After feeling pressured by the DA and threatened by the PD representing my ex, I decided to find a lawyer. True to my nature of researching everything, I meticulously scoured through client’s reviews of various attorneys and narrowed it down to a final select few. The other attorneys did not answer, nor did they ever return my call. In hindsight, I appreciate their lack of professionalism because it lead me to Nan Bucknall. She was the only one who took a moment during the lunch hour to personally answer her phone. She allows you direct contact with her through her cell, despite having secretaries and a paralegal at her office! This is incredible and you can rest assured that you won’t be waiting long for anyone to relay her messages to get back to you (as many attorneys do). After a brief discussion with her, I knew I needed to look no further. Now, I understand my particular case was not especially time-consuming or strategically daunting, but I needed Nan in my corner. When I hired her, I knew I was safe. I told her I was vehemently against testifying in court and I can tell you this: after all the subpoenas and continuances, I never had to appear thanks to her. Nonetheless, she was at every court date and reported back to me right away. The peace of mind she gave me was priceless. While no lawyer can ever guarantee you the outcome you wish, it is exciting when they do. With her help, the case was resolved exactly how I had hoped it would be. I am pursuing a career in law and have been around various types of attorneys — Nan is the kind of lawyer I’d aspire to be because she’s brilliant, driven, and holds herself to a high moral standard. She gets right in there and gets the job done. With all due respect to Santa Clara County, don’t expect a public defender to yield even a fraction of the results that Nan can! I highly recommend that you look no further and give Nan a call!

I hired Ms Bucknell a few years ago to represent me in a petty criminal case. After paying her fees in advance, she was extremely hard to reach and I don't believe she even showed up at my court date. The icing on the cake was when I called her office one day and she thought she hung up but I was sti...ll on the line. I heard her say to somebody in her office: "there are too many Indians in the Bay". My ethnicity is Indian. Other rude comments were fairly common like "I can't understand your accent". I have a fairly low key accent and have never heard anybody comment about it ever. If you do decide to retain her services despite reading this review, please pay her AFTER and not before.

Back in January, my girlfriend and I got into a heated argument, a lovers’ quarrel that would have not mean anything outside of California, but the California police came and arrested her on domestic violence charges. At the time, I was not aware that in the state of California, one can be charged o...n domestic violence even for verbal arguments, and it is a serious crime that if convicted, with jail time up to 3 years. This is the first time either of us was in jail, and since we normally don’t cross paths with the law, it was a pretty traumatic experience for both of us. I wouldn’t know how we would have gotten out of this situation without Nan. Luckily we found her by a friend’s referral, and after hearing our story, she jumped on the case, visiting my GF at 10 PM the same night, to console and calmed her down, and the very next day, Nan was able to work her magic and convince the DA to dismiss my GF’s case. Unfortunately, this was not the end of the story, the craziness continues, the police came on the very next day, and arrested me also on charges of domestic violence. Given we already had a good deal of trust between us; I called on Nan from jail asking for her help. She visited the same night, and promptly helped to arrange my bail, and got me out by 2 am, so I wouldn’t have to spend the night in jail. What I appreciate the most is, Nan went beyond her business responsibilities as my lawyer, and even went down to the county jail to pick up my GF for me, knowing she would freak out if no one is there to pick her up. After bailing me out of the jail, Nan also worked to get my case dismissed in 10 days so I wouldn’t have to go through the ordeal of a court appearance. She was the aspirin for what could have been a huge time consuming legal headache for me. I haven’t had much experience with lawyers, but meeting Nan definitely changed my perception of lawyers. She is extremely professional, detail oriented, and personable. It was a pleasure working with her on my case, she was crisp and clear in our discussions, and was up front about the issues, and didn’t try to sugarcoat or over promised me anything. I would highly recommend her, she is not cheap, but she is worth every penny I paid, I would rather pay Nan, be a free man and make the money back in a fraction of the time I’d spend doing time in jail. God forbid, if I ever run into legal issues, she would be the first person I would turn to for help.

Nan helped me out at my time of need. I was accused of sexual battery. she was with me all the way. she fought for me. never gave up on me. I was scared, but she but me at ease. she helped with my family handle this case as I was locked up in county. she did everything in her power to get me out. she... was always at court and came to visit me in jail. I'm now with my family once again. she is the best. still after the case was over she is still with me helping me. she fights with everything she got's . I recommend her to every one as my case was a tough case. she went head on. thanks Nan.

We first hired Ms. Bucknell over a year ago to represent my son for a non-violent criminal charge and a violation of probation on a drug charge. We had already paid two other lawyers for prior misdemeanor charges with unsatisfactory results. With our limited financial resources, we thought that his... latest charge would have to be left to the public defenders. I dreaded that my son would become just another case file among hundreds at the public defenders office. Ms. Bucknell understood our financial dilemma and made us a reasonable offer to represent my son on his new charge. She not only gave us the peace of mind of knowing what we should expect of the "correctional system", but she gave him guidance in making the best decisions regarding his defense. She has visited him at the jail every time he requested to meet with her before court appearances and has always been available by phone or email if I have any questions or concerns regarding my son's cases. I have no regrets that we hired Nan Bucknell to represent my son and I would recommend her to everyone that needs a lawyer and does not want to get lost in the "legal system".
