Over a decade of legal experience! Make the smart move and hire a former active duty Army Defense Judge Advocate, former Army Prosecutor, and former Army Magistrate (reviewing evidence, making probable cause search/seizure determinations, judging hearings and determinations on pre-trial confinement, etc.) and Administrative Law Attorney and combat veteran! Litigation is what I do, and negotiations, and interpreting laws are part of that.
Exceptional and passionate representation and defense of Service members in all areas of Military Law and Criminal Defense, including Veterans Disability Claims, Court Martial, Involuntary Separations, Reduction in Rank, Reprimands, Tab Revocations, Relief for Cause, and any other Administrative punishments. I can help you with allegations of criminal misconduct involving sex crimes, assaults, robbery, theft, forgery, alcohol and drug related incidents, AWOL and FTR and missing movement, adultery, conduct unbecoming, and other UCMJ violations.
Need to file disability, in trouble, charged with crimes or being separated, or need Military legal help? Having a dispute with employer? Need contracts reviewed? Call for a free consultation.
I'm an experienced and aggressive attorney, accustomed to intensity and high pressure. I have defended many serious felonies such as allegations of rape, larceny, burglary, sale of stolen property, assault with a weapon, AWOL, drugs, etc. (many of my clients have faced life or well over a hundred years in prison), getting favorable results, including getting cases and charges dismissed, findings of Not Guilty, partial acquittals, saving careers, saving multi-million dollar retirements, saving million dollar medical retirements, etc. I have argued and won many motions before the court, and successfully convinced the Judge to reduce the maximum sentence in one case by over 90 years due to prosecution over-charging, at trial! I've negotiated extremely favorable deals for my clients, about half of which included no federal conviction. I've gotten Soldiers facing separation retained, and literally saved careers and rank for many Soldiers facing Administrative Separation or Reduction in Rank. I even talked to the General and had a wrongfully separated Soldier brought back onto active duty and transferred to a better assignment!
After 7 years of Army experience, several combat deployments, and over a decade of legal experience in various areas of law including Criminal Law, Administrative Law, Civil Law, International Law, Operational Law, Family Law, and Securities Law, I am ready to fight for you and work with you. I have many years of customer service experience, having previously been an elite stock broker and financial advisor for millionaire clients. I previously held my Series 7 and several other financial and insurance licenses. I am a straight shooter, with the highest level of integrity and honesty. I'll tell you how it really is and not sugar coat it. My goal is to zealously represent my clients at every stage of the process, with an eye to a realistic and positive outcome.

After receiving weak advice from another defense attorney, I contacted Ryan, and I'm so happy I did. His level of involvement was superb, his legal knowledge outstanding, and his advice made all the difference in my retiring honorably at my highest grade. Ryan was prompt and clear with email and ph...

If you feel that you have had an injustice or require equitable support during a difficult time in your military or personal career for any reason, Ryan is the attorney to select. His cost is fair and will work with you regardless of your financial situation. I had met him while he was defending ...
It was a privilege to serve a fellow Soldier. I'm honored to have had such a positive impact in your life. I'm happy things turned out as well as they did and in the big picture you were able to win and secure the positive results you did.

As a Serviceman, in time of loss and confusion, on the battlefield or off, it is necessary to have strong people around oneself. Ryan Sweet is the kind of guy you want in your corner. He once reminded me of what I am, to internalize it. He kept me alive. I am thankful for his presence in that time...
It is and was a privilege to serve a fellow brother in arms. I'm proud of your service and ability to endure the worst the prosecutors could throw at you.

Very knowledgeable and very quick to respond to any case. About a year ago I went through a case of being wrongly accused and was very surprised by the dedication and help provided to me by Capt. Sweet.
Thank you! It was an honor to serve you.

