Ms. Kroll is the most dedicated lawyer I have ever worked with. Her goals were my goals. To whom it may concern: My husband and I recently needed the services of a competent, trusted attorney. We had observed that my mother was showing signs that she was not keeping up with day-to day activities around the home and with her financial affairs. To complicate matters, she lives 135 miles a...way from us in a rural small town where there are limited resources. My dad is in a nursing home in this same small town, and my mom’s legal affairs were impacted by this as well. And, we had concerns about how my taking this initiative would affect my relationship with my brother, and his relationship with Mom. It became draining for us, emotionally and physically, to have to go down to her home, weekend after weekend, to help sort things out. Before our face-to-face meeting, I gave her the background information in phone calls and emails. As we sat down to our very first meeting, she had already drafted sample Power of Attorney forms to show us how we could start to get a handle on helping my mom with everything she had going on. Elizabeth and her associate listened compassionately, as we told them private and painful details of what we were going through. They did not act condescending even though some of it probably seemed mundane to them. They suggested things we could do on our own right away, to feel-out my mom and try to see if she would willingly grant us privileges to deal with her affairs. They then took the new information gathered at this meeting and incorporated that into a plan. Later, when we found some old Power of Attorney forms from a different attorney, Elizabeth reviewed them and pointed out things that probably had to be re-addressed, either because Missouri law had changed, or due to the changes in my parent’s circumstances, the nursing home, etc. After meeting with Elizabeth and her associate, we were finally reassured that there are processes in place to help with these things. There are websites that promote how one can try to do these things on their own. After going through it personally, I believe it’s best to have a professional on your side. These things are complicated. I don’t believe they should be trusted to just anyone. I would highly recommend the services of Elizabeth Kroll to anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances.
