A unique snowflake

When I met with Amir and his staff for my consultation, he was very easy going. No pressure to get me to sign anything. What I liked most about him was the positive energy that emanates from him. He is funny, hip, knowledgeable and VERY smart. And when I say VERY smart, he memorized all the importa...nt events in my 30 page file and 17 page complaint within 30 minutes. He knew the case inside and out. I also found his honesty very refreshing: he lays out the pros and cons in a very clear and well thought out manner. Do yourself a favor and get on this client's list because I have a feeling another firm or company is going to make him an offer he can't refuse. He was literally twice the attorney my old attorney ever was--and my old attorney was a "Super Attorney," whatever that means. When I asked Amir how come he isn't one of those "Super Attorneys" he said that a lot of other attorneys are jealous of him. He's young and has his own firm. More importantly, he's litigating with the biggest boys in Los Angeles.

Uniquely Talented Attorney

I went to UC Berkeley with Amir and knew him from class so I knew he was smart. My boss needed someone to take a deposition this morning at 10:30 a.m. because he had a disagreement with the attorney he had retained. Immediately I suggested Amir. He said he would do the depo, no questions asked. He re...viewed the file for 10 minutes and ruined the deponent to a point where he said he wanted to kill my boss on the record. After that Amir spoke with the deponent and gave him the "nothing personal it's just my job spiel" and the guy went from homicidal to enamored with him in an instant. Talented freakin attorney. His level of confidence and competence is something to admire.

The 1-stop-shop for my business and legal needs

Mr. Dubai is a very experienced lawyer that provided our company crystal clear advice. Our company sells healthy snack foods online. This is something Mr. Dubai had done before. He took care of EVERY, SINGLE legal need we had from creating an LLC to drafting the final disclaimers on the website. I ...know we will use Amir's services again in the future because he took plenty of time to learn about our business without charging us a penny. One day he spent 6 hours with us going over our operations and website design so he could write a proper disclaimer: he billed us $250.00 for the disclaimer which we really appreciated as a startup. He is good at dedicating his time to helping you the best he can. Most importantly, he's good at keeping his costs down for his clients. I remember jokingly saying "if I help you succeed now I can bill you more when you're making money." to which I replied "how do you know we're gonna use your firm when we're rich?" Without blinking he said "Because I'm the best... attorney for your company and always will be" He was cocky, confident, playful and dead serious about his work. Everyone at our company loved him except the one partner who is a lawyer... CONS: He is a "general" attorney. Our partner that is a lawyer wanted a transactions/corporate attorney. He acts differently towards different people (hard to explain); and he becomes disinterested if you are confrontational with him. For example, our lawyer/partner started screaming at him when he dismissed her opinion about LLCs. She said he was talking down to her. As it turns out, Amir was right and she was wrong which made things even worse. When we returned to the table, Amir took a minute before saying "that was personal, and personal isn't good for business." But after that he became a lot more "lawyer-like" and hid his personality. PROS: Though he's a General attorney--he knows his stuff. His broad area of practice is useful for a startup like ours because he saves us lots of time and money for a minimal fee. He is also a litigator/trial lawyer which gave us a lot of confidence knowing he will defend us from the very contracts he created. He is REALLY smart and contributes in areas one would least expect. You don't ever have to worry about another attorney pulling a quick one on this guy. And if you were wondering, YES, Amir did ask us to leave him a nice review online. He only said this to us after our last project was over and we were all saying goodbye. But even if this review sounds fake, he did tell us to put in a pros and cons section so other people have a better idea of who/what they are getting. Aside form the one partner/lawyer that was upset with him, we'll definitely use Amir again as his bill was about 50% (thousands less) than the previous attorney we worked with... and that attorney wasn't nearly as good... he was just old. (the old guy wanted us to "fax" him everything. On the other hand, Amir would respond to some of our questions by recording himself and sending the video to our phones!) If you need a lawyer that uses his smarts to help you instead of himself, Amir is the guy for you.

