I had no idea what to expect when I realized my son had committed retail fraud of the third degree. As we drew near to the pre-trial while also filling out scholarship and college applications, the weight of the seriousness of the consequences began to fall. Could this hinder him from being ac...cepted into the college of his choice and/or not get help to pay for it? Could it hinder him from getting a job while paying for a college class or two? In addition, we were still thinking that we wanted to get to the root of why he did this in the first place. He had good things coming right around the corner . Why would he jeopardize that? So after watching a youtube video put out by their firm, I contacted them. In the video , they pointed out that they wanted to affirm that good people made bad decisions sometimes and they also wanted to help get to the root of the problem. I felt we were of the same mind. After speaking with Attorney Mike Kelly on the phone, I hired him. Our son's future was too valuable to toy with , not only in getting this off his record but helping him to not do it again. As he helped us navigate through the judicial system and prepared my son for what to expect and what to say, I also began to realize how much stress this took off me. He showed my son respect and worked with him like a mentor would work with a young person who genuinely wanted what was best for him. That is priceless! In the courtroom, we received feedback from the judge such as, " I have a good sense about your client" , and "you are very proactive." Both of which were received because Mike helped our son go in prepared and had programs the judge would assign started or even completed. He also spent time with us in all the lines and waiting in the tasks that needed to be done after the trial and shared with us what more to expect and continued to encourage my son to be the man of honor he knows he can be. Having never gone through this before , my eyes were open to how one could feel one is being set up to fail in this system. But with Attorney Mike Kelly's counsel, representation and continued support after , my son is being set up to get through this and his future successfully. We are very grateful!