"As a Special Forces Captain, I was wrongly accused of crimes and the Army wanted to strip me of my professional medical license, my Special Forces Tab, and end my career. Ryan worked extremely hard for me and through his diligence we won! It was all thrown out. I kept my license, my Tab, and my c...
This is one of many examples of the over-reaching and oppressive use of the UCMJ and Regulations against Service members who are wrongly accused. This Special Forces officer found himself on the receiving end of false allegations which could have cost him severely. He had a lot riding on the outcome (his professional license, career, and SF tab). With my hard work he won the entire case and walked away from this, able to continue to work in SF and serve his nation. Congratulations and thank you for your service brother!
"I endorse Ryan. Highly respected in the legal community. Strong reputation for client advocacy and dedication."
"Ryan is a dedicated and intelligent attorney. His passion for his clients results in real results and I have referred cases to him knowing that he will take care of the client. Ryan is also a man of integrity. Highly recommended."
"I emphatically endorse Ryan without any reservation. He is among the small group of attorneys I hold in the highest regard. Well known for his tenacity, courtroom presence, and intelligence, Ryan will serve any client well."
"I strongly endorse Ryan Sweet. I have known Ryan for eight years, having first met him while attending the Judge Advocate course. Ryan has a great depth of understanding and experience in military law and has distinguished himself as an exceptional attorney. He is very hard working and has a reputation as an extremely zealous advocate for his clients."
"I endorse this lawyer without hesitation. I've known Ryan for almost 20 years and he is a very skilled trial attorney who represents his clients with honesty, vigor and the utmost professionalism. Ryan has been an excellent trial attorney for years now having obtained a countless number of acquittals for those falsely accused by the Government."
"Ryan has great moral character and is an extremely competent attorney. Ryan's resume speaks for itself... but it does not tell you about his most important trait - zealous advocacy. He is a very experienced and aggressive attorney who handles high pressure situations with ease. Ryan is an attorney who will not back down from a challenge and is a take charge person and attorney. I endorse him."
"Attorney Sweet provides detailed answers to Avvo questions that demonstrate his mastery of the law, often in obscure areas, his ability to explain, and his commitment to the community. Clearly, he is a top notch lawyer at the top of his game."
"I endorse this lawyer. He is honorable, knowledgeable and well respected in the legal community. You can trust him to protect your constitutional rights."
"I endorse Ryan Sweet. I served with Ryan in the military for several years. His tenacity and legal skills far outpaced his peers. I had the opportunity to discuss case law and strategy on multiple occasions and can honestly say that Ryan is on top of his game. Nothing but positive things to say about Ryan."
"An extremely talented and well respected attorney in the legal community, I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for a lawyer who knows the law and truly cares about protecting the rights of his clients and getting them the most favorable result possible."
"I endorse this lawyer. Mr. Sweet consistently provides sound legal advice and demonstrates a high level of skill in his field."
"Personally, I highly recommend Mr. Sweet as a Criminal Defense Attorney and seasoned litigator. I had the privilege of serving and staying in contact with Ryan over multiple duty assignments, both deployed (as a Special Forces Judge Advocate) and CONUS since 2006. He excelled in the most challenging Judge Advocate assignments. Ryan is competent, tenacious, and is not afraid to challenge the status quo. He served honorably and left the service for all the right reasons, namely because he has a passion for Criminal Defense work and more importantly compassion for those whom he represents. Ryan's prior service in the Judge Advocate General's Corps provides him with unique perspective, credibility, and superior knowledge of the Military Justice and Adverse Administrative processes. If you are looking for a hardworking, caring, accessible advocate, Ryan is it."
"While I have not had the pleasure of working with Mr. Sweet, I have seen his answers in this forum and am impressed by his knowledge and insight. I would recommend him to my friends, particularly those in the military."
"I do not know him personally (we have never met) but I have had multiple occasions to read Mr. Sweet's responses to questions on Avvo and he never fails to impress with his level of knowledge, degree of compassion and rock solid advise. I cannot recall an instance where I disagreed with his advise, but I can recall one where his analysis actually changed my own thought process. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr. Sweet to anyone in need of his services."
"I met Captain Sweet in Iraq in 2008, tried a case with him in 2011, worked with him on post-trial matters over the next two years, and am familiar with his reputation. I never met a more dedicated attorney in my life. His devotion to his clients and their cases is best described as "fanatical." He fights hard and never quits."
