Jawan A Mullen Jr.

A Rose City native, Jawan has deep roots in the Portland area. He graduated from David Douglas High School in 2010, Portland State University with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology in 2015, and earned his J.D. from Lewis and Clark Law School in 2020. While in law school, Jawan clerked at Metropolitan Public Defender, was a member of the Lewis and Clark Moot Court competition team, and a 2019 Lezak Legacy Fellow. 

Jawan began his work at Mark C. Cogan, P.C. as a Certified Law Clerk in January of 2020. Prior to that, he was a Certified Law Clerk at the Multnomah County District Attorney’s office from 2019 to 2020. While there, he gained meaningful experience in many facets of criminal prosecution, including conducting his own bench and jury trials on behalf of the State of Oregon. Having worked on both sides of criminal law, Jawan has a unique point of view in understanding the thought process of a Deputy District Attorney as they prosecute a criminal case from charge to trial.

In 2021, Jawan joined the Mutlnomah County District Attorney's Office as a Deputy District Attorney. For two years, he prosecuted many cases in adult and juvenile court. He handled hundreds of cases from assaults to burglaries and took doezens of cases to trial with both bench and jury verdicts.

In 2023, Jawan joined Youth, Rights, and Justice to spearhead a new education law program. He created the PASS Program, a program specialized to reduce the achievement gap and dismantle the school to prison pipeline. Jawan approaches every client’s case with a coordinated game plan, working hard to compete and get the best result for each client.
