Michelle did such an amazing job advocating for me regarding my concerns. As a newly single dad, I was honestly very afraid of the process and what it might mean for my kids and I. After 8.5 years, I was required to get an Attorney and I was terrified about the situation. I didn't even know where to begin in finding a family court Attorney so I googled for local Attorneys and Michelle Achterberg appeared. I read reviews (on this website) and took the plunge. I couldn't be happier with not only my final result, but the professionalism and approach she took with my case. She was straight forward and realistic with me. She explained what we could and couldn't do and what rights we had backing us statutorily. We took the ball and kept it in our court and were prepared to press harder if needed. Thankfully, in my situation, we didn't need to, and it concluded very quickly. I was lucky in this regard. If necessary, I would have continued to use Attorney Achterberg throughout my case. I can't agree more with every positive comment mentioned about her and Malori. She was fair in pricing and I felt like she made my case a priority. She was timely with everything we needed to do, whether it be contacting the other Attorney, filing paperwork with the Court, or writing up our own proposals. I always felt welcomed to contact her with questions, concerns, or ideas, and she responded very quickly. Our conversations were not rushed and I never felt like I was competing for time on my case. I felt as though she recognized every conversation, every minute, was important to me and my case and she respected this. I'm hopeful I won't need to hire anybody in the future, but if I do, I will absolutely return to this office and I can't speak highly enough of this experience. If you are getting a divorce hire her immediately! Run to her office! I went through a messy year long divorce where I stood to lose everything. Michelle was with me every step of the way. She kept me well informed, never backed down to my exe's lawyer, fought for me in court and when my ex didn't follow our divorce decree, she didn't hesitate to drag him back to court. I did extensive research before I purchase products or services and all of the previous reviews about this attorney are 100% correct. I had probably one of the most complicated child custody cases a court can see and with her due diligence, wit and humor Michelle and her assistant Malori made the process a lot easier to deal with.

I had never been to a lawyer before, so this was a new experience with a lot of new lingo. Michele was very Friendly, open, honest and has a sense of humor, which made me feel at ease. Well to say my divorce was challenging would be an understatement! I had a lot of medical issues during my divorce and it took a lot of patience to work with me. The thing that stands out to me most about Michelle is her knowledge of the cases. I felt like I was the only case she had. I had been divorced before and had terrible experiences with my lawyer mixing up my case with others and being unprepared at hearings. Michelle studies her cases well, I never felt like I was on the back burner. She is wonderful to work with and I apprecieated her presence in the room vs. feeling like I was a distraction. There was always continuity with her team and great communication on how the case was progressing.
