Divorces are always stressful; they break not only the immediate family, but also extended family and friends. Capacity of mental strength needed to overcome all the losses is huge. James is incredibly smart, and probably smarter then any other lawyer you will hire. My case was complicated with a lot of drama and I respected that James always took the high road-however, I wish he would have trusted my complaints in the beginning about the other parties control issues and stallin...g tactics so we could have been more aggressive from the beginning and saved a lot of time and money. But I don't know either if he did that if it would have changed the outcome. James is respectable. I did not see him litigate in the court room, but I do believe he wants what is best for children and he will be the bigger person even when being bombarded by dramatic opposing attorneys. I wish James would have had "my back" a little more towards the end and showed maybe more empathy for what I could have been feeling. He is very analytical and not fond of feelings, so other emotional female clients might do better with a female attorney-but James is also there to help your child and help your case, not be an emotional support animal. Thus-my struggle. Now that things have calmed down I can see this more clearly, but a little improvement to bedside manner would still be good! James is a great person and I really admire him. My only advice is to have a bit more empathy and try to explain things in "simple" terms for people like me who struggle with all the legal terminology and struggle to understand things explained to them in such a formal way. I would hire James again because I know he is brilliant. But, I do wish James would try to be a bit more compassionate for people who aren't use to going through custody battles. He's the guy for you if you have a tough case and a thick skin.
