A Champion of Employment Representation
I can't recommend Joseph enough. If he takes your case, you have an angel in court. This guy knows his stuff. Get your facts together and give them to him and he will help you if you have even the slightest angle, assuming you have been treated wrongly. He actually cares about you, because, otherwise, he'd be doing something else to be more profitable. Joe has a big heart and an experienced mind. You can't beat that. He helped me bring suit against my employer twice, and we won both times, including an EDD case, for a total of three victories. I'm very happy with Joe's work and results.

Professional and Caring
I hired Mr. Maloney for a complex employment action. At every step, he displayed the utmost professionalism and knowledge. He was always prepared, well-spoken and respectful. It was a comfort to sit next to him in court knowing that he was more than capable of taking care of all the legal aspects of our case. He was also always compassionate and upbeat. He made a difficult, trying time for me, tolerable. I really felt like I had someone on my side that was more than capable of standing up for my rights. He is a true professional and a great all around person. I can't thank him enough for guiding me through something I never could have done on my own.

Review from JCT
I first contacted Mr.Maloney eighteen months ago for a legal opinion on actions my soon-to-be former employer was taking. Then last June he helped me navigate the white waters of contract negotiations with my former employer. Joseph did a great job. Without his help I would have botched it. I recommend him highly.

Disability Discrimination, Failure to Accommodate and Wrongful Discharge
After serving over 19 years with a local government entity I was abruptly fired ostensibly because of having been found unfit for duty and incapable of performing the essential duties of my position. As my attorney, Joseph Maloney dominated literally every aspect of the ensuing litigation. However, with virtually unlimited financial resources the attorneys representing my employer apparently sought to simply "starve me out", so to speak, and month-by-month ultimately caused legal proceedings to be drawn out over a period of five years. But Joe stayed the course, and shortly after prevailing before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals we finally accepted a seven-figure settlement offer. This was an extremely complicated case, and watching Joe seemingly effortlessly maneuver through all of the legal procedures and court proceedings was most impressive. His profound respect for the judicial system, exemplary conduct, honesty, extraordinary capabilities and meticulousness simply must play well with adjudicators. And his compassion for his clients is utterly remarkable. Do you think you might ever find an attorney who would send paid certificates for flu shots to you and your spouse because he knew your employer had left you financially strapped? I did!

He stays for the long haul!
"Joe stuck with me all the way through trial in my difficult 8 year federal employment discrimination case even when I wanted to quit. I'd recommend him to anyone, but especially any federal employee with trouble at work".

A great help when I needed help!
Joe was a great help to me when I lost my job. He helped me get my unemployment benefits even though the employer opposed them and EDD initially denied them. And, after that, he helped me take care of my remaining issues with my employer. He was very helpful and quick and competent!

Wrongful Termination
A personal friend at a large law firm referred Joseph to me. He told me his firm rated him a very knowledgeable and competent employment attorney. I have to agree. I trust his judgement, advise and ability to prepare me for the next step in the process. I am confident Joseph provides me the best representation available in labor related matters. If you are looking for an attorney...you need to look no further than Joseph Maloney.

Passionate, Thorough, and Knowledgeable
Joseph Maloney is an excellent attorney to work with because he is passionate, thorough and knowledgeable. He was able to make sense of a large volume of complex information and with his great analytical skills and experience, he represented the case fairly. He was easily accessible and stayed familiar and up to date with all aspects of the case. I appreciated his integrity and honesty and how he conducted himself. I felt Joe "owned the case" and that he did everything possible to help me succeed. If needed, I would want him to represent me again.

"I endorse this lawyer. I have known Joe Maloney both professionally and personally for nearly 25 years, starting when he worked as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of California. We have litigated against one another on several occasions and have enjoyed a close collaborative relationship over the years that he has been in private practice. He’s an excellent advocate, a “lawyer’s lawyer” in the true sense of those words. Joe has impressive litigation credentials, having represented clients in the state and federal courts and before administrative bodies for 30 years. He well understands how to put a case together and take it the distance if necessary. He has a deep understanding of how to present a case and where he is in the litigation process. He conducts thorough research and speaks with authority when appearing before the courts. When the subject is a federal personnel matter, Joe is a commanding presence in the courtroom."

"I highly endorse this lawyer. I am a former DEA Special Agent, and retired Sacramento County Deputy District Attorney and General Counsel for a Special District in Sacramento. Joe has been a great help to me consulting on an important case involving a federal law enforcement Special Agent with a personnel claim. Joe's knowledge of federal court civil procedure and federal employment law is phenomenal. He is in his own league relative to his writing and analytical skills. His thorough and unique understanding of state and federal labor law places him in the top echelon of labor law attorneys. Furthermore, he is very detail oriented, personable, and charismatic, both with clients and other counsel. Joe is the consummate professional."