the lawyer we all wish we had

I met Amir at the ticket counter before our flight from LAX from NY. He was there to see how much it would cost to upgrade to first class and I was there to see if I could have my second bag fee waived. Amir was paying $50 to upgrade to first and I was paying $50 to get my bag on! He "advised" me to ...upgrade to first and my bags would be free... and he was right. I guess some lawyers are just always in that mode. Anyhoo... we got the last two first class seats and I came to find out he is a lawyer that was just in NYC for fashion week to attend meetings with a designer. I had a serious legal situation and wanted to ask him about it but I was really worried about bothering him! Imagine!!! someone starts bothering you for legal advice after you help them get onto first class after a long weekend! I needed something filed immediately but my attorney was "too busy" and wanted to charge me a very high rate so I nervously asked Amir about it. But I'm glad I did. He is young and flying across the country to hang out at fashion week so I pegged him as an arrogant entertainment attorney. To my delight he was anything but that! He gave me his card and jokingly ordered me a drink from the steward (the drinks were free!) We talked a little while longer about the situation but he said he was really tired and would be glad to talk about it tomorrow when he is in the office. I called him the next day at his office and he said he would charge me $500.00 to file for me. This came as a huge surprise since the court fee was more than half of that. "My" attorney, that I've known for years was going to charge $1000 plus the court fee. I drove the money over to his office in Santa Monica. He has a VERY nice office... the conference room had views of the ocean and downtown. He apologized for falling asleep on the flight, took my money and had someone run to the Court to file it right away. He said that if I could hold on tight for a couple hours he would give me the confirmation of filing or he could mail, fax, email or even text it to me which I thought was really funny. I had lunch and by the time I came back he had filed it for me and I got my confirmation. I could not have been more fortunate to meet Amir. I wanted to ask him to take the case altogether but I thought I had pushed my luck far enough. I thanked him and told him I owe him one. All he asked is that I recommend him to honest clients that pay their bills on time and to leave him a review anywhere online. Well, this is for you Amir! And thanks for the drink!

Do You Watch the Show: "SUITS"?

I hired Amir to get a restraining order. He was recommended to me by a common friend who had not used him as an attorney so I didn't know what to expect. Over the phone he was very professional. He realized my problem right away and seemed to seemed to know exactly what I should be oncerned about. Fr...om what I saw, he is very sharp and smart... something he isn't shy about sharing. His price was normal. When we went to Court the person I was getting the TRO against showed up and Amir made sure that person doesn't bother me. I appreciated that. In front of the judge he was really prepared and clear. Im not a lawyer so I did not understand somethings going on but the person I got the TRO against claimed that there was no service. Amir didnt even let it to get that and said service was unnecessary and somehow the judge agreed. The judge granted the TRO and we probably won't have to go back because the other person agreed to the TRO. I paid him hourly and our agreement was $1000 up front and I would pay anything more after he billed me. Because the other person agreed to the TRO Amir charged me for 3 hours which I believe since 1 and half hours was in Court that day. He gave me a $250 check right away, we shook hands and that was that. The thing I was most impressed with was his courtroom skills. He knew everyone in the courtroom and they all had an inside joke with him. Everyone kept asking him "do you watch that show suits?" I'll admit I thought the same thing when we first met.

"I met Mr. Dibaei at an event in LA and he was effortlessly the center of attention. When I told him this he replied "I'm usually the smartest guy in the room but if I'm not, I'm the one you'll remember anyways," he said in a completely joking and somewhat self-deprecating manner. About 4 months later we needed a business litigation attorney in LA. I suggested him to our managing partner and we retained Mr. Dibaei as our local LA counsel. Shortly thereafter we switched managing partners and the new partner wanted Mr. Dibaei replaced because she felt he was too inexperienced. To be completely honest I agreed that he may be too inexperienced. When we informed our client that we would be retaining new local counsel--she vehemently refused and echoed my sentiment about his genuineness. Both the partner and I had a chance to work with Mr. Dibaei during the project and immediately realized what a huge mistake we almost made. When it comes to litigators Mr Dibaei is the complete package"

Contracts and agreements lawyer | Feb 28

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"Our firm worked alongside Mr. Dibaei. Mr. Dibaei's client is a startup that is raising capital secured by the company's assets. Our firm represents lenders (banks and hard-money). Our project required we collaborate with Mr. Dibaei to draft lending agreements mutually acceptable to all parties. Based on the adversarial nature of such a set up, there is almost always some level of contention between the attorneys. To the contrary, Mr. Dibaei had done his homework. He had taken the time to acquire previous agreements we had drafted and made changes to address his client's needs as a borrower. Mr. Dibaei possesses a tremendous and comforting presence that made the project go by very smoothly. Our managing partner wanted to create more billable hours so he took issue but Mr. Dibaei masterfully pacified the partner's ego without the project skipping a beat. Perhaps most impressive was his commitment to his client: he had drafted a masterfully tailored operating agreement."
