I made a horrible decision and got myself into a situation that resulted in arrest for a hit and run and OWI. This was the first time that I had ever been in any sort of trouble and I honestly had no idea where to begin to fix things. I live in Northville so I found Kelly & Kelly based on their locat...ion, experience with DUIs, and great ratings on Jonathan Paul's proactive program. I applied to be a client and they contacted me within an hour of submission. They were always prompt in their responses to all of my questions and were able to begin helping me almost immediately. They explained to me their approach and thoughts on my case during our initial consultation and gave me confidence that they would take care of me. Since I am a very organized and prepared person who has never even been inside a court room before, this helped immensely. Mike met me immediately in the hallway the morning of and again went through what would be happening in the next few hours. He went and spoke with the prosecutor and unbelievably got the hit and run completely dismissed which left me with only the OWI. He stayed with me throughout the day and also spoke with my probation officer to make sure that I was getting the appropriate probation requirements. I ended up with 9 months of non-reporting probation, 30 days restricted license, 90 days of continuing on twice a day Soberlink, and holiday testing for the remainder of the probation period. The judge also allowed me to travel out-of-state since I had been proactive in the month between the incident and the pre-trial. This result was far better than I had ever imagined or could have obtained on my own. Mike and his team really helped me through one of the hardest things in my life and I cannot thank them enough. Tiffany was also amazing and was my rock throughout this trying month. Any time I had a panic attack or questions that she had probably already heard a thousand times before, she was extremely patient with me and helped to calm my nerves. Throughout this time I was beating myself up every day telling myself how terrible a person I was, but Tiffany always reassured me that everyone makes mistakes and that this incident does not define me and that I need to look forward and use the past as a learning experience. At 31 years old I was charged with 2 misdemeanors for shoplifting. I'm a registered nurse and was facing a lot more than just possible jail time; I would lose my license to practice. Come court day, I was nervous but a part of me knew my lawyer was going to do everything possible. Before I faced the judge, Mike had already cut a deal with the prosecutor. He showed them the kind of person I am and I can continue being (the one that saves lives everyday), rather than the person facing 2 misdemeanors, which could make my life worse and a disservice to the community. My charges were reduced and dropped. My community service was for 5 days. My probation was for 3 months with no checkins and ability to travel out of state. This was the best possible outcome and I couldn't believe it! I'm still in shock and awe of the outcome. He gave me advice that I will never forget. What makes him great was that he treated me as a friend and not as a client. Gave me his personal cell number if I needed to call him. His team is always on top of their game and keeping in touch with me and my progress. His 5 tasks changed my outlook on life and gave me the opportunity to gain control of my life. Where to start.... When you first meet Mike I feel his genuinity immediately. The whole team is positive and encouraging and makes you believe in yourself. Through following the plan set before him my son's probation time was cut in half and he was deemed eligible for HYTA. Although I was conce...rned and worried for my son, it all ended up being a positive learning experience for our family.
