Biography
Patrick DiFilippo* focuses his legal practice on representing individuals who have suffered catastrophic injuries. Deeply familiar with the laws and medical science involved in personal injury actions, Patrick formulates and executes cutting-edge litigation strategies to consistently deliver excellent results for his clients. Unwavering in his commitment to achieve justice for those who have been wrongfully injured, Patrick is responsible for numerous six and seven figure recoveries in cases ranging from auto accidents, slip-and-falls, medical malpractice, and dog attacks.
In addition to his personal injury work, Patrick has a comprehensive understanding of California employment law and business law and routinely advises companies on wage and hour matters and complex compliance issues. He also frequently represents employees on wage claims, discrimination claims, contract disputes, and other employment law matters.
Patrick has been recognized for his outstanding legal work by being selected multiple times as a Super Lawyers "Rising Star," a designation reserved for the top 2.5% of California licensed attorneys under 40. Patrick is licensed to practice law in California state and federal courts and has also argued before the California Court of Appeals. His appellate work in the matter of Case v. State Farm (Case No. B281732) led to a published decision clarifying an auto insurer’s obligations in resolving uninsured motorist claims.
Patrick attended the University of Arizona where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in English. Patrick then attended law school at the University of San Diego, where he participated extensively in USD’s Special Education Legal Clinic, negotiating with school districts to obtain special education services for children with special needs. While in law school, Patrick also interned with Judge Eddie C. Sturgeon of the San Diego Superior Court.
Patrick has full professional fluency in French and is conversational in Spanish and Russian. In his spare time, Patrick enjoys landscape photography and the outdoors.
* In 2022, Patrick changed his last name from Phillips to DiFilippo to restore his family's original Italian name.
