I have been a victim of a very bad management company now since December 2014. The property has had 4 code violations in the 8 months I have lived there, all of which I reported to the proper government agencies. In the 7 months I lived at this property I had never paid rent late, except once when my... payroll deposit went in a day late. The property came after me for over $600 in late fees. When I tried to reason with them without success I refused to pay, refused to be extorted for $600. They started the eviction process. I have made it through phase one of my trial against some very bad property managers where the judge ruled in my favor. If you know the law, if you have documented everything that felt wrong, if you ever feel your landlord is treating you like less than human, forcing you to deal with uninhabitable conditions and not maintaining the property, record all of it, get correspondence in writing and report them. My situation was so hard on me that I even got sick physically. After I spoke to the lawyer at this office my whole way of thinking and my whole way of viewing people I trust had changed. After I sent out and uninhabitable form to the lease office I was renting from, the lease office had an attorney ...after me, I wasn't scared of them anymore, not even their attorney was able to stop me. I fought to get my deposit money back. I finally got my full deposit back. I would have sticking thoughts that they were taking me court, but they didn't instead they backed off. The lawyer that helped me out told me to stayed calmed through out this situation, that sometimes when we get our heads in the lions mouth, we must get out of it slow. He was right, It was a scary situation, but I stayed direct and got my full deposit back. This was a good lawyer, I was helped out by him only, nobody else wanted to helped me, I was even told to leave it alone by my friends, I was told take my losses, but I knew that I was being taken advantage and I had to fight for what was mine. THANK YOU!! I don't know what else I would've had done but I'm so blessed and happy it was this office I called.
