I strive to help people through the legal process. I take the time to explain to them what is happening with their case and the effects that can have on their lives. Attorneys get the reputation of not returning phone calls or talking "down" to people. I work hard to return all phone calls within one work day (if not much sooner) and treat people as I want to be treated.

 

My geographic practice areas include Greene County and the surrounding counties of Christian, Stone, Taney, Lawrence, Webster, Polk, Cedar and Dade.  I handle municipal court cases as well.

 

I graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1995 and attended Missouri State University until 2000 earning a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Political Science.  While undergrad I owned and operated a successful Video Store in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.

 

I attended Creighton University from 2000-2003.  I participated in several mock trial and moot court competitions.  I won the Regional Trial Competition and competed at Nationals.

 

I was hired by Darrell Moore at the Greene County Prosecutors Office in 2003 upon my graduation.  I left in 2006 to work for Dee Wampler and then went back to work for the Greene County Prosecutors Office for the remainder of 2006 until 2012 when I started my own law firm.  While at the Greene County Prosecutors Office I prosecuted every single type of case in Missouri.  From child support and traffic tickets to homicides and sex cases.  I have handled thousands of cases and taken hundreds to trial.

 

In 2009 I was selected to be a member of Class 24 of Leadership Springfield.  I was selected as the Class Representative to serve on the Board of Directors.  I am currently the President of the Board of Directors of Leadership Springfield.

 

My Practice is mostly comprised of Criminal Defense, Family Law and Estate Planning.

I have the pleasure of teaching Character Education to the Wilson’s Creek School in Battlefield, Missouri.  I have served on the CASP Board of Directors, Vice-Chair of Violence Free Families and do pro bono work for Harmony House.

THIS IS THE LAWYER YOU NEED!
Attorney Matt Russell managed a DUI/ Illegal arrest case for my husband, and must say, he is an AMAZING lawyer. First, I must note, we are located out of state, and he made sure to reassure us and communicate to us frequently throughout the process. The overall case took 15 months to close out, however that was by choice as he was adamant that “good things come to those who wait.” Good things did in fact actually happen… he got all charges completely dropped and nothing on my husband’s record. We also really liked that he had a set price for DUI cases- regardless if it went to trial or not. It allows the client to make a decision based on what is best for them, versus making it a money decision. Matt Russell is a rock star attorney, and we can’t thank him enough!!!

It's not very often that you love an attorney...usually because they are handling some terrible life event. Such was the case for me. I hired Mr. Russell to represent my son who was in some very serious trouble. Most attorneys wanted a huge deposit and expect you to agree to pay a huge hourly sum for an unidentified amount of hours. Scary proposition. I was from out of state and didn't know this guy from Adam. He was referred by a close friend in the area who told me he was extremely capable...with a background in prosecutor work...Just the guy you need in a criminal case. He charged me a flat rate. I knew what I was paying so I wasn't bilked each month for more and more money. I had to pay the fee in advance, but that was it. He did an amazing job for my son and had him released and charges dropped without trial. He was compassionate and caring and compassionate about his client. A short time later my son died. Had he been in prison he would have died without me. So thankful, I can't even begin to tell you. If you are in trouble...call Mr. Russell. He will be effective as well as fair.

Amazing
I was being charged with 3 different assault charges and resisting arrest 1 of the charges was towards an officer. All the assault charges were dropped and community service for the resisting arrest. He was more then phenomenal. I didn't even have to stand in front of the judge I waited in the hall way till the plea... it was Amazing! Being from Cali I thought I was done 4 at least 1 yr jail time but Matthew made sure I was going back home!

THE BEST ATTORNEY IN TOWN!!
I had a Felony C case and I was scared to death of the possible outcomes. Matt made me confident in our initial consultation that he was the lawyer for me. He truly listened to me and made me feel it was gonna be okay! I chose him and never went to see anyone else left court today with case dismissed! He didn't BS me and was upfront price wise and possible outcomes. He was point on with what he thought would happen based on facts but never over promised anything. I will never use another Attorney besides him #attorneyforlife. Everyone in his office made me feel comfortable from secretary to assistant from day one. The Best
Definately the best attorney by far. I'm a hard one to deal with and get through to. Matt took extra time to get to know me. He was honest and very understanding. He really cared for me as a person not just another case. In the court room he was fully prepared for any arguments brought to the table. I was already on probation with an SIS. Had already messed up multiple times and topped it off with a new class B felony an misdemeanor. I was looking at multiple years in DOC and be labeled as a felon. I was dead set on going and wanted to give up. Matt gave me hope and was confident in himself which made me more comfortable . I went before 2 different judges probably the toughest prosecutors and a revocation recommendation from my PO. We won and when I say won I mean I'm not going to prison but the best part is I get to keep an SiS on both counties, and only have to pay a small fine on the misdemeanor. A blessing for sure. All thank to Matt for pushing me to do better and not giving up on me . Its because of him I'm free today and get to go back to school and finish my degree and not have to worry about a felony effecting my Career. Thank you Matt

I would recommend Matthew Russell to everyone. If it was possible to give 10 stars instead of 5, I would. Matthew does more than just his job. He cares for everyone of his clients and puts up one heck of a fight for them. He believes everyone deserves a another chance and doesn't stop. It doesn't matter the time of day/night he responds to any worries or questions, immediately. He has a answer for every question and questions you wouldn't even think of asking. Look no further!
Things happen as they did to me and I found myself in a very distressing situation. I've known Matt for years as I've used him for speeding tickets and referred him to friends and family for such issues, but when something quite serious transpired, I didn't know what to do. A family friend who also happens to be a judge recommended Matt (that says something) and I called him right away. He immediately calmed me down and met with me the following day to go over my position. He checked in with me numerous times during the period of "the unknown," (to me the waiting time before my case was heard was the worst) to see how I was doing psychologically. All I can say is that I was and continue to be very happy to have had Matt on my side fighting for me. He did exactly what he said he would do. If you find yourself in a situation where you need an experienced, honest and hardworking attorney to take care of you and get you the best outcome you can receive, then hire Matt! His emotional support and professional performance was outstanding.
