Mike represented me back in early 2017 in regards to a second DUI charge that occurred in Dec of 2016. He provided great info, great support and encouragement, and an effective plan to proceed with before we even showed up in court. We made a list of things I needed to do and I held up my end of the... deal. Meanwhile, Mike and his team were always there to answer any questions, handle any court filing or documentation that was needed, and Mike showed up early, prepared me once again, and did an excellent job in the courtroom on one of the most anxious days of my life. Mike Kelly was recommended to me by my close friend that was facing serious charges that Mike got him out of. I contacted several lawyers prior to Mike and after consulting with him I knew he was the lawyer for me. He laid down a proactive approach and the blueprints behind the plan he had set ...out for me. He set realistic goals that would allow me to continue to be able to fulfill my aspirations of being an arson investigator. I was arrested for an OWI in January of 2019, I blew slightly over the legal limit and the assistant prosecutor wasn't willing to give me anything lower than an OVI due to the fact I had an open bottle containing alcohol on me. He was persistent on getting my charger reduced to something less than an OVI. He was granted permission from the assistant prosecutors to go over her head and speak to the unit chief prosecutor pertaining my case. He did everything in his power to get my OWI reduced all the way down to an allowing an impaired person to operate charge; (without taking it to trial) and he accomplished our goals. When all other attornies I consulted with said it was not possible due to the open alcohol bottle. Most importantly this allowed me to still achieve my goals in the fire service. I would never hire any other lawyer, he was extremely professional and took my case very seriously. He put a lot of work in and got me out of the court system without any jail time nor probation, no license suspension nor restrictions, no points on my license and my incident not reported to the secretary of state, but most importantly a second chance. There was light at the end of the tunnel for my case and I wouldn't have found the light without Mike Kelly in my corner fighting for me. He once told me "people throw me Hale Mary's and I catch them" and he was not joking. I made a horrible decision and got myself into a situation that resulted in arrest for a hit and run and OWI. This was the first time that I had ever been in any sort of trouble and I honestly had no idea where to begin to fix things. I live in Northville so I found Kelly & Kelly based on their locat...ion, experience with DUIs, and great ratings on Jonathan Paul's proactive program. Since I am a very organized and prepared person who has never even been inside a court room before, this helped immensely. Mike met me immediately in the hallway the morning of and again went through what would be happening in the next few hours. He went and spoke with the prosecutor and unbelievably got the hit and run completely dismissed which left me with only the OWI. He stayed with me throughout the day and also spoke with my probation officer to make sure that I was getting the appropriate probation requirements. I ended up with 9 months of non-reporting probation, 30 days restricted license, 90 days of continuing on twice a day Soberlink, and holiday testing for the remainder of the probation period. The judge also allowed me to travel out-of-state since I had been proactive in the month between the incident and the pre-trial. This result was far better than I had ever imagined or could have obtained on my own. Mike and his team really helped me through one of the hardest things in my life and I cannot thank them enough. Tiffany was also amazing and was my rock throughout this trying month. Any time I had a panic attack or questions that she had probably already heard a thousand times before, she was extremely patient with me and helped to calm my nerves. Throughout this time I was beating myself up every day telling myself how terrible a person I was, but Tiffany always reassured me that everyone makes mistakes and that this incident does not define me and that I need to look forward and use the past as a learning experience.
