He asked my ex-husband, witnesses, GAL and my children’s phychologist the right questions to make sure the judge would see the true color of my ex-husband. Mr. Sommers also made sure that the judge and GAL knew my ex-husband lied a lot. Mr. Sommers was much better prepared than my ex-husband’s attorney. At the end of the day, I had only good things to say about Mr. Sommers. When I talked to Mr. Sommers outside the court, even my ex-husband came to tell him that he did a good job.  We have not received the judge’s written decision yet since the holidays prolonged the process. We tried our hardest in court and, no matter the outcome, I have no regrets. Whatever the Judge decides is out of our hands, but Mr. Sommers presented my case in the best way possible. I do want to thanks Mr. Brian Sommers for representing me so well in such a short time (12 days). I would recommend him to anyone that needs an attorney.

Excellent Lawyer

Brian met with me the very first time for an hour and a half and did not charge me. I had hired another attorney and did not feel that I was getting the best service. After meeting with Brian, I asked him if he would take my case and he said "in a heartbeat." A heartbeat later, I hired him and a w...eek and a half later got a continuance from the judge. Brian walked me through every step of my case. If I ever had questions, he was extremely responsive. Either he or his paralegal or his legal assistant got back to me right away. I never felt alone though I was going through one of the most difficult times in my life - getting a divorce from my husband of 24 years. I knew that Brian was fighting for me every step of the way. I did not feel that at all with my other attorney. The day before the hearing of my divorce, Brian called to ensure me that he had a good handle on my case. He and my ex-husband's lawyer negotiated for two and a half hours before Brian and I were comfortable with the agreement. Brian would not back down. Brian had a comprehensive summary of all of my information that he called my life. He also showed me comprehensive information that he had gathered about my ex-husband. The whole process was nerve racking that day but Brian kept telling me to relax. I truly felt that he had the case in the palm of his hands and would not miss any detail. Throughout the case, Brian kept me well-informed by e-mail, phone, mail and personal meetings. His staff was professional and courteous. I do believe that if I had remained with my first attorney that my amount of spousal would have been significantly less. Brian also negotiated other perks such as my ex-husband paying for the back taxes and continuing to pay for my car and getting part of his retirement. Although getting divorced was truly unpleasant, I felt that I received a good deal as far as what my ex-husband will have to pay me for a number of years. Brian is a phenomenal lawyer and I would recommend him to anyone in my same circumstances.

Sommers is the ONLY choice...

My experience with Attorney Brian Sommers has and continues to be just that, an experience. Brian first began representing me during a divorce/custody case two years ago. I would call him almost psychic as what he first predicted is exactly what happened. Brian’s hard work and due diligence gai...ned me approximately 50% more parenting time than I would have had per the Standard Order. Please note that I in no way feel it is realistic to expect someone to know everything or to be perfect. I do however expect should a mistake be made, that all parties be upfront about it and then move forward. I also consider “knowledgeable” to mean knowing where to go to get information and then being able to understand how to apply said knowledge. Based on my beliefs and from what I have experienced, I have rated all aspects above as EXCELLENT. When working with Brian you will always know where you stand, the reality of your particular situation and then receive an accurate assessment of what to expect. If you are looking for someone to just tell you what you want to hear, to do whatever you ask (right or wrong) and simply take your money, then you should keep looking. If you are looking for someone that represents what is right, that is honest (he doesn’t “sugar coat it”), that is hardworking and really good at their job, contact him. We even have had some good laughs along the way. Brian continues to represent me today regarding parenting time issues. Even after I relocated, I have asked Brian to stay involved with my case. It is really simple; you are getting what you are paying for and more. To put it another way, I implicitly trust him and in his abilities. Best Wishes…

"Attorney Sommers exemplifies the very best attributes of an active attorney and a level of professionalism we should all aspire to. Honesty, dedication and a love of the law which means. giving back to others who lack our understanding of the law. The thousands years of combined legal experience of professionals activity participating in forum represent some of the very best of our profession, which is after all, at its base is desire to those in need. This Attorney’s experience allows to obtain excellent results for his clients. Most importantly, this Attorney is willing to help complete strangers (as is the case in this forum) with legal problem for which we may have some helpful information and thereby demystify the legal process as much as possible. I would recommend this Attorney without any hesitation for all practice areas listed."
