Long story short, My fiancé and I got into a verbal argument. I got locked out of the home, I kicked the door in, which coincidentally hit my fiancé in the head. Total accident, but in the state of CO’s eyes a very black, and white matter. I was arrested and charged with domestic violence, harassmen...t, criminal mischief, and 3rd degree assault. I spent the next 14 hours in a county jail cell wondering if I was going to have a fiancé to come home to, and a job to go back to. Not a good feeling. Especially since it was an honest mistake. That terrible feeling was extrapolated when I was contacted that afternoon by the public defender. I was told he would represent me. He spoke with me on the phone, and he described how things were going to go. He mention some details of the case that didn’t add up. He was reading the wrong case!! This inattention to detail was the scariest part. Moments later Nancy walked into the jail and introduced herself. My guardian angel had arrived. Without me knowing my fiancé and family had contacted her office at approximately 9:30 AM, five hours later she was in the jail reassuring me in person that everything was going to be OK. Oh yeah.. and this all happened on her birthday! I posted bail and was released. Unfortunately a no contact order was placed so I wasn’t able to speak with the person I was sent to marry a week later. This on top of the possibility of losing my job was giving me the worst anxiety I’ve ever experienced. Nancy got the no contact order removed right away. She instructed me to focus on my work, and that she would take care of everything. The way she carried herself was reassuring, but the unknown was more stressful than I can describe. The next two days at work I was an anxious mess, and the clock seemed to stand still. That Friday Nancy called, and told me that all charges had been dropped and the case was dismissed! Nancy spoke with the DA and the next thing I knew I received a letter stating the DA had filed for dismal on the grounds “they had no reasonable likelihood of success at trial” aka they knew Nancy would absolute annihilate their case if brought to trial. My world was turned upside down on a Tuesday at 2 in the morning and righted by Nancy Kardon three days later on Friday afternoon! Do not underestimate the power of a good lawyer!!! My advise, hire Nancy, listen to everything she tells you and she’ll take care of the rest.
