Douglas J. Mr. Shumway is known for his cost-conscious approach to all legal matters, which sensitivity towards cost was developed during his many years as a business owner who often required the services of legal counsel throughout the United States.

Due to his extensive and diverse experience in matters relating to contract preparation and the laws associated therewith, Mr. Shumway also acts as a litigation strategist for our law firm in relation to most of our commercial litigation matters.

My experience working with Douglas J Shumway
Working with Douglas was a pleasure. Doug took the time to explain what each clause in the agreement was and did about 3-4 iterations as the negotiations went on with the other side while the agreement evolved. He also proactively proposed clauses that I was not aware of that made the agreement even stronger.

Doug replied to me with in a day of making an inquiry. He also felt he wasn't as qualified for IP work as others. I appreciated his honesty.

Professional and talented representation
Douglas and his team are very professional. They provide a high quality of service. I have been very pleased with how well they protect my business. They ask the questions that most usually don't think of and they make sure that all of the bases are covered.

Attorneys with the best intentions
I was recommended to Doug Shumway about 3 years ago and have greatful for that recommendation. Doug has worked with me for my business and personal needs and is the kind of attorney that I trust. ADP Lemco Review
Shumway Van & Hansen is a great firm. I use them personally and I have all my companies retain them for services. I have had over 10 suits with them and they were very professional, diligent and I was happy with the results. I would personally recommend this attorney to anyone in need of services.

Smart team at a great price.
I have worked with Doug a few times and i have also referred Doug to anyone who has need of a lawyer. Doug and his team have made tough times easier. They have great prices and they do what they say they will do. I don't know what else you can ask for from an attorney.

Excellent Attorney
I don't want to go too in depth about my case for various reasons. I just recently discovered this site and found Mr. Shumway on here. I feel confident in recommending Mr. Shumway to anyone. I don't know him very well because we were able to get my issue handled without me needing to meet. That's not to say that after we got my issue handled I didn't want to treat him to lunch to show I was grateful. We maintained consistent communication via phone and email. He always kept me informed and told me the strengths and weaknesses of both party's case. It was interesting to hear him tell me what the opposition was doing correctly. It was almost as if since he knew what they would do he would have a move of his own to counter. I greatly respect this man's ability to do what needs to be done. When you get in a stressful situation, sometimes certain factors to make you want to do things you wouldn't normally do. I am ashamed to say this was true for me. The stress and anger made me want to do things that I wouldn't normally do. Mr. Shumway flat out told me one time, "no, we're not going to do that. That's dishonest." I was stunned to start with and afterwards embarrassed. I'm grateful that his integrity helped me keep mine.

Friend of a Friend
Douglas is the most capable attorney I know. He is so quick at seeing things. He consistently impresses me with his ability to help me and the people I refer to him. He has helped me with multiple real estate transactions. I had a class action and fraud case that he oversaw. When I was wanting to set up holding companies for the real property that I own, he was more than happy to help. We got all of the companies set up which has been very effective at protecting my personal finances. Doug negotiated for my friend when he was defrauded. They were eventually able to get a judgment that was well worth both of their time. If there is ever a situation where I need legal assistance, I would want to use him. He gives Utah attorneys a good name in my book. If you find yourself in a situation that requires legal help, I would recommend that you get Doug in your corner before your opponent does. That will be the best bet

I was a client
I was a client of his firm's. He changed out my lawyers frequently and when I fired the firm he refused to hand over my title until he was paid. I had already spent close to $10,000 and only have temp orders to show for it.

I actually don't know Austin and haven't ever worked with him. He worked with the family law practice group at my firm and the attorney that did most of the work on his file took a job with another firm, where Austin re-hired him to do additional work. We asked for his outstanding balance to be paid before he took the file and he began posting negative reviews on every site he could find in an attempt to hurt our business. Unfortunately, the good deed of extending credit to someone didn't go unpunished in this instance.
