Lawyers often have the reputation of just caring about taking on lots of clients and making money. Mike Kelly is the complete opposite of that. If you need someone who actually gets to know you, becomes a lawyer and consoler all at the same time, he is your man. I actually first went and got a random... overpriced lawyer, out of fear and anxiety. However, after doing some research I found the Kelly and Kelly firm, and their success stories. I was willing to lose the down payment on my first lawyer, because I had a feeling that this firm is what I needed. I will not go into detail on everything I did not wrong, but let just say my shoplifting issue was a mountain high. I went from multiple shoplifting incidents on one day, to another following the next week. As an immigrant with a great education and career, I had just put everything at risk, and the possibilities of me going to jail and being deported were almost certain. I then met Mike Kelly, who on the first day gave me tough lecture, and questioned me to the point of break. I now look back and realize that he did this to prepare me for the tough battle that was going to occur the following months. If you would have asked any other attorney, in which I did, what are the chances of me getting a resolution I need, they would say impossible, especially given the court you are in. However, Mike did not say it was impossible, just very difficult, but would require lots of work from both myself and him. I quickly began the program, and did everything and more. This included therapy, support groups, community service, online classes, among other things. This case was a long one, where the prosecutors were not willing to budge on any kind of plea-deal. Mike knew the consequences, and quickly told me "If it is a fight they want, then it is one they will get." After many months of going back and forth with the court, Mike was able to get through the prosecutors, and get a plea deal that was better than the nothing they were offering before. It took us almost going to jury trial, which Mike was willing to do, just to get to this point. Six months of hard work was needed, and Mike never gave up, instead he became stronger and more motivated each time we had to go to court. Sentencing day came, and I was so scared, given all the crimes I had committed, I had a feeling jail time was certain. However, I was wrong, Mike was able to get me a great deal with 1 year probation, and continuing the support needed to stop this from occurring again. In the end, the mountain that was never going to be climbed according to people had Mike on the top with his hand extended, helping you get to the top. Mike is more than a lawyer as his experience goes beyond his age by decades. Not many lawyers are willing to spend time to text and email you when you are having a hard day or getting ready to give up, and give you the motivation to fight this battle. In the end Mike was able to not just give me a great result in the court room, but was able to teach me what it is to be a good and honest person, and was able to safe my life.
