Had a v high BAC but Nan made me calm the whole way through and helped me approach the whole situation in a very business like manner. Had an unexpected problem with scheduling the SWP and the judge was not happy about it but it was due to a misunderstanding. At the hearing, Nan was firm and clear with the judge, with whom she has a great relationship judging by their communication, and he solved the problem quickly and easily. If you need help for a DUI in the Bay Area, call Nan first!

I had questions about a past legal situation and sought closure, to stop wondering where I stand. Answers to my questions were extremely hard to find on my own, i had tried for a long time.
I told Nancy the facts of my situation in a phone consultation. She listened, looked into the matter and got back to me quickly with helpful information. I am very grateful for her time and interest to help me, and wish I had called a long time ago.

Nancy has exceeded my expectations in every way imaginable. I came to her after receiving my first DUI in February. Honestly i thought that I would be able to handle all the paperwork and processes that came with a DUI by myself, but I couldn't be more wrong. There's so much involved with a DUI, and of course as we all know dealing with the DMV'S a pain in the butt by its self. If it wasn't for Nancy I'm sure that I would have miss read paper work, forget to file for my restricted license, and had a warrant out for my arrest because I missed my pre booking date for community service. She's a hands on, interactive attorney that really takes the time to assure that her clients are doing everything properly, and as efficient as possible.

Nan helped make an overwhelming experience more manageable. She promptly returned my call when I reached out to her and set up an appointment to meet and discuss my case the same day. Initially having no real grasp on how to approach the situation I was in, Nan provided me with answers to all my questions and have me a better idea of what to expect during the legal process. Mid sentence I had to relocate out of state for work and Nan maintained the same high level of communication giving me confidence throughout the rest of the legal process. Thanks Nan!

Nan is an awesome lawyer. Unfortunately I had to be a repeat customer but she was outstanding both times. Argued hard with the DA to get me the best deal possible and both times the outcome was far better than I had expected. Her communication is great and you get the feeling she really cares about you and the outcome of your case. Can't recommend her enough.

I chose Nan after interviewing six attorneys, and I made the right choice. I was impressed at how she clearly walked me through the different processes pertaining to my particular case, in the meanwhile aptly managed my expectation. It's been almost a year since she took on my case, and I am very happy to receive the result that I have been hoping for, all with Nan's help in every step of the way. Through out the whole process, Nan was always available via texts for my questions and for status updates. She would text me after every trial date, and updated me on the next step. And when there was more to discuss, she made time to meet with me in her office. She possess intimate knowledge of the process, the people, and the system. Most importantly, she listened to my ideas on what we can do to help with the case, and transparently discussed their merits. Not all my ideas was useful, but I was grateful that she was very open-minded in listening to me. It was a struggling time coping with my case, but Nan really helped ease off the stress. She never gave up, and kept pushing on negotiating with the DA for a better deal. And the result speaks for itself: my DUI charge was reduced to wet reckless. I learned a big lesson, and Nan really helped me through this process.

I've never written an Avvo review... This will be my first. I was arrested for a DUI In early 2015 and I was involved in an accident which fortunately included only myself. Given the accident I knew I would need the best attorney I could find. After asking friends and searching various sites for reviews I narrowed it down to 3 attorneys.
Nan was the first attorney I contacted, and she made time to meet with me in between court appointments at the Palo Alto courthouse. When we arrived, the the Deputy Sherriff at the metal detector asked who I was there to see, and I mentioned I was there to interview an attorney to possibly represent me. When I gave him Nan's name, he became very friendly and said you will not find a better attorney and that she was extremely well respected there. Another Sherrif jumped in and said I would lucky to have her. That was surprising.
She came out when I texted her, and in 5 minutes of questions guessed what my blood alcohol was going to be within a surprisingly accurate range, assessed my accident and injuries, and then wrote out a detailed sequence of events that she was going to help me achieve including keeping me with a license to drive back and forth to work with no down time. Her assessment was so impressive. With that and the Sherrif Deputies having already given me unexpected references, I hired her on the spot and wrote her a check... Best money I ever spent. My suspicion that she was going to be a masterful navigator and negotiator and was severely underestimated.
Everything she laid out happened. I was completely honest with her up front so I had no surprises. My case is still ongoing as my injuries have prevented me from completing my community service, and Nan remains diligent after so much time. I honestly believe I would have been screwed had I not hired her. She took all he stress out of an unbelievably stressful time in my life. I will never forget it, and I cannot put into words how strongly I recommend her!

My husband made a stupid mistake and was facing a felony drug charge. Nan was straight up with us from the beginning and I was confident, upon our first meeting, that we had made the right decision in hiring her. My husband walked away only having to do probation for a misdemeanor. We are so grateful to Nan, and would highly recommend anyone looking for lawyer to call her!

I hired Ms. Bucknell a couple of months back on a Domestic Violence case after interviewing more than 6-7 attorneys, not only in San Jose, but all over the Bay. While her fees were slightly on the higher side, if I had to take this decision again, I would choose Ms. Bucknell. Not only did she give me a complete picture of my case and possible outcomes from day one, but she also provided me with comfort and constant responses so that I didn't feel alone in this fight for even a second. She responded to my questions patiently and at most times, within 5 mins on text or email. And having worked with another Attorney, who wouldn't even reply to most of my emails, save give me his phone number, this was a refreshing change. Ms. Bucknell would give definitive answers even while texting back. The fact that I am from an Asian country and here on an H1B (and at a significant disadvantage compared to citizens) did not deter her from getting the best possible outcome on my case.
Last week, during the pre-trial hearing my case was dismissed by the DA in the "interest of justice".
Ms. Bucknell is hard as a nail attorney and has a great personal rapport with the DA in San Jose. And the more information you provide and the more forthright you are with her, the better outcome she will get in your case. All the best!
