Personal injury involves everything from car crashes to defective drugs and medical devices to train crossing cases. In my career I have handled all of these and more. My philosophy is the same in all areas -- I help people understand their rights and then encourage them to take action. Knowing is not enough -- we have to take action to have success. Helping Hands

After I modified my mortgage and made my first two payments, my mortgage company up and decided I was in default, stopped accepting my payments, and moved to foreclose on my home. As a single mom with two small children, panic-stricken does not begin to explain what I was feeling. I had already fough...t for a year to get the modification, and felt I had upheld my end of the bargain by making my payments on time as promised in the agreement I signed. Why am I in default? Can they do this? Every phone call to the mortgage company provided a different nonsense response/reason for what was happening, and something just did not feel right. So I reached out for names, the first two of which left me hanging and did not return my calls. I was already feeling ashamed and embarrassed, I needed help, and after two attorneys completely shunned me, I began to lose hope. I started to think maybe the mortgage company was right and I had messed up somewhere. I almost gave up. Then an attorney friend, who had gone up against John in court a time or two, highly recommended him to me. I have not had the opportunity to meet John as of the time of this review, but his paralegal, Randi, is amazing to say the least. Had I not contacted his office, then watched his RESPA video which gave me the tools I needed to fight back, I would have lost my home. The mortgage company's attorney set a foreclosure sale date. But due to the tools provided in that video, and the help and guidance willingly given by Randi, the foreclosure sale was canceled. My issues are certainly not over, and I have a strong suspicion the time will come when I will need to file suit to get the answers I need. But when that time comes, I am confident in the abilities of John and his staff, and excited to know they are on my team. They are truly dedicated to helping and it shows.

We know how scary it is to face a foreclosure, especially if the responsibility falls entirely on you as a single mother. You did a great job and deserve all the credit for stopping the foreclosure. You took action once you knew your rights! I'm thankful the information we have put out and your conversations with Randi helped in some small way but again you did this and that is wonderful. Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a detailed review/testimonial -- we appreciate it very much! Best wishes and let us know if you have any further issues with your mortgage company. John Watts and Staff, Outstanding Service Representatives

John and his staff are very professional, efficient, knowledgeable, and caring people. Not knowing anything about Alabama laws my family and I went online looking for foreclosure attorney's and John Watts stood out from the other firms. We told them our situation and were advised on how to move forwa...rd. Being Minnesotans we did not realize how different the laws are in Alabama. For the past few weeks we have been advised on what to do and how to present ourselves with this legal matter. My family and I would like to thank you John Watts and staff for your expertise on foreclosure legalities. We would also like to thank you for your care and concerns while we went through this battle, and for sticking with us and seeing this thing through. We appreciate all the advice that was given, the explanations of legal documents, making sure we understood the documents and Alabama laws, who to contact and what to say and ask for at point of contact. We thank you for the acceleration of your knowledge base as we only had a short window of time. I feel your staff went above and beyond the call of duty in assisting my family. I believe if we had not contacted John Watts it would have been very detrimental to our family. Mr. Watts you and your staff are outstanding! I have family in Alabama and if at anytime anyone of them have legal matters in your expertise's, I am definitely referring them to your firm. We thank you that this matter was resolved in a timely manner and for staff availability. From the first call to the last call staff was available in a timely manner, messages were returned usually the same day, and there was never a time the attorney did not reach out to us to make sure everything was going smoothly. We are truly grateful for the team at John Watts, you are the Best. God Bless, and Thank you

Brenda, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a detailed review! It is hard to understand the foreclosure laws in Alabama but if you are living in another state, it just makes it even more challenging. We appreciate you giving us the opportunity to help you. Sometimes clients hire us to file lawsuits or to respond to lawsuits with the mortgage company. Other times we can help folks out by giving them advice "behind the scenes". You guys were great in letting us know exactly what you needed from us and in listening to our suggestions. If you ever need anything, let us know! Thanks again and we love helping great people like you.... John and Randi

Helped me as I faced a debt collection lawsuit

I was struggling tryng to defend a lawsuit on my own. I had very few options as I was in debt and being sued with the very real possibility of losing the case. With the potential loss of the lawsuit I was facing garnishment of my wages which would have been catastrophic for my family. Because I was b...eing sued I started getting advertisement letters from attorneys. Mr. Watts advertisment letter was the second one that I received. The first letter was from a bankruptcy attorney. I made an appointment with the first attorney who only had it in his mind to steer me toward bankruptcy. That first attorney offered no options and said if I was not filing bankruptcy he could not help me. When I received Mr. Watt's letter I started reading it and actually began to see other options. His letter was very informative and helped me to understand the ramifications of the lawsuit that had been filed against me. His letter offered a free phone consultation so I called. Best call I ever could have made. With no strings attached Mr. Watts took the time to understand my situation and actually offered options other than bankruptcy. Mr. Watts is actually a problem solver and does not cherry pick his cases. He will listen to you and take action on your behalf. He worked diligently to bring my case to a very equitable resolution. I would not hesitate to call Mr. Watts for any legal matter.

Highly recommended for debt collection cases

I had consistent harassing phone calls from bottom dweller debt collectors for a very long time but just learned to deal with it until one threatened to sue me. I came across John's website (alabamaconsumer.com) which was full of articles on the subject matter that convinced me the law was actually o...n my side. I hired John to take my case and the process was flawless, kept me constantly updated on what was happening with the case and what I needed to do. He won my case and would highly recommend him to anyone with his area of expertise in debt collection law.

Travis, Thank you for asking us to help you -- we enjoyed doing so. And thank you for your feedback. While some lawyers don't like our approach, we take the position that giving away lots of information helps inform consumers. And our best clients are folks who have educated themselves and want to have a good discussion of their options. Thank you again for letting us help you and we wish you only the best.... John Watts

ace attorney AND human being

John Watts is truly one of the good guys. He represented me in a lawsuit filed by a debt collector that has a notorious reputation for breaking the law while going after folks. He got them to dismiss the case (with prejudice), and everything he initially promised was identified within the settlemen...t agreement. Right off the bat, I felt confident that hiring Mr. Watts was absolutely the right thing to do. When fear and doubt popped up along the way, his staff always responded in a compassionate and positive manner. My relief and joy at the victorious resolution of what had been a thorn in my side for years cannot be overstated. As I told Mr. Watts in his office, he does work that makes people happy.

Susan, Thank you for leaving us this review. We have a simple approach to settling debt buyer lawsuits -- we don't pay any money, they get it off of our credit report, dismiss the case with prejudice (so case and debt are over with) and we agree not to sue them. Thank you for having the confidence to hire us and it makes me very happy to hear great things about the good folks that work for me. Thanks again and know that we enjoyed representing you.... "Though I don't know John personally, when I first stepped into private practice, I had hundreds of questions. I shot him an email, and this man took a good chunk of time out of one of his otherwise busy days to sit and chat with me, in detail about best practices in this field. I can count on one hand the folks who looked out for me when I started practicing, and of those, the majority were folks that I knew prior to practicing law. John helped me when he didn't even know me. He's a great benefit to our profession."

I've always found him to possess the perfect blend of legal talent, experience and creativity. His clients love him and trust his judgment. In fact, they're not just clients — they are raving fans. But that's to be expected when you have a lawyer like John on your side. John speaks to his clients in plain English. No legal jargon here. I've also been impressed with the respect he displays toward his clients, by keeping them regularly informed of the progress of their case, by returning their phone calls promptly, and by always dealing with them as true equals.
