Sometimes you contact an attorney because you're in a bad situation. A situation so intolerable, that you feel you have no options but to take legal action.
Sometimes, the attorneys you contact will act annoyed with you, treat you like they don't have the time for you. Maybe they're having a bad day as they speed off in their BMW or Jaguar, and fit every stereotype of an attorney one can think of.
Calvin Chang is clearly a respected attorney. I've found, that in contacting many "successful" attorneys, they have rather talked down to me and treated me like an inconvenience, if they're not seeing half a million dollar settlement options immediately. Not with Mr. Chang...
Calvin Chang has patiently responded to several of my e-mails, consulted with me, and given me a thorough review of all the facts. It's been a string of at least 20 emails for a possible housing discrimination claim.
His patient, analytical and thorough demeanor gives me confidence, that we are in good hands with him. He sees the potential claim in the facts, in a situation where other attorneys are rolling their eyes and acting irritated that I "wasted their time."
I can tell that this guy is legit. He's treated me right in a situation where other lawyers have dismissed me outright. There is clearly a good reason for his positive reviews thus far. I can only hope that I can retain him to proceed further with my legal claims.

When you're aggrieved in a legal situation, you want to feel like you have representation opposing counsel will respect and take seriously, that he or she will actually merit that estimation, and that your counsel will be accessible and friendly toward you. If any of these qualities isn't there, it can be a problem. Calvin Chang represented me in a successful settlement outcome with a former employer, and demonstrated these qualities. I was a complex litigation paralegal for some years, and later worked for an employment law firm; I can say, having worked on the inside, that he is an uncommon attorney. I was never shoved to a secretary. I never had to make repeat calls. I was never left hanging, or with the feeling that my concerns didn't matter. I am very pleased to have retained Calvin Chang in this matter and would recommend him to anybody with a legal need in his area of expertise.

Mr. Calvin Chang was a fantastic advocate for me. I contacted him regarding a complaint against my employer and he was tremendously kind, patient and prompt in addressing all my concerns. He completed paperwork, phone calls and emails on my behalf. He was extremely competent and well versed in the laws he represents. His fees were very reasonable.
On countless occasions I emailed Mr. Chang a question(s) and he always responded immediately. I know he worked day and night on my case (I saw the time stamps on the emails he sent often came in at 11:00 p.m. or 5:00 a.m.). Even while Mr. Chang was on vacation, he stayed in close contact with me regarding the progress of my complaint. I am certain I was not Mr. Chang's only client, however his hard work made me feel like I was.
In short, I was confused and frustrated with my situation. I honestly did not know where to turn. Mr. Chang assisted me through a difficult process and the outcome was better than I anticipated.
If you find yourself in the unfortunate situation of needing an attorney, Mr. Chang is the representative you want in your corner.

Calvin successfully represented me as the plaintiff in several cases of discrimination. He is experienced in matters involving civil rights (among others) and has an in-depth understanding of the law surrounding them. Calvin acted quickly from the beginning of and throughout the representations, provided ample communications in a timely manner, and endeavored to pursue the representations in my interests, unlike many attorneys who are disappointing in these aspects. I highly recommend anybody with a potential matter within his areas of practice to contact him.

Mr. Chang handled my case with courtesy and efficiency. I thought this was going to be a complicated matter. He took my case, immediately started working it and resolved it surprisingly quickly. The main thing we waited on was the other attorney. I’d highly recommend him.

Earlier in the year I was wrongfully defamed and terminated by my employer. I discussed my case with three separate lawyers, all of whom declined to take my case. Through pure luck, I found Calvin Chang of Sacramento; he is a former police officer turned employment attorney. Calvin accepted my case and through diligence and ingenuity, he was able to restore my good name as well as recover a generous settlement, for which he took a lesser percentage (for himself) to successfully negotiate the case to resolution.

From start to finish Calvin was extremely professional and pro-active about handling my case. This was my first time dealing with legal issues and he was very thorough with all process and keeping me in the loop with everything that was going on and responded to any of my questions as quickly as I could have hoped for. I am very greatful that I found him.

I needed information about my wife's employer and her disability, she needed reasonable accommodation and was being denied by her employer. I needed to know what avenues were open to us. Calvin explained what steps to take and what processes to follow with Fair Housing and Employment. Calvin stated that until DFEH was involved, he could not move forward with legal action. This advice made our path forward very clear. I could not ask for more. My wife is now contacting DFEH and filing a complaint against her employer. Prior to speaking with Calvin, we had no idea what our options were or where to turn.
