Stressed for 2 Years!

When I got served notice that I was being sued by a debt buyer 2 years ago, it felt like the end of the world. Immediately I started doing my research to figure out how to handle this. It was Circuit Court so I quickly learned this was a much more serious and involved process. I contacted John ear...ly on and he was very professional and explained the process to me. He told me what my options were. However, I still thought I could handle this as a Pro Se defendant. I did everything that was required through the process. The trial date was finally set almost 2 years after the complaint was filed. Still thinking I could handle this, the closer to the trial date, the more nervous and stressed out I was getting. Finally, I couldn't take it anymore and a few days before my trial date, I contacted John again. He was my last hope. I really didn't expect him to entertain my questions again, 2 years later, but he did. The trial date was now only a couple days away and I thought there was no way he would agree to represent me on such short notice. I was wrong, again. He did! He got to work right away on my case. Very professional and at the same time, compassionate and understanding on what I was going through. My case was ultimately settled before we even went to trail (just hours before trial). I have never in my life felt such relief as I did when he told me it had been settled. I said all of that to say this; if you are planning to defend your case Pro Se, please take into consideration and be prepared to deal with all the stress that something like this will cause. John and Carolyn were there for me when I couldn't see any light at the end of the tunnel. John and Carolyn, Thank You so much for your help and caring.

Jeffery, Thank you for the detailed review -- we appreciate it very much! What you describe is real life -- sometimes part of the reason to hire a lawyer is to take away the stress. I recently struggled and struggled to fix a plumbing problem. Cost me a lot of money trying to do it myself -- called a plumber and he commented how he loved very simple and easy jobs like this. :) Sometimes handling a case on your own (self represented or "pro se") is the way to go but other times it is better to hire someone. Best way to figure this out is to contact a lawyer that you have confidence in to help you go through your options. I'm glad you took the chance to reach out to us again right before trial -- and very happy we had a great success in your case. You stood strong -- refused to pay these guys any money -- and wonderful things happened. That took great courage on your part. The old line about courage -- not the absence of fear but acting in spite of the fear. You were right to be concerned about the trial -- it is a big deal. But you kept fighting and thank you for letting us help you. Appreciate the feedback and best wishes!! John Watts

John Watts is the Man

Honest straight forward real answers. That sums up my experience with John. I was being sued by a debt collector when I called John. He wasted no time getting back with me and explained my options and then followed up with everything he said he would do. He won my case and then sued them and won agai...n when they didn't get it off my credit report. I then was sued again by another credit card company and again he won my case. I would recommend this guy to anybody. I called his office one day and within minutes of leaving a message, I received a call back from him and his associates. They give you a sense of comfort after talking to him my concerns went away. You know you are in good hands the minute you talk to him.

Thank you Allan for your feedback and for letting us represent you. It is always nice when we can beat the collectors on their bogus lawsuits and then sue them in federal court. Thank you for sticking with us and letting us help you. Again I appreciate the kind feedback and review you have given us. Have a great day! John Watts

Stopped the Foreclosure on our Home

I would hire this law firm in a second, since they saved our house from foreclosure. A top notch no nonsense legal team that will help you fight the battle, but you must buy-in to the process. We almost waited too long to yell for help, so park your pride and reputation at the door, dive in and liste...n carefully to what they have to say. I have listed some important touch points below that will give you the best chance to work with them to win the battle that you are facing and overwhelmed with like we were. They don't guarantee results, but their track record speaks for it's self.. * These guys are really good. * Find help before it's too late * Ditch your pride.. take action.. * Hire Watts & Herring sooner than later * Do as they say.. follow the process * Don't procrastinate.. do it.. * They don't sugarcoat anything * You better be thick skinned.. * You are fighting for your survival.. * They will help you understand the rules that many lenders ignore and take unfair advantage of borrowers. * Most important.. Take Action!!! Thankfully our son found Watts & Herring on Google under AlabamaConsumer.com. They were terrific in helping us dodge a foreclosure bullet. Their people, process, intensity and guidance are terrific. Would recommend them all day long.

