Poor Decision
A total nightmare. Don’t do it to yourself!! He will take your money and tell you go to court with him. And then he will indicate to you NO REFUND he will falsify all sought of fees from all over to use up your money . Just not to refund you and no service rendered . Please BEWARE .
This comment comes out of the blue as this attorney has had almost no new clients in four years. The fee structure is nearly always a fixed/capped fee, even for divorces, agreed upon at the beginning of representation. Where a "firm" charges triple for services rendered, this office charged one, small fee. Attorneys are permitted to charge non-refundable initiation fees to open a file, but this office does not do that. The purpose is to save the client money yet have effective litigation capability by going to court and striving to win. The retainer agreement provides for refunds should the client fire the attorney, which many prior clients have triggered and got refunds. No court has ever said this office does not do the work. No client ever said this office does not do the work. This comment comes from a totally unknown source and does so anonymously after four years of a national economic shutdown.

Incompetent
Retained him a few years ago. He failed to reveal my truth which would have changed everything in my case. He has no tools and resorts to underhanded tactics that still don't work. Big show and waste of time. Lots of yelling and barking in court to put on a show with no substance or results. All...
I have no idea who this is as I do not bark in court. I make the client's case by way of the filings, and not by colloquy in court. I reveal each client's truth by way of a factual narrative whether in a petition/complaint or an answer. My clients' sides of the story are never hidden. My tools are my twenty years of practice and the development of each case, and none of my tactics are underhanded. My manner is quietness, not "big show." I never raise my voice in court. The substance is a packed and detailed court file and only my adversaries waste time. A lawyer is never the reason a client loses; it is the client, his/her demeanor. his/her behavior that loses. I also doubt this write up is by an actual client of mine. This review describes a different lawyer, not me.

I wouldn't hire him
We spoke briefly and his attitude is harsh and draining. He jumps to conclusions and makes under handed comments. I think he assumed all Americans must fight after they separate like animals when all some want is an easy review of paper work. He's a jerk and likes to pump his chest. Glad I understand...
The writer is anonymous so I have to guess at which case this is. I believe this writer called my office in May of 2016 asking about the possibility of representation. The caller never hired as his case drew to a disastrous conclusion. He contacted me yesterday, eleven months after his first contact asking if it is still possible to retain me as the bomb in court was about to drop. I call this 'snippet' representation as the client snips away my time on the case perhaps to save on fees while the case falls apart. My appearance at the end is supposed to ward off the results of a year's worth of litigation which the writer says is merely 'paper work'. I have had several of these snippets over time: many were lost and harsh criticism was the result. I constantly warn askers, callers and clients alike to retain counsel at the start of a family court case. Many tell me they cannot afford a lawyer without ever asking me what I charge. Snippet representation is no representation and doing it oneself is a guaranty for disaster.

I do not recommend Peter.
I retained Peter Lomtevas almost two years ago to represent me in an action case brought against me in a family matter. Even though I was extremely dissatisfied with the way he handled my case, I must at least state that Peter is usually very responsive when you need to speak to him. However, oth...
I believe your mother wrote this review but I will address my reply to you. You attempted family court litigation for years on your own and then retained me on a relocation case after a family member guided you to assemble evidence they thought would work. You saved pennies and lost dollars. I'm sorry that sounds harsh but when you are in court regarding your children, the results can be harsher including losing custody of your children which could be imminent. Specifically, your step dad, a veteran of dozens of years in the family court system as a respondent father, appears to have conjured up a plan to help you relocate to another state after you and your ex fought in court with dozens of petitions for almost all the years your children have been alive. Your plan included showing future education plans leading to a lesser degree than you already had, employment plans you have not yet been hired for (at a lower rate of pay than in N.Y.) and living accommodations you could not afford. To move to another state, your situation must go up immediately, not down. Your step dad must have then suggested that in order to save money on counsel fees, you should take all this useless evidence -- photos of a home, school brochures, work brochures and various other advertisements -- to a lawyer to push the case past the finish line. You remember best my advice to you as to what other areas had to be testified to. We had a trial and the judge denied your move. The judge reasoned that your intentions were merely wanting to get away from the ex because your education and work plans were not credible. Your brochures would have made the decision worse than it already was. Now I see that you have more petitions with the ex. At the rate you are going, you will lose custody soon. Your ex knows what buttons to push to make you upset and you launch new petitions every time he does so. Eventually, the court will try new ways to make the petitions stop and the ex will get the kids for the court to see if that works. Lastly, you remember how you and I bonded well and worked together well. It was your mother who said I was condescending and it was your step father who came to my office to cross examine me as to why I did not put your brochures into evidence. It was from that meeting that I realized he was the manager of the case. Too many cooks spoiled the broth and now your mother is on a quest to humiliate me here and on Facebook in an attempt to cost me future business by saying she does not 'recommend' me. Please have her stop and I suggest you stop the petitions.
