This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority.
Reprimand means an attorney did something wrong but may still practice law. The State gives the lawyer a public reprimand in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior. Details of the infraction are made part of the public record.
James’s comment: “I have handled many out-of-state legal matters for a number of clients. I have always moved the court for permission to appear after notifying opposing counsel of my licensure status. In all but one case I have been granted such. In MN I was given Private Probation for too many admissions on a MN opposing attorney's complaint; the WI regulatory body desired not to honor reciprocal discipline & compelled me to stipulate to a public reprimand. I did. I accept responsibility & ask what harm?”

We met James 3 years ago when our troubles started with our mortgage company, JP Morgan Chase. While this case has drug on for some time James has worked much harder than we could possibly expect an attorney to. We often see the frustration he has in dealing with Chase but he continues to seek new ways to resolve our issue. We trust James completely and feel that he is working in our best interest.

For nearly four years I spun my wheels in the St. Croix County family court system with a very good and well intentioned lawyer who tried their best to help me out. It just wasn't working with them, so upon the recommendation of a trusted friend I hired Bock to represent me.
Having foolishly signed a divorce decree that left me virtually at the mercy of my ex concerning spending time with my daughter, I knew would be fighting an uphill battle. Upon hiring Bock to represent me, in less than a calendar he managed to completely turn everything around and I finally achieved equal/joint custody of my daughter and got back to seeing her on a consistent basis.
Bock was tenacious in court, but also respectful to the judge and opposing counsel (even though frankly, they were less than courteous and honorable in return). He always kept his cool and was always extremely professional in court.
There was never a moment of doubt or hesitation that Bock would help me achieve the only thing I cared about: getting to be a part of my daughter's life. If you've ever been through the family court system you know how stressful everything is: the waiting, the preparation, and of course, court itself. I won't say it was stressless, but I will say that Bock did an amazing job easing my mind and giving me confidence that everything was going to turn out the way we wanted it to--and it did. I can't imagine how a lawyer could do a better job at taking a really tough situation and making it manageable and as simple as possible.
Bock never once flaked out on me, cancelled a meeting, overcharged me, or did anything to ever break my trust. He always--and I mean ALWAYS--responded to my emails or calls in a timely manner, and never made me feel like I was asking stupid questions even when I was asking stupid questions or just looking for reassurance. He was always so patient with me, it made the whole process that much easier.
On top of everything else, Bock was exceedingly gracious with my financial situation. During this whole process I was working for a non-profit organization not making a ton of money. I ran out of money more than once, and he was so understanding and gracious. Even when I couldn't immediately pay him, he never changed how hard he worked for me or treated me like a second-rate client. That is a rare quality in a lawyer.
Honestly, I simply cannot say enough good things about Bock. It is not hyperbole to say that he changed my life insofar has he made it possible for me to finally have consistent time with my daughter. I hope I never have to use his professional services again, but I have never hesitated to refer my friends to him if they are in need of an amazing family lawyer.

I knew from our first meeting that I would not have to look any further for an attorney. I had done my research online but it was time to have someone else to "fight my battle" when child placement became an issue to my ex. James has been able to keep me informed through it all and to explain things so I felt knowledgable with what was going on. We are just now nearing the end of our almost year long battle. It certainly hasn't been easy all of the time - after all - James is your "rainy day" kind of guy but he has helped make it bearable. He truly listens to what I need to say - even if it's just venting - and gives me honest advice to help me make those tough decisions that are unavoidable. I have already referred him onto friends and family that are in need of a great attorney and I will certainly continue to refer him to anyone should they need legal assistance - I have never once thought I made the wrong choice when I chose James CW Bock as my attorney.