Thank you Toby for the very kind review you gave us. Facing a foreclosure is very scary. For many of us, when we face something scary we tend to bury our head in the sand and hope that it will go away. But your review is spot on -- you have to take action. Sooner than later. Thanks again for your kind words and your encouragement to people who are facing a foreclosure to take action. That's our mission -- help people understand their rights when it comes to a foreclosure in Alabama and then take the right action immediately. Appreciate you taking the time to review us! John Watts - Excellent attorney with genuine kindness

Upon receiving a summons that I was being sued by a Debt Collector, I felt a sense of hopelessness. After a few days of self pity I took to the internet to see if there was anything I could do. I intently watched Mr. Watts YouTube video and was impressed with his knowledge and demeanor. He outlined ...what to expect in this situation and the available options. I was convinced that I had to take action and called his office and spoke with a kind lady Carolyn. She set up a free phone consultation in which John patiently explained what could be done and that there was hope, real hope. There was a genuine kindness and zero pressure.I was convinced John was the only option for me and hiring him turned into one of the best decisions I've ever made. He kept me updated every step of the way and the outcome I was hoping for was completed even faster than I'd hoped for. I would recommend this man to any and all to stand up to a debt collector company. Thank you John for lifting this burden.

Eddie thank you for leaving us your review. Glad the youtube videos helped and so glad you let us handle this situation for you. When we deal with debt collection lawsuits we like for folks to understand their 5 options. It is not our job to convince consumers to hire us -- instead we lay out the options and if it makes sense, then we are happy to help people directly by representing them. Thank you again for reaching out to us and for letting us help you and for taking the time to leave us your honest review. John Watts

Helping Hands

After I modified my mortgage and made my first two payments, my mortgage company up and decided I was in default, stopped accepting my payments, and moved to foreclose on my home. As a single mom with two small children, panic-stricken does not begin to explain what I was feeling. I had already fough...t for a year to get the modification, and felt I had upheld my end of the bargain by making my payments on time as promised in the agreement I signed. Why am I in default? Can they do this? Every phone call to the mortgage company provided a different nonsense response/reason for what was happening, and something just did not feel right. So I reached out for names, the first two of which left me hanging and did not return my calls. I was already feeling ashamed and embarrassed, I needed help, and after two attorneys completely shunned me, I began to lose hope. I started to think maybe the mortgage company was right and I had messed up somewhere. I almost gave up. Then an attorney friend, who had gone up against John in court a time or two, highly recommended him to me. I have not had the opportunity to meet John as of the time of this review, but his paralegal, Randi, is amazing to say the least. Had I not contacted his office, then watched his RESPA video which gave me the tools I needed to fight back, I would have lost my home. The mortgage company's attorney set a foreclosure sale date. But due to the tools provided in that video, and the help and guidance willingly given by Randi, the foreclosure sale was canceled. My issues are certainly not over, and I have a strong suspicion the time will come when I will need to file suit to get the answers I need. But when that time comes, I am confident in the abilities of John and his staff, and excited to know they are on my team. They are truly dedicated to helping and it shows.

We know how scary it is to face a foreclosure, especially if the responsibility falls entirely on you as a single mother. You did a great job and deserve all the credit for stopping the foreclosure. You took action once you knew your rights! I'm thankful the information we have put out and your conversations with Randi helped in some small way but again you did this and that is wonderful. Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a detailed review/testimonial -- we appreciate it very much! Best wishes and let us know if you have any further issues with your mortgage company. I shot him an email, and this man took a good chunk of time out of one of his otherwise busy days to sit and chat with me, in detail about best practices in this field. I can count on one hand the folks who looked out for me when I started practicing, and of those, the majority were folks that I knew prior to practicing law. John helped me when he didn't even know me. He's a great benefit to our profession."
