Highly recommend:

Travis was very helpful in my divorce case and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a competent, professional family law attorney. His staff, especially Maria was always very responsive and quite helpful when it came to answering many of my questions.

Custody Lawyer

My husband and I selected Mr. Turner because of his outstanding reputation. It was very important for us to have someone in Texas to help us with our custody issue as we live out of state. Mr. Travis was understanding, was easy to communicate with, was knowledgeable and always available when a ques...tion arose. I most appreciate his honesty regarding our options and what was in the best interest of our child.

Professional, Knowledgable, Compassionate - Travis Turner

Sometimes you need counsel that goes beyond your normal network of colleagues, friends and family. Such an occasion presented itself with our family. We called on the law offices of Piper & Turner. Not only did Travis Turner and his team of professionals help us navigate the legal system with sound... advice and counsel, but they did it with compassion and understanding as ours was a very delicate and emotional case. Travis’ understanding of the law, and most important, his ability to keep the human and personal side of our case in focus helped us to make the right decisions at a very difficult and emotional time.

Great Attorney

We switched to Travis Turner midway through a child custody suit and he immediately took action and filed things that should have been filed by our previous attorney and researched and answered questions we had yet to get answered within the first two days of receiving the case. Looking back, the de...cision to change to Travis is what changed the direction of the whole case, which at that time was not very favorable for us. This was a very difficult case with numerous parties involved and Travis had the skill, knowledge, staff and expertise to pull it off. He kept us informed throughout the entire process and would send us copies of everything he filed and every response from the opposing party. He responded very timely to all of our questions and fears, was very honest and forthright about what we could expect and was always a step ahead of the opposing party. He and his paralegal, Denise, were very well prepared for trial and had thought out every possible scenario that could occur and had a well thought out strategy to counter. In addition, Travis and Denise truly had a vested interest in our case and the best interest of the child at stake. Throughout the case, there were times when fear would grip us, but Travis was always there to offer support and assurance. He understood the emotional roller coaster we were going through and was always able to make us feel more reassured and confident. In the end, we won our case and are forever grateful for the hard work and dedication of Travis Turner and his staff. I would highly recommend this law firm.

Watch your wallet

Travis is a knowledgeable and aggressive lawyer. The only catch is that you must have deep pockets. If you run low on money during litigation, Travis will dump you fast and leave you high and dry. It is my understanding that his firm has a reputation for this pattern. He and his senior partn...er were fully and completely aware of my complete financial status when they took my case and my honesty, ability and willingness repay any debt. Travis and his senior Partner completely drained my bank account in a matter of weeks and left me to drown against the opposing side when the money ran out. It took me many years and a lot more money to get the resulting disaster overturned.

At Piper & Turner, PLLC, we are always mindful of our client's financial resources and their ability to fund their litigation. Sometimes this means that lawyer and expert fees will come from the community estate and sometimes it means a client will have to borrow money from their family or a loved one. During the initial consultation our lawyers explain the process and the resulting costs of that process. It is made clear that litigation is not cheap. Sometimes it is our client that runs up the costs and sometimes it is the other side that runs up the costs. Some cases require experts to complete reports while some do not. Each case is unique in what is needed to present the case to the court. This is explained up front to each and every client. At the time our firm is hired, a legal services agreement is signed by the client whereby they acknowledge and agree to pay for the services utilized. This agreement sets out our expectations for our clients, including but not limited to the amount of the initial retainer, any replenishment amount required and how payment is expected once the retainer is gone. We are not a bank - we are lawyers. We are not in the business of loaning money to our clients. We have a job to do and we expect to be compensated for the job that we do. As a client, you agreed to this model. It is not fair to this firm or the people that work here to work on a case that they will not be compensated for. If you think about it, this is not an uncommon business model. Your credit card will cut you off if you don’t pay. Your utilities stop working if you don’t pay. If you fail to pay your mortgage the bank does not sit back and continue to loan you money, they begin foreclosure proceedings. We are realistic when we explain the costs of litigation. If we determine from the outset that a client will be unable to afford our services we do the best we can to send them somewhere that they can better afford. At the end of the day, a client hires us because we are good at what we do not because we are the least expensive. With respect to the review in question I am not certain who you are or what the particulars of your case were as that information is not provided to me. With that said, I would certainly be willing to sit down with you and discuss with you your experiences with our firm. As a business owner I am always receptive to learn from our client’s past experiences in hopes that we can build upon our foundation. Perhaps there is a way I can better explain the costs of the process to our future clients so that there is no misunderstanding as to the expectations and the ultimately, the cost.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
