I hired Phil when I was accused of an Article 120 offense for sexual assault. The details of my case aren't important, since it was just another in the long list of cases dealing with a member deciding after the fact that they were too drunk to consent, couldn't remember, etc etc.
Phil worked with my military lawyer and did a great job keeping me in the loop at all times. There are so many motions and procedures that do not involve the defendant that it is easy to lose track of what's happening as the various lawyers, judges and paralegals email each other and ignore you entirely. Phil made sure I was never left behind.
But where he really shines is his experience. 35 years is a long time to be practicing, but in the military you simply will not find anyone with even half that time. His knowledge of case law and evidentiary rules shines, and the prosecutor (and judge, often) will have to play catch up.
He also brings an element of familiarity and comfort to an experience that is often very rigid and formal. When you see him in court you get the sense he has been around the block a time or two... and he has.
His style is slow and meandering, and you may find yourself wondering where he is going with a line of questioning, but when he finishes you will have no doubt. Quality over quantity is what you get with Phil, and at the end of it all when I was found not guilty of all charges, there wasn't a moment where I debated if he was worth the cost.

In the Military, I was accused of falsely accused of rape and related charges. Mr. Cave represented me during the course of the investigation, and on through the Article 32 hearing. His arguments and questions during the 32 resulted in the accuser changing her story, and even refusing to answer questions. As a result, it was dismissed.

In a word, outstanding. Exceedingly bright, thorough and professional. A career Naval Officer, my security clearance was revoked due to my marriage to a foreign national. After my initial appeal was denied, I contacted Phil based on the glowing endorsement of a very sharp JAG with whom I had worked. He could not have recommended a better lawyer. Having clearly been though this procedure before, he was masterful in guiding me through the nuances of the remainder of the process. Making the most of the time available, he built an exceptionally thorough, concise, well-reasoned case for resinstatemnt and did a superb job preparing me for the final admisnistrative hearing. It came off without a hitch, and I regained my clearance a little over 60 days later. I credit him with saving a 20+ year career - for a very reasonable fee - and can not recommend himn more highly.

I was on the edge of losing my military career and facing jail time along with my reputation for the rest of my life. I was facing serious sexual as well as assault charges that would have taken everything from me. I did not know where to go or what to do... my whole life was coming down on my head so fast because of one bad night. Then i found out about a lawyer that specialized in all things military... After a lot of review, I brought Mr. Cave onto my case! The very next day Mr. Cave was sitting in my living room going over all the details of my case and explained everything that I was to expect. As the court date drew closer Mr. Cave was always meeting with me and helping me along the way. He is a very straight forward professional that is extremely knowledgeable in all areas of military law! I went into court confident and relaxed knowing because of Mr. Cave! I was found not guilty on all chargers and I was free to go! That was probably one of the best days of my life! Thank you Mr. Cave!!!!
