During this ordeal our family quickly recognized how determined and focused Marks' entire team, (Jeff, Randy, Zack, David) team of legal professionals were for our son and bringing the falsehood of the accusers accusations to light. Jeff as an attorney and very skilled legal orator in presenting legal argument, Randy the investigator (retired detective) and his tenacity for digging out truthful, factual, evidence. Zack for his determination and ease of communication with others. David as a staff member, and recognizing the hell our family faced gave great comfort in inflecting empathy through conversation. Last you will find that the leader Mark Cogan is humble man. Yet his brilliance in developing legal strategy and presenting legal tenacious argument is a tribute to his profession . Further our family got to know him. We appreciated his candor, his wisdom and honesty. With Candor he told us the hard facts that our family faced. His wisdom prevailed over a DA who is in my view a zealot for persecution and blind to the truth. Honesty ? True to his overall character he sent us funds back we did not expect, that were not used because he is honest and a man I will forever trust. Our family holds these traits in high regard and our recognition speaks to something beyond the entire legal system, but rather to the very core of the man Mark C Cogan. Words alone are not enough to express our appreciation for him and his entire firm.

While applying for a non resident insurance license in Florida, which required a back ground check, I was shocked to discover that I had a criminal conviction on my record from 40 years ago in Washington County, Oregon. When I entered a plea of guilty to the criminal charges in the Washington County,... Oregon court in 1974, it was under the plea agreement with the court that I would receive probation and upon successful completion of that probation my case would be dismissed as a deferred judgment and my record would be sealed and would not be something that went forward and would not be retained on my record. The court did not follow through on their promise. It was crucial to my livelihood that I would be able to obtain the license I was applying for. It was the overwhelming consensus of my friends in the legal community in Denver Colorado where I now reside that I contact Mark Cogan in Portland Oregon. I found myself up against some pretty serious charges, this was very much out of character for me. I was at a loss for what to do, or where to even begin for that matter. My BF researched for a lawyer for me and came across this site. After reviewing several, and then reviewing Mark Cogan's reviews i...t was pretty clear what I needed to do. Called and scheduled my appointment. Mark is the one who would return my calls, Mark is the one who would return my emails personally himself. He didn't have a secretary or receptionist that handled all his person to person contacts. There were times here or there, but for the most part Mark too care of it. 10 years ago I had a business deal go horribly wrong which I tried to resolve on my own. It ended with criminally charges against me when the cops arrested me without fully investigating the facts and the DA initially went along and piled on a series of serious charges. I realized I needed representa...tion and sought out the "best defense attorney in Oregon" Mr Cogan was recommended to me and he a great job on my case. Unfortunately, the state did not drop all their charges against me, but because of his personal relationships with the DA, and defense experience, he got me the best deal possible, which ended up in only misdemeanor convictions. In a Hollywood movie my case would have been dismissed to the cheers of a packed courtroom, but in real life the DA and the cops are never going to admit they did anything wrong, and as hard as it was to hear, Mark gave me the best advice and representation possible. He got my charges reduced, and also helped me prepare myself so that when I did plead guilty to the reduced charges, the judge gave me the minimal sentence. Although it was unfortunate to have a conviction on my record I stayed in contact with Mark and 10 years later (required in Oregon) Mark most recently helped get the conviction expunged. Again, his personal relationships with the court and state officials was a factor in making this happen in my favor. Mark has always been fantastic about answering my calls, emails and several times I have called him after hours or on the weekend expecting to leave a message and had him personally answer my call and give me the time needed to address my concern. His number is programmed in my speed dial and committed to my memory because even though I never expect to have any criminal issues again, this experience taught me that the system is far from fair and your best chance in getting a fair result is to have a good attorney.
